It’s an easy mistake to make in this forum. The topics that show up in your feed could be old zombie threads that are somehow related to the current topic, appearing to be new. I’ve since learned to look at the date of the post before responding, but it requires careful attention to detail.

We're having some bugs creep back into one of our Gravities. On the way home from dinner the massage function suddenly turned on in the driver seat. No one had been anywhere near the screen to turn it on. When we got to the house, the car failed to power down even after we plugged it in. The music kept playing, the screens stayed lit, and the front headlights continued to pulse. I finally noticed an image showing the front passenger door as open. I checked it, and it was shut tight. I had to double reboot the car (by waiting for the second chime before releasing the reboot buttons) to shut it down and clear out the errors.

I think it has something to do with the sinkholes, which I have found to be figurative as well as literal in Florida.

The Gravities are now the least of my worries. In fact, they've been behaving very well since the last two software updates until last night's hiccough.

Right now, we've got bigger issues. Last Saturday just before dusk our next-door neighbor was sitting on her lanai with her back to the side screen. A black Ford pickup drove past our house, stopped in the middle of the road alongside the large open space between us, and shot at her. The shooter was using a noise suppressor, but she heard the bullet whiz by her. Everyone on the street has video cameras. We got shots of the incident and one blurry shot of the driver's profile but, unfortunately, no clear image of the license plate. Two deputies spent the night at her house, and she is now out of town.

Her husband is a retired DEA agent and now splits his time as a government contractor and as the weapons instructor for the local Sheriff Department. He is out of the country right now on an assignment. He and his wife also run a charity-funded protection consulting service for victims of abuse. We think one of these factors might be the reason their house was targeted.

The "Free State of Florida" has gone absolutely gun crazy. Our neighbor has a sizable arsenal related to his work. The house beyond him has a gun room off the master bedroom hidden behind a movable floor-to-ceiling mirror. Two years ago our HOA spent several months and a good bit on legal fees getting an unlicensed gun range shut down at a residence on a nearby street. Even though they were cited for code violations, the local deputies were reluctant to enforce it because of recent state legislation that made it more difficult to restrict any gun use on private property. It had gotten to the point that we and our neighbors could not carry on conversations on our lanais on the weekends because of unrelenting gunfire noise carrying across the lake. Occasionally weapons were being fired that created concussion we could feel in our chests more than a mile away. Based on what I see on NextDoor.com, Saturday was far from the first incident of bullets whizzing through lanais out our way. But most seem to be the result of reckless target shooting from surrounding houses. People have found spent bullets in their pools, holes through their screens and grill covers, pulverized stucco. Saturday's incident, though, was clearly targeted.

We moved here thinking the alligators would be our biggest safety concern.

I did try the exorcism you suggested . . . but the lake just caught fire.

Has it been confirmed that the longer reboot button hold is really a thing? In other words, is there really a 2nd "deeper" reboot, or was that just an assumption someone made early on and we've been running with it ever since (wishful thinking)?

And if it is real, what does it really do differently?

I was told to do it a while back by Lucid Customer Service. They said the first chime rebooted mainly the Infotainment features and that the second chime rebooted some additional subsystems.

I suggested it would be nice if the car could auto-park in my garage. That is, after all, the place you park most. If it could perfectly center itself in the space available and ensure clearance for the garage door to close that would be epic.

My 26 X5 could do this. You could have it record you parking in the garage once and then it would replicate it moving forward.

my i7 does this everwhere too, it records 100 something feet before parking. You just start the car, tap the button and it will reverse out the same path.

Good question. If I were 10 years younger, it would have already happened. When I retired in Chicago 16 years ago, we were on the fence about moving back to California which I had loved or moving into the vacation home we'd had in Florida for some time. We chose Florida because most of my partner's extended family were frequent visitors to Florida, and he had already been diagnosed with the early-onset dementia that was going to take him. At that point, Florida had its eccentricities but was not stark raving mad. But years of talk radio and Fox News misinformation about immigrants, crime, and the politics of escalating culture war nonsense has turned this place into a veritable nuthouse.
 
I was able to get parallel self parking to work a few times. When it finds a spot (rarely), it works perfectly and can park in very tight spaces.

The big problem is finding a spot. That's very buggy. You have to engage self park before driving through the spot, and even so, most times it just ignores it.

The other problem is that it's so absurdly slow to start, that it's useless with any traffic behind you. You will just piss everyone around.

@marqie is anybody there even working on that? The hard part seems to work just fine.

I have noticed that when 'Max' cool is turned on it turns seat cooling to max and then turning 'Max' off does not return the seat cooling to previous state as it does to the rest of the climate system as it is supposed to. When the seat cooling is set to the highest setting it makes a slight whistling noise.
 
I've got the same whistling sound with the max seat cooling, and at higher fan speeds the vents are loud in general (presumably just a flaw with the hardware design and nothing to be fixed).

My bigger annoyance is with the A/C seemingly not remembering "sync" or "fan off" between drives. When I get into the car, it seems like it always comes back on with A/C and fan on (at lowest speed) and with sync disabled, even if I exited the car previously with Sync enabled and fan off. Not sure if this is intended behavior (which would see nonsensical, to not remember the state that the driver left it in) or a bug.
