Gravity Bugs / Issues

Should there be a neo luddite test for users?
Next he will say he likes motor noise, wants a fake shifter, wishes it smelled more of gasoline… you know… an anti ev person… they ask range you say it does 437 they claim to need 600… never enough. Such boring folks.
Maybe just maybe lucid should make sure before they give one of their vehicles for a review (that will go nationwide )that the screens will not go blank before giving it to the reviewer. What in the world was Lucid thinking. Check the damn car first before you give it out.

They didn’t. CR buys the cars they review, afaik.

Turn Signal Malfunction:

Anyone else having this issue, or get it resolved by Lucid? It started the day I picked up the vehicle and happens between 80-90% of the time when I test it. My Gravity was in service for 10 days at Tysons Corner for other issues and this was reported, but they said they could reproduce. Here’s a video I uploaded and also sent to Lucid.

Air Conditioning Malfunctioning:
When getting into the vehicle the air conditioning malfunctions. The fan goes to the highest setting and does not adjust, as expected. When you toggle off the HVAC system and then toggle it back on the system performs as expected. Reported to Lucid Tysons Corner, VA at first visit , but they said they could reproduce. It is now happening 100% of the time. Gravity is going back to them tomorrow for this and a list of other issues.

Yes, very common problem, obviously software. Annoying, but at least there is a work-around.

I agree with @borski that CR purchases the cars they review.

And there would have been no way for Lucid to check a car out before turning it over to CR. As near as I can gather from this forum, pretty much every Gravity has this problem at one time or another, and it occurs randomly and intermittently. So a car may start up fine five times and then on the sixth leave you looking at one, or two, or all black screens.

We had this regularly with our first Gravity. When our second Gravity arrived three months later, the problem seldom presented, so I thought it had been mostly resolved. Then suddenly, on a day I was racing between appointments, the new one shut down completely the instant I pressed the brake pedal, even though everything has powered up properly when I first got in the car. Everything went dead (even the windows and the door latches), just as it did in the CR video.

If it was just software it would have to be happening on my Gravity. I have never experienced this. Then again I have had very few fob failures. It has to be the interaction of the software with hardware. The hardware ( and there is a LOT of hardware) must have variances between vehicles that the software does not comprehend. Think timing , interrupt processing, ethernet determination. An intermittent connection can cause havoc, RF interference or arcing can create random behaviors. If the base processor and its system components are solid the software is going to run the same way every time, but not if the hardware its controlling is sending false signal inputs or reacting incorrectly to commands. The Gravity is a very complex system.

I had only a couple fob issues in the three weeks before I took a long roadtrip and the vehicle refused to go into drive, neutral or reverse. It had to be flatbedded to the service center. After they reinstalled the latest update and the update to the fob, I have no issues with the fob. But still experiencing a number of issues that have been reported since the day I took delivery. The list has grown a bit too. Hopefully they can get these issues fixed soon.

Well, not seeing any real light at the end of the software bugs tunnel, I finally cancelled my Gravity order and donated my $1000 deposit.
Then Lucid sent me a survey request email to find out why. Happy to try and give them some honest and hopefully constructive feedback, I clicked on the survey button…and got an error message. I guess the survey software is also plagued by bugs.
I wish Lucid and all of the owners the best of luck.

I’m sorry you felt that to be the best option as not everyone had a vehicle plagued with bugs but after reading this forum I do understand. 😓

Thanks. I am always glad to hear about the positive experiences as well, and understand that this thread amplifies the negative. But I just don’t feel like the car in its current state is something I want to deal with. I will keep teasing, and hopefully Lucid will eventually get things ironed out.

Just like Savage Geese says: unacceptable.

I had been having some issues with my fob - twice in a week of ownership the fob has entirely stopped working to turn the vehicle on for driving (access to the vehicle has been fine all except for one time, which I will explain below). Once it stops working, the fob must be re-set using the battery removal workaround. No amount of shaking wakes it up. But the reset works perfectly. And my key card had been 100% effective in starting the car instead. So there were functional and reliable workarounds.

Having been assured at the delivery center that my fobs were fully up to date with the latest software (I asked multiple times) and having heard about @Ron_Burgundy 's issues after validating his fob firmware, I had been reluctant to do the same. But after my most recent reset, I figured it was time to take the plunge. And.... both fobs did in fact require new firmware.
🤦‍♂️

I remain on 3.3.5, having not had the guts to install 3.3.8 when it was briefly available to me. Hopefully the new fob firmware will make my fob issues a thing of the past. Fingers crossed!

The one time my fob has not allowed me access to the car was one of the times I had to use the key card to start the vehicle. Because it was not my habit, I accidentally left the key card in the console. I am assuming this caused some wonkiness in unlocking the vehicle. It would not present handles or unlock; embarrassed someone might be watching I went to the back of the vehicle to try to access the liftgate, which also didn't work. As I took out my cell phone to try using the phone to unlock the car, something finally clicked and I was able to open the trunk, before having to resort to the app.

Has anyone else had an issue with the rear liftgate? Today I closed the rear hatch using the auto-close button and walked around the car to the driver's seat to get moving. The main "car" screen on the pilot panel showed the liftgate was open, which it did not appear to be. I got out and looked out back, and it appeared the liftgate was ever so slightly ajar. Pushing the open button on the liftgate caused it to beep, but nothing would happen. I tried to pull it open manually, to no avail. The app didn't work to open it either, but I could hear it trying to do something. Finally I just pushed hard on the liftgate and it auto-cinched closed. Then I could open and close as normal. Nothing was in the way of the liftgate. I know the frunks have had issues, so I'm curious if I'm alone in having had a rear trunk latch glitch.

Finally - not a bug, but someone dinged the passenger side door of my Gravity inside one week of ownership, a period of time in which I have religiously parked as far away from other vehicles as possible. FFFFUUUUUUUU

Speaking as someone whose GGT order just went into production, it is rather anxiety producing to realize that most (all?) Gravity reviews to date report serious flaws. I've been watching the reports of new software releases making some improvements, but it appears bugs are still widespread.

I imagine it's a bit frustrating to work at a service center, and be unable to do anything at all about many owner's complaints. The mechanics are just on hold waiting for the engineering team to release better software updates.

Can any owners who recently picked up their Gravity tell us if your were informed of how to do a fob reset and/or a steering wheel reset when you went through your delivery orientation? I know that Lucid may be reluctant to admit they are having these issues but if they don’t, they are going to have a large number of owners getting stranded, assume more serious problem with car and call for tow. Most new owners are not following this forum and otherwise would not have this knowledge.

This also should be required info given to reviewer loan cars. I know Lucid does not want to admit these issues to reviewers, but might be better to say “there is a small bug that we are working on that you might experience. If you do, these workarounds should fix things. We hope to have this little bug corrected soon.” Might be better to admit this issue up front than to leave customer or reviewer stranded out on the road somewhere.

I took delivery about a week ago, but nothing was mentioned about that although I knew about the key fob “reset”. I would assume the steering wheel reset is similar: remove the airbag and put it back in.
