Gravity Bugs / Issues

Can any owners who recently picked up their Gravity tell us if your were informed of how to do a fob reset and/or a steering wheel reset when you went through your delivery orientation? I know that Lucid may be reluctant to admit they are having these issues but if they don’t, they are going to have a large number of owners getting stranded, assume more serious problem with car and call for tow. Most new owners are not following this forum and otherwise would not have this knowledge.
It is in the manual. Customer care will also tell you how to reboot. They’re not reluctant to admit to issues; they’ve literally publicly stated their past issues with the fobs.

But - nobody is getting stranded (anymore). The fob updates (now done via mobile app) and car updates have not, to my knowledge, had anyone get stranded since they’ve been applied.

Turn Signal Malfunction:

Anyone else having this issue, or get it resolved by Lucid? It started the day I picked up the vehicle and happens between 80-90% of the time when I test it. My Gravity was in service for 10 days at Tysons Corner for other issues and this was reported, but they said they could reproduce. Here’s a video I uploaded and also sent to Lucid.

I mentioned this in the other thread but posting here for visibility as well:

yes I had this exact issue since the day I took delivery of the car. KOP fixed it by replacing the offending lighting assembly, although as I noted in the other thread I wouldn’t say it’s 100% perfect. It still does a weird short flash or two occasionally when it first comes on but so far always settles on normal blinking. Before it was the opposite where it would often blink okay once or twice and then go nuts. It makes me think that there must be something a little off with an ECU or something although the service report said they checked that first.

First, most/many people don’t read the manual. Second, the fob reset I don’t believe is in the manual. Finally, apparently the Consumer Reports reviewer had no idea about any of these “work arounds” and might have been a little less critical in his recent posting.

I was told how to do the soft reset; we tried several of them trying to get the car to be able to log into the delivery center's wifi. I was not shown how to do a fob reset, but I already knew.

People buying a vehicle should read the manual. I also agree that the delivery advisor should go over it with them.

And no, CR was plenty familiar that EVs have reboot methods. They have tested Teslas before, and they aren’t idiots. The reviewer’s whole message is about “ugh, this is what software defined vehicles get us,” which means he had an axe to grind.

That’s fine, and I don’t take issue with that; consumer reports is all about reliability and consistency, not anything else. Toyotas do very well on CR.

And the fob reset shouldn’t have been necessary in the first place, and shouldn’t be necessary any longer, given the fobs have been fixed.

most rational take in this whole thread

Speaking as someone whose GGT order just went into production, it is rather anxiety producing to realize that most (all?) Gravity reviews to date report serious flaws. I've been watching the reports of new software releases making some improvements, but it appears bugs are still widespread.

I imagine it's a bit frustrating to work at a service center, and be unable to do anything at all about many owner's complaints. The mechanics are just on hold waiting for the engineering team to release better software updates.
I took delivery in July. It isn’t perfect but I’ve had no major issues. I also had a ‘22 AGT and had read here about what some were dealing with so wasn’t expecting perfect. I also may just be super tolerant since mine always goes when I ask it to. 😊

@TahoeMichael: My GDE was delivered about a week ago. Therefore my sample size is still small, but most of my glitches have been annoyances rather than deal-breakers. They're things I'd mostly be embarrassed for a reviewer to see, but they haven't meaningfully taken away from my overall enjoyment and satisfaction with the vehicle. I know there is a range of experiences with different cars and builds, with some people having really unacceptably major issues (like drive replacements), but I'm so far on the pretty good side of things. Hopefully it's a sign that the builds are getting better and the software is slowly getting nailed down.

[furiously knocks on wood]

EDIT: After typing this, I went out to check and make sure my mobile key fob update hadn't messed anything up and, down went the driver's seat into lay-down mode; my first time experiencing that one. Lol.

Has anyone noticed their turns signals are have quit auto canceling after any but the sharpest turns?

Kinda thought that was standard for the car and Lucid. I've gotten used to it now. It's been doing that since day one and the Air I rented last year seemed to do that too.

My Air auto-cancels like any other car I've owned.

like just all on its own? My Air one time got stuck in Easy Entry mode and didn't go up. toggling it fixed it.

yes, all on its own. this behavior has been noted by several others. it's not a serious bug, because I just hit "restore" in the seating menu and it all popped back up. But it was odd just to have the seat decide that it was time for me to take a nap.

Our Air fails to cancel on a few turns where are other cars have always canceled, but both our Gravities fail to cancel on considerably more turns. I'm talking about on local roads with which I'm very familiar. But both my partner and I have noticed that the Gravities now seem to be failing to cancel on even more local turns than they did initially..

Owner here. We took delivery about a month ago. Was very excited about the car because honestly, it's beautiful... and it checks all the boxes.

But holy crap do we have a lot of problems with it. I'll share my own:

- Key Fob / Key card issue - Not recognizing it. Seems like the recent helped a bit. Support also helped by walking me through on how to reset the damn key fob.
- Black screen / infotainment
- Glitchy screen
- Driver's seat scoots all the way back and DOWN - This is not OKAY. We have our kid usually seated right behind us and we're lucky the seat doesn't crush him.
- Windshield wipers - They randomly turn on. Spray water. Get stuck in the middle of windshield.
- Volume for music doesn't adjust. You have to manually adjust the volume on the phone AND the car.
- Bluetooth is basically worthless as you can't talk to people on the phone. It's too soft on both sides.
- Car will not shift. Doesn't matter what you do. You just have to sit there awkwardly.
- Software is extremely slow to load up.

I really hope Lucid gets their act together and fixes a lot of these issues. It's not acceptable... especially for a car at this price point. If I had known about all the issues, I would've just gotten something else.

In the 4 months of ownership I’ve only had it happen once. It’s a bug but a very rare one at least.

In the Air, this is due to requiring a “seat homing” procedure which is a one-time software program service runs. I don’t know if it’s the same as Gravity, but it’s the same behavior that requires it.

Might be worth asking service if there’s a seat homing procedure for Gravity. I don’t know.
From a hardware-software technician perspective, you should be able to do this by moving the seat to its limit, then moving it to your preferred position and saving.

While I don't have a Gravity yet, I did notice on my test drive about a month ago that I always had to manually cancel the turn signal. Didn't know that was new behavior.
Strange, mine turn off automatically 90% of the time. It’s really only if it’s a larger sweeping turn that they don’t automatically turn off.
