Holding the unlock button may or may not be strictly necessary. Before I told @TribbleTrouble about this, she just removed and put it back in (by instinct, apparently), and it worked fine.

Did she ever happen to use a Treo smartphone back in the day? I had one and I was working with someone else who had the same model. Her Treo locked up/died while she was on her corded phone. She flipped it over, opened the back case, removed the battery, replaced it and put the cover back on all with one hand. It was impressive because she was obviously so used to having to do it it became second nature.

Fair point, but I only meant as a troubleshooting measure, not as a regular thing to do.

Hi, I just got my vin and delivered expected in 2 weeks. Im a little scared about all the fob problems, because im driving the car from NY to Fl in a month with my wife… is it possible to just use the cards and not even bother if the fob doesn’t work?? Any other advice for such a long trip? Thanks

Totally possible to drive with only key cards - just a tad annoying. You will be fine. Based on folks here, only a very small percentage have been totally locked out of car to the extent it had to be towed. Like <5 or something. You will want to be familiar with the ways to reset the car and the fob and have some extra fob batteries.

I would not hesitate at all to do any sort of road trip. You’ll get weird error messages that mean nothing, but it will be a joy to drive!!!

It's absolutely fine to drive with just the card. But also, if you have any fob issues, the workaround is easy until they fix it: take the battery out, wait 30s, put it back in while holding the unlock button. (Holding the unlock button may not be necessary; my wife didn't, and it worked fine, it's likely just to make sure any residual charge is depleted. The same can be accomplished by just waiting a little longer)

The fobs aren't killing batteries, I'm convinced, but feel free to keep an extra one on hand if it makes you happy. Replacing the same battery works, because it isn't the battery that is the issue.

You'll be fine. :)

(And yes, read the manual, and learn how to reboot the infotainment system just in case)
 
Backed my GGT out of the garage, then put it in drive. The alarm sound came on, like a door was open or whatever. No visual indicators on the display. Alarm wouldn’t silence. Put it in park, locked the door, walked away and came back. Again, when I put the vehicle in drive, the same alarm came on. Called CS, they had me do a hard reset. That fixed the issue. My CS rep said he hadn’t heard of this behavior before. Y one else? Oh yes, SW 3.3.2

I had one instance of the rear collision warning sound continuing after backing up. Stayed on while driving until I backed into another area that would have activated the warning. Put car in drive, sound stopped.

Only happened once; 2k miles driven thus far.
 
I know this has been mentioned, but it goes under the “I just don’t get it” that @HC_79 has referred to with certain bugs (especially nav from phone to car). The “seat moving” notification comes up but only moves half the time.

Why doesn’t easy entry/exit work all the time? I even set my seats in absurd positions to see what would happen. Sometimes they move to help me get out (or in), sometimes they don’t. And they don’t move to the same positions for exit or entry - my profile position doesn’t save fully. I feel like that’s a pretty “easy” if/then sort of code that doesn’t require multi threading and a flux capacitor Nvidia chip to be tuned like some of these other bugs.

I know, I know. Folks will say “it works for me” and that’s even more frustrating to me. Yes, I will put it on my service list and no, it’s not the end of the world.

Not a deal breaker, but an annoyance…multiple times a day.

But - my fob is working, so I should shut up. 🤣

I want to understand more - what do you mean your profile position doesn’t save fully? The easy entry and exit, right now, should move the seat all the way back and the steering wheel all the way up, not forward (if you have that setting on). I was wrong about this and assumed it was like the Air, but the manual states: “The Easy Entry & Exit feature moves the seat back and the steering wheel up to the highest possible position when entering and exiting the vehicle and adjusts the ride height to the lowest or highest position when exiting.”

For entering the car,
  1. When you open the driver's door, the seat and steering wheel will move to the Entry & Exit position.
  2. When you close the driver's door and press on the brake, the seat, side mirrors, and steering wheel will move to your saved profile position.
For exiting,
  1. Place the vehicle in P (Park).
  2. Open the driver's door. The seat and steering wheel will move to the Entry & Exit position.
NOTE: If the driver’s saved seat position is further rearward than the Easy Exit position, the seat will not move rearward on exiting with Easy Entry enabled. The steering wheel will continue to tilt to its maximum angle if it is not already in the maximum position on exiting.

You likely already know all this; but are you activating it with the door open? Are you pressing the brake to trigger it? Just want to rule out all the obvious.

My first Mercedes from 20+ years ago had easy entry that was glitchy and acted up (seat moved but not wheel or visa versa). I just turned it off. My new cars have easy entry but have never enabled it. Don’t like the idea of everything moving around me as I am trying to get out of car. Still use the preset buttons on the doors to change to my position if wife had previously driven car.

I am MUCH more interested in that other EASY ENTRY feature working - The door actually opening when I walk up to it and car starting without having to resort to work arounds.

I am also having this issue and yes, putting it in park, opening the door *usually* causes the easy entry/exit to move the seat back and steering wheel up, but not always. The more frequent issue I am having is, upon entry, it does not go back to my saved position. I have found the entry issue to be caused by potentially four things, two of which are my own actions that I need to adjust for this vehicle.

First, if I get into the car, buckle, and then put my foot on the brake and shift it out of park right away, I don't give it a chance to move the seat/wheel so I just need to adjust how I am getting into the car and put my foot on the brake before I buckle.

Second, if I put my foot on the brake too quickly (i.e., before the screens come up), it also doesn't trigger the easy entry/exit to move the seat and wheel into my saved position. I have to wait until the screen comes up before I can put my foot on the brake, which is why I have been doing the first thing. In short, both the first reason and this one just means that I have to slow down getting into the car and starting to drive. If I do that, the easy entry will work more consistently.

Third, the Gravity does not always recognize/go to my profile even though it is tied to my fob. I'd say 80%+ of the time it does recognize and go to my profile, but not always. When it does not go to my profile, it loads the guest profile and the seat and wheel do not move as there is no saved position for them to go to.

Fourth, the Gravity recognizes my profile and I put my foot on the brake after the screens come up and nothing happens. It doesn't move anything. I have to go into the seat screen and tap restore. Once I do that, everything moves and it is good to go. This only happens maybe 10% of the time (rough guess).

Once I account for my actions causing it not to work, I'd say the easy entry/exit works around 75% of the time for me. I am fine living with this for now as it isn't a big deal, but definitely something I'm hoping improves with software updates.
 
Anyone’s front dash ambient lighting not turn on when driving? It turns on when I initially get into the car but turns off when I’m driving. I don’t think that’s a feature lol.
 
Has anyone seen a USB drive that was working with Halo stop working? Mine worked for the first week and as of this morning. I removed and reinserted the drive. Didn’t have time to reboot. Will try that this afternoon.

Yes, this is consistent across the Tech Package. Theory is that it is off when driving so as not to be a distraction.

For entering - seat moves a bit and stops - like something is in its way, but it’s not. Wheel never moves. I have my wheel set fairly low and my seat fairly far forward, so I’d expect more movement and, sometimes, I get it.

When I close door - seat moves a bit, but inconsistently and not to my actual profile position. Super weird. So, I move my seat forward and tap “save” on the screen hoping this will be the time it remembers. Wheel just stays in same position always.

For exiting - same as entry. A tiny bit of movement, but not enough to make anything “easy” and I am not a large person. Sometimes it moves more than others. So, I wondered if there was a way to save the preferred “exit” position but didn’t see any mention in manual.

Really great questions. I think it’s just a bug as the car thinks it’s doing something with a notification on the left side of cockpit saying seat is moving - but it’s inconsistent and has yet to ever operate the way it did in the AGT loaner I had.

Mine has stopped once or twice due to not mounting correctly on start. But, after a nap, it works fine.

Yeah that’s a lame reason cuz the ambient lighting in the Air works reliably all the time and is on when driving, but it’s also not flashy bling bling like in the EQS. And also isn’t on the dashboard itself, so maybe they did that on purpose for the Gravity but a lot of these things people are reporting sure don’t sound deliberate to me.

In the Air, this is due to requiring a “seat homing” procedure which is a one-time software program service runs. I don’t know if it’s the same as Gravity, but it’s the same behavior that requires it.

Might be worth asking service if there’s a seat homing procedure for Gravity. I don’t know.
