I have a GGT on order, but keep thinking maybe I should change to Dream edition. Can’t make up my mind.
While I like the hp, I don’t like the lower range, which may be clinically insignificant as we now have access to Tesla SC. The color we want is not available for Dream, but it’s not a big deal. Green is acceptable.
And do I really need the extra power? How does that translate into daily commute?
The price difference isn’t that much if that’s spread over 5 years. But on the other hand, that money can be invested.
And do I want to get delivery now with the hiccups reported in the forum?
I know there are members switching between these 2 trims, and would love to hear your thought process.

The EPA range difference between the GGT and the GDE with the summer tires/wheels is 16 miles. Given that driving at typical highway speeds, you're only going to see ~80% of that range at best, you're talking a difference of 12-13 miles. Completely immaterial, especially with Tesla SC available.

I really wanted the Lunar Titanium, having not been wowed by the Aurora Greens I had seen in showroom lighting. But when we saw our first Aurora Green in the sunlight when we showed up for the test drives, we were blown away. It is more of a green/gray than the olive hue which seems to dominate in photos. We have had quite a few people comment how much they like ours in that color.

And do I really need the extra power? How does that translate into daily commute?

In stop-and-go traffic, it's going to make almost no difference. But as speed increases, I think the sense of "liveliness" will increase substantially. Other than on a test drive that was useless for gauging this, I have not driven a GGT. However, we have driven loaner Air GTs for prolonged periods while our Air Dream Performance was in for service. There's nothing languid about any Lucid GT, but the Air just seems to come more "alive" in Dream guise, conveying a greater sense of just being able to will the car into place with neither drama nor resistance.

Even though the GDE power increase is "only" 242hp versus the 292hp bump up of the Air, I still get that enhanced sense of liveliness at speed in our GDE that I get in our Air Dream P.

For a $14K price premium, I think it's a colossal bargain.

My son is driving the Gravity. We traded his Model X Plaid. He misses some of the Tesla features, auto door open and close, but says that the Gravity drives and rides much better. The HUD is not adjustable, yet, and only has basic functions active. There are software bugs that we assume will be fixed at some point. Software issues are a common problem for Lucid, and I hope that they are putting the money and time into building their software group.

So far, he is very happy with the GDE.

The apples-to-apples comparison is a 7 seat Grand Touring compared to the Dream, since the Dream is only available with 7 seats.

For 20/21 wheels: GGT 437 EPA range, Dream 410
For larger wheels: GGT 386 EPA range, Dream 370

The 5 seat Grand Touring has a range as high as 450, but there's reason to believe that is an artifact of the EPA testing process, and real world driving won't see much difference between 5 and 7 seats. As others mentioned, it's probably reasonable to apply a 80% factor for real highway driving, and discount the EPA range. A lead foot, cold weather, altitude gains, etc, will impact yet more.

With all the chatter about Air updates slowing last year because Gravity was the focus, I'd hoped for a more robust debut for Gravity.

I went from GT to DE reservation because the range hit wasn’t that bad on the 20/21 wheels (GDE = 410 vs 7 seat GGT = 437 miles) and thought if would be cool to have the top of the line trim with max power. I was hopeful it would be available sooner too cuz my wife’s family from Korea is visiting in October and I thought it would be great if we could take one car around rather than two. I switched July 7 and haven’t heard anything more about my order after the confirmation email.

As we were driving home this evening from dinner the dashboard accent light suddenly went out.

When I pulled into the garage I went through all the lighting-related software controls to see if I could find one that controlled that LED strip separately and that had spontaneously activated as some other software features have been doing. I could find none.

Finally, I hit the button to turn on the cabin reading lights . . . and the dashboard accent light turned on. WTF?

I swear. This car is bleeding my patience out by a thousand small cuts.

I think the mobile app may be the source of the problem. I’ve had this happen randomly 2 or 3 tkmes) and think it’s when I unlock the car from the mobile app it switches to the guest profile.

Doing a road trip so haven’t had time to double check and mess around with it though.

Brilliant observation! You are quite correct: I just tested this and ended up with the Guest profile. Now that I know the app is responsible I know to switch back to my profile whenever I have to use it to unlock the car. Thank you.

This is interesting as maybe I’m just projecting my own recent service problem onto yours (my HVAC was erratic, they isolated it to a single wire having too high resistance and now my HVAC is great), but if you pressed what is basically an analog switch for the reading light and that also turned on ambient lighting which is controlled by software, it almost sounds to me like a wiring gremlin somewhere that has too high resistance, but opening the circuit by pressing the overhead lamp switch overcame the resistance and then the lights were able to be controlled like normal. I don’t think mobile service can solve your issues, they need to take your car apart.

OK, I placed the order from a Dream and blamed this on peer pressure .
On another note, if my memory serves me right, your mother thought the GT was too costly, so how are you going to justify the Gravity Dream to her?

Ah that wasn’t my scenario you’re remembering. My attitude is that cars lose money and are a foolish financial pursuit unless you’re a high end collector that barely drives them, so might as well light extra $ on fire to get the version of the car you want the most.

I think this is a 3.2.2 SW bug. I've also noticed that our dashboard accent lights were off -- but sanctuary mode activates them!

Then I noticed that the the 2nd-row driver side door accent lighting seems to be missing a channel and the color is different than the rest. I haven't checked this again after a reboot -- could be SW or HW. Super weird, but also something that seems easy to miss during PDI if a cable is bad or not fully seated. I can't imagine the PDI goes through a full color cycle of the accent lighting....

Does anyone else have a bug/issuewhere the system time is 3 minutes off? Specially 3 minutes fast. Changing times zones or any of the resets doesn't change it as it is likely getting time from a NTP server somewhere but why is it not the same time as every other networked device?

WHOA, someone said 'NTP'! We have some networking folks.

Too true! All vehicles especially high end EVs lose value fast…. After selling my Cybertruck and EQS580 I can definitely tell you about lighting cash on fire. Cumulatively both cars lost more than 110K in 1-2 years. Ouch…. Dumpster fire. I’m guessing my new Lucid and Rivian will be a rinse repeat of the same…
And if you want the HUD the only “quick” way to get it is the GDE - plus it comes with the extra horsepower kicker…. A nice way to burn more cash. Fortunately my spouse is very forgiving of me being insane.
