Gravity Bugs / Issues

I tried the smaller one and it was not fitting. I’ll try again.

To your previous comment regarding the airflow to the third row- thanks for pointing it out. I tried it today. My kids are low weight and when they were sitting in two seats it didn’t work but when I asked them to sit on one seat together the vent started working. @HC_79 mentioned works with only occupancy. Please do try out again and check.
I turned the rear AC on manually to check the airflow. 2nd row blows great, 3rd row is nada.

Try again torture one more time by placing somebody in the third row and check. As I mentioned before I guess weight in the seats matters for the air vents to get activated.
Mg wife sat in the second tie to check the goes in the third rope with kids seated there.
May be give one more try and see

A picture is worth a thousand words... This is iThinkEv's car from a prior post ...my spoiler has the exact same alignment. I've also seen others that look the same.
Whatever it is it’s subtle, I can’t see what you’re talking about. A lot of spoilers are designed to flex with speed as that increases downforce so I don’t think any “squishy” aspect of it is concerning.

It’s the alignment. Zoom in on where the spoiler meets the pieces next to it.

Oh now I see it. Yeah that line is disrupted. 🤦‍♂️ At least it’s not like the early “within spec” trunk misalignment for the Air where there’d be a 1/2cm gap on one side and almost no gap on the other.

This test drive video shows the same spoiler misalignment beginning at 0:30. It might be common to all the Gravities?

That’s possible. I had them note it on the due bill just in case.

Yeah it may be a deliberate aero choice. 🤷‍♂️

I have a feeling this is not an assembly/adjustment issue but rather the result of two adjacent pieces being of different materials and/or manufacturing methods. Such things are devilishly difficult for manufacturers to avoid, and many don't even try beyond a certain point.

Hondas used to be noted for their extraordinarily-precise panel alignments, but it was a very difficult and expensive result to produce. After some years in the American market, they began to suspect that American buyers weren't that focused on it, and their market research supported the suspicion. So Honda backed off a bit in their pursuit of perfect panel alignment, and they never found evidence of its hurting their sales or reputation.

I suspect similar thinking might prevail at Lucid beyond what they perceive as the point of diminishing returns, as it does with most automakers.

I just finished a more involved test drive of another Gravity GT. While it too had the spoiler misalign, as did the display one (at the Burlington mall in Massachusetts), it’s pretty minor and subtle, like you gotta look for it to notice it and it doesn’t bother me in the slightest. Also I confirmed the 3rd row vents work GREAT if you’re sitting in them. They don’t activate until 1) you’ve manually turned rear climate on from the driver seat, and then 2) have an adult weight sitting in the back seat. I was impressed by how well the 3rd row vents worked actually, that seat is really comfortable, it was my first time sitting back there. This test drive Gravity also had a non-functioning fob but keycard worked without fuss. And what I didn’t notice the first time, cuz I didn’t have much time on the test drive due to my schedule, is the 22/23” wheels are remarkably smooth, I’d expected a little bit more bump over bumps but man the Gravity is just posh on the road, at the lowest ride height setting you can drive in, in sprint mode (I never went over 45mph but still this thing is way the hell more composed than anything else I’ve ever driven, car or SUV).

This test drive Gravity also had a non-functioning fob . . . .

Yes, Lucid. By all means make sure as many people as possible get exposure to a Gravity with a non-functioning fob. And be sure not to stop with test drives. Make sure reviewers get their hands on them, too, just as you did with the Air. I'm sure you remember how well that worked out.

We're going to have three Lucids in our garage, which means three identical-looking keycards in each of our wallets. I DO NOT want to have to dig the right keycard out of my wallet or wait for my phone to connect to the car when it is much easier just to grab a key fob going out the door as I have done for years with our other cars.

I just get angrier at every new report of a Gravity that won't respond to its fob. WTF is going on with that particular team at Lucid? Is it run by someone's nephew?

Something else just occurred to me, as our Gravity is still with the PPF installer and we haven't checked this out yet. How will our mobile keys know which car we're trying to enter? In the Lucid app, you have to select whether you want to access the Air or the Gravity. When the second Gravity arrives, this will add a third car to the app menu. This will put an extra step in using the mobile key when all three Lucids are in the garage.

Again, just grabbing the fob for the car we are taking is much easier.

Yeah all the other teams seem to have put together a really remarkable vehicle. While I do not know the internal goings on (did engineering manufacturing or software raise a red flag about something Lucid had committed to with the fob system and was shot down, or could they just not figure it out, or is there a flaw in the build of the fob itself?), given this seems to be even worse than the already frustrating mobile key vs fob part of the Air, I think whoever is in charge of that part of the car needs to either fix the fob rapidly or be gone. Like the rest of the car is GREAT. It’s such a silly problem. Maybe the fix just hasn’t been pushed to all test drive vehicles or all owners yet? Cuz somebody on here got their fob fixed and now it’s fine, I forget who?

I’m continuing to struggle with this issue. Just when I think the key card is the 100% solution, it too fails me. Last night leaving a restaurant it wouldn’t go into reverse and when it finally did, no cameras. I’m feeling like I have a lemon perhaps if most others are not experiencing my issues. I have the media disappearing issues, a headlight issue that says to call service, refuses to go into gear even when the car unlocks and loads my profile. The fob is useless unless you simply wish to unlock and sit in your vehicle.
The key issues are fundamental though, I can deal with almost everything else but if the car fails to function for basic transportation I’m close to giving up on this car and company.

If you think this is a lemon then thank god you didn’t get an early Air. An OTA hasn’t been released since these vehicles hit peoples driveways so how about having some patience and see what the next OTA resolves / fixes or call Lucid again and demand they look at the fob again as 3 weeks in for me, my fob just works as it should.

I'm about 3 weeks in and I also do not have any key issues. Perhaps your settings are different than mine and how you are interacting with the car is different...That may make the difference. Here's what has worked for me since day 1:

--I have the proximity/auto lock/unlock thing in the settings switched to OFF
--To open the car: Key in pocket, approach car, push in the door handle...It then presents and the door opens (and car drives without issue)
--To lock the car: Key still in pocket, push door handle in until mirrors begin to fold. Let go, door handles disappear. Walk away.

I don't have to ever touch the fob. It stays in my pocket. Works every time! Let us know what your settings/procedure is so maybe we can figure out how to solve the issue.

To add to this, the key does go to sleep by design to preserve battery so if you’re storing it in an area that’s not moving it a lot it could still be asleep while approaching the car. I have mine in my front pocket and it freely moves around while walking and haven’t had to take it out to get the car to unlock.
