Gravity Bugs / Issues

I actually have just turned WiFi off in the Gravity, it can still download OTA data with 1 bar LTE which I usually have in the driveway so it’s ok.
Same here. Haven’t connected my Gravity to my home WiFi based on reading on this forum that some thought it might be causing issues. I also only have one bar of LTE at home but connectivity (including for OTA software updates) has been totally fine.

I'd like to see that too. Obviously the battery would need to be removed to do so, which will re-initialize the fob. But it would be good to know the voltage on a 1-month old fob with the fix applied. I'd love ti cross off excessive fob battery use.
While I agree it would be good to definitely strike that as an issue, the fob has more issues than “simply” excessive battery drain. I will replace the battery weekly if the fob works 100% of the time!

I think the whole “battery is dead” thing came before we knew you could take it out and put it back in to reset the fob. Most of us just expected the battery was dead when fob was completely unresponsive and don’t carry around volt meters or whatever to double check.

I’ve since “re-used” a fob battery I thought was dead in a different device and it’s fine.

Yeah, this. Batteries weren’t dying; people just (reasonably) thought they were.

Slightly off topic, but I thought folks here would find it interesting to hear this story.

I bought my mom a new 2025 Audi A6 e-tron a month or so ago, replacing her 2021 Tesla Model 3. Today, she and a few passengers got stranded in the mall parking lot for 2 hours because her Apple Car Key stopped working. She didn't have the fob on her, so she called Audi Roadside – they sent a contracted tow truck to try and pry the door open, which didn't work.

In the meantime, she asked my brother to drive over with the key fob from her home. The key fob arrived, but... yep, the key fob wasn't recognized either. After a few minutes of trying and frantically mashing the buttons on the key fob, something finally, randomly, worked and the car sprang to life.

In the 4 years that my mom has owned a Tesla, and in the 4 years that I have owned a Tesla, we have never once had an issue like this.

She's understandably furious, as were her passengers. This kind of basic functionality not functioning correctly is inexcusable.

But if Audi, a seasoned legacy automaker, can't get it right, I guess I'm willing to be a tiny tiny bit more patient with Lucid. Nonetheless, I thought it was an interesting data point to share from a completely different automaker.

Then you were lucky. Thoughout the four years we owned our 2021 Model S Plaid we had intermittent problems with the key either not unlocking the doors and/or not starting the car. We were never able to venture out in it without a key card which we had to use during those times, times which sometimes lasted 2-3 days before the car started again recognizing the fob. Nor we were ever able to get the automatic gear selection feature to work with reliable accuracy, often trying to send us forward into our garage wall instead of backward out the door.

We never had the problem with our 2015 Model S P90D. However, it did go through four driver door latch mechanisms before one finally held held up for any length of time.

Lord knows we're having our problems with our two Gravities, but Tesla is not the brand I would hold up to them for contrast -- certainly not for build quality or, to some extent, for software sophistication.

This happened to me yesterday and rebooting also didn’t help me. What did resolve it was waiting over night. It was working when I got up this morning. Are you on 3.3.5? I’ve had this problem once and that was since upgrading to 3.3.5, but I’ve had my Gravity since late June.

If correlation is causation then I would have attributed it to the AWS outage, but the fact yours didn’t have the problem until today argues against that.

So Velocitron is back online?
Sadly, no. The car connects to WiFi in my home garage, but that’s it. App shows “Vehicle is Offline” everywhere else. Frustrating as I can’t use any of the remote functions until this is sorted 🙄

What’s has me scratching my head is the fact the in-car streaming entertainment services I’m logged into still function (Tune-In Radio, Sirius XM). If the vehicle is offline when I’m away from home, how are those things still working while I’m offline? 🤷🏻‍♂️

This is so weirdly funny. My mother in law, I found out, will have these exact experiences with her 2018 Tesla Model 3. Her iphone will not unlock the charging port or unlock the doors at random times (infrequently) - she (81 years young) always brings her proximity card with her.

I just had a similar issue with my polestar 3. The Apple Car Key had been flawless but then after taking the car in for service for a recall where they replaced a wiring harness the car wouldn’t lock or unlock, or detect the phone key, but it also would not recognize the key cards either on the doors (the NFC/UWB is in the door driver door handle). It did still work to put the key on the center console to drive but then the only way to lock or unlock the vehicle was through the app so if you had no service you were stuck. Turns out when they replaced the wiring harness they blew a fuse that killed the UWB in the doors. I wonder if something similar happened with the Audi mentioned above.

With our Teslas and Rivians the phone key can feel unreliable but I believe that is primarily the phone going into a deeper sleep and so the Bluetooth is off, as soon as you even wake your phone then the cars wake up. With Apple Car Key I never have to do that, lock and unlock works instantly at precisely the same distance every time. I can’t wait for Lucid to add support for it.

Maybe the car is only offline to the app and app controls.

I know you uninstalled/installed the app. Maybe log out of account, uninstall, turn phone off, and reinstall app.

As does the prolonged search for a permanent CEO.
I saw a recent comment in a different context: It's amazing how much CEOs get paid when you can apparently do without one for months-to-years without any business disruption, but when your low-paid employees leave everything falls apart.

New problem today: Music won't load. If you tap the icon it blinks and then goes back to the last screen. Steering wheel reboot nor sleep fixes it. Guess we have "Surreal Sound No" until this is resolved.

Thank you, what a relief to know I'm not the only one with this issue. Mine started yesterday, same exact behavior. I traced it to some sort of user profile corruption as I can change to a guest profile and music works, back to my profile and it's gone again. I'm just about to spend time creating a new profile to see if I can learn more about this problem.

Oh -- that's helpful. My husband called support and they told us they had no idea and would check with service but we probably need to bring it in.

I'm going to actually complain about something now -- the people you get when you call the national service number are HORRIBLE and seem to know NOTHING about the Gravity. Like, I'd be better off asking the checkout guy at Dunkin's for advice. On the other hand, our local service center people are great and actually seem to know what's what.

Is there just no training at all for the national call center folks? Do they have high turnover? Is it actually ChatGPT?

No idea about national. But agree that local SC is very helpful and responsive. They don’t always know issues exist or are widespread, but they want to help and clearly try to do so.

Had another horrendous service experience with Tesla today that may actually push my wife to “accepting” our second GGT despite what I am sure will be bugs, etc.

Oh man that sounds like a recipe for disaster. Ive never met a wife yet that can be pushed. They may let you think they could but sometime down the road when you least expect it at the most inopportune time they will push back. They never forget and always get even.

The answer to this question is a bit tricky but I can answer it from my personal experience in addition to what I've gathered from here:

For reference I took delivery of my DE on Jun 26th (in the first handful of them that were delivered). When I first got the car, the biggest issue I had was a connectivity issue requiring me to reboot or switch profiles back and forth EVERY TIME I got in the car which was fixed after the first software update that happened about a week or two after I took delivery.

I *knock on wood* have not been plagued by key issues like others on here....though I may be using my keyfob in a simpler, more consistent way (based on my preference of how I like to use the key) which may be contributing to my luck on that. I have had 2 brief, self resolving instances of "keyfob not detected" and I haven't had any of those in the last 3 months or so. So, those two things have moved in the correct direction along with a marked reduction in erroneous "wireless charging unavailable/headlight error" messages that I used to see with occasional frequency when I first got the car. Those messages along with the occasional random airbag light seem to have been essentially fixed. Nothing truly mechanical or catastrophic that prevented me from getting from point A to B on my drive. As far as I know, the only "mechanical" issue my car has is the 2nd row squeak which I had for 1 day until I moved the seat into a position that prevents it. I haven't had it since but I'm sure I can move the seats around to get it to return--I've opted to not have it fixed yet until Lucid pinpoints it and has a simple fix (currently, the service guy said he'd be instructed to replace the entire rear seat unit--likely with another one having the same issue).

That being said, the most recent 2 updates in an attempt to fix the keyfob issues and erroneous error messages seems to have introduced the black screen issue which is certainly an annoyance that can delay my departure out of the parking space... The latest update seems to have decreased the frequency of this to about 1/10 car starts and lasts about 15-20 seconds. I also occasionally have the disappearing graphic that displays the artist/song/SXM station next to the speedometer that others have reported. This did not happen when I first got the car. I also continue to have the issue where the ambient lighting color seems to revert to white (though this happens less often now than when I first got it).

So, overall, I'd say the software updates follow the mantra of "two steps forward, one step back". I do have faith that things will continue to get better over time.
As for how many people are having issues... that's very hard to say as the sample size here seems to be pretty small compared to the number of deliveries reported by Lucid. I do suspect that things like the erroneous error messages and black screens are probably happening in most (if not all) vehicles if it's an issue inherent to the software. The keyfob issue is a little bit more questionable as to how widespread it is. I suspect it's fairly widespread given the public acknowledgment and "rush" to fix it...but that may be due to some hardware issues that may only plague some of the vehicles. There's definitely a wide range of keyfob problems/successes here on this forum.

Some of the other issues that people seem to have such as window issues, GPS problems, camera malfunctions I think seem to be even less widespread and specific to back luck with certain vehicles.

At the end of the day, the issues I have are pretty minor software gremlins and I do not regret the purchase of the car at all! Hopefully my luck with the car is the majority situation with most deliveries rather than the handful of horror stories you'll see on this thread. My condolences to hmp10--I think he needs to stay inside during any lighting storms given his luck!
I have to stand with DrZorro here. My car has been pretty solid *knock on wood* to this point. I get the key fob not detected warnings upon entrance probably 4/10 times but a little shake always makes it go away. I don’t have the ambient lighting issues where it reverts back. I’ve had a couple times where my seat was way back when I get in the car but soon as I put my foot on the brake it puts me in my profile settings.

I’m not sure if anyone else does this but in my attempt to avoid any black screens or other fob issues upon walking to my Gravity I will always open the lucid app on my phone to “wake it up” before I get to it. Which might seem ridiculous to some, but I have yet to have proximity lock/unlock not work. And I haven’t got any black screens when doing that FWIW. Related? No idea, but it’s just what I do.

I just confirmed that creating a new driver profile resolves the missing music function, and coincidentally resolved, at least for now, some other bizzare UI bugs I've accumulated.
It's possible that certain bugs are linked to user profile handling, which could explain why some users experiences are different from others. Also possible that resource leakage is in the user memory space, separate from system memory, assuming Android OS has such separation. If so, then bugs randomly popping into user space could be temporarily cleared by refreshing driver profiles at certain intervals, until Lucid resolves the root cause(s). Most custom settings took 2-3 minutes to re-set, with exception of navigation Favs, which sucks to lose every time. But music is working now and I know how to get it back if it happens again, small victory today over Gravlins , a.k.a. Gravity gremlins.

Yes, same experience here. Before creating a new profile I've asked our local SC if there's some way to refresh the settings.

I wonder if all the random units choices, display button glitches, etc are all bad user profiles? I'm a bit stumped by how any of this is happening -- I would assume the settings are just JSON blobs. If the input validation is so bad it crashes bits of the system if anything isn't exactly right, that doesn't give me high hopes about the security of the platform.

This is a good observation. Now I’m wondering the same.
