Gravity Bugs / Issues

I have the same issue. Even the new update today did not resolve. It only shows online when I'm on wifi at home.

Appreciate the update. Come back to us in a few days on the frunk. I will be pleasantly surprised if it continues to work as it should for several days.
I've had the car back for about a week now, and I was about to say that in my tests so far the frunk opened after the first try every time. But just decided to try again and it got stuck again. God damn it.

Software update v3.3.8

Just did this update. The screens do seem to wake up faster. I did have to reload my profile. It defaulted to the guest profile.

I haven’t looked, but does the guest profile prevent you from unlocking the glovebox? I ask because I wouldn’t want a valet to have access to anything in the glove box (registration information with home address, self-defense item, etc.).

I am not a tech/IT/engineering professional so this is a question for posters on this forum that are knowledgeable in this area, of which there seem to be quite a few. I have searched the forum but have not found any answers to the following question. When the vehicle shows as 'offline' in the app, is this as a result of a Lucid server issue or something else? Car is working fine via fob/keycard and shows a few bars of LTE coverage. I've tried restarting phone and reloading app but I still get 'vehicle offline' in the app. Has happened in the past but only intermittently. Other than this recent issue and some orange/yellow warnings popping up momentarily on occasion, car has been fantastic since 3.3.5 and center console replacement.
I recall that @bryway had that issue.
Not sure if it has been resolved or not.

Do internet streaming apps like Spotify work when the app says the car is offline?

That's not Lucid.
That's the @Ron_Burgundy jinx.
That's why he asked you to update him.

Check your cameras through Halo Secure.
I bet you see him walking past your car and flashing two fingers at it.

Everything is the car works just fine. All apps and settings. The main issue is the app is effectively useless. No preconditioning or changing settings or live view. The Lucid app just won't do anything if it reads car offline. The car itself is quite online and doing everything it is supposed to do.

I have that problem as well on occasion, even with the 3.3.5 + keyfob update. It's almost certainly a server + software architecture issue.

Think about it as 3 systems that need to be in sync with your car status:
  • The car itself (which has the advantage that it's all local hardware)
  • Your app/keyfob (which can either connect to the car via radio/UWB when that becomes available and would be a direct connection, or through Lucid's servers)
  • Lucid's online servers
The mobile tech who came out yesterday to flash the keyfob confirmed for me that a part of the 3.3.5 update was to enable all the antennas in the car so they can detect the keyfob properly, but required the keyfob firmware update I guess to be more aggressive about sending out its signal. So that takes care of the lock/unlock issues, the direct connection.

The 3.3.5 update also seems to have sped up the "black screen" issues with bootup, which was another factor with the car feeling like it's dead or slow to respond. The problematic "wake from sleep" issues that have made people reboot their cars is now just less frequent.

So the remaining point of flakiness is the ability for Lucid's servers to remotely wake up the car and provide the app an accurate status, and it sounds like it's a one-way check: if the server fails to wake up the car or the car doesn't respond fast enough, it flags the car as offline and calls it a day. Even if the car eventually does wake up, it doesn't call home (i.e., the servers) so your app is stuck with the car being offline. Like most things, that sounds like a software fix. :)

Has anyone been able to get Live View to work on the Lucid iPhone app when the car is parked in the garage with a WiFi connection? I have not. I always get “Connection Failed.”

Never! It's mind-boggling how Lucid could even consider this an alpha release, let alone beta.

I got it working when my car was back at the service center last night... i could see around it from the app, but this morning is gone... maybe they turn it off so i couldn't see the service center.

The most worrying thing about this is that the software problems I thought (hoped) were limited to UI software may also be affecting drive components. That's a very different kettle of fish from false dashboard warnings and messed up audio.

With our own Gravities we've seen software-related problems with the rear drive unit, the GPS system, the navigation system, the key fob, the power-up process, and window operation.

These are not minor annoyances. And their occurrences being reported by so many owners just on this forum signal a major problem for Lucid -- a situation not helped by loaning a car with a defective rear drive unit to Tom Moloughney of "State of Charge" for a highly-anticipated range test.

I agree with @Bunnylebowski. Lucid should quit shipping cars until this mess is sorted out. (In fact, they never should have started deliveries, but that's a moot discussion at this point.) The fact that they haven't is one of the reasons I think we're going to see the same problems when the Earth mid-size launches. Regrettably, Lucid is turning out to be a company that cannot face reality, and that is the deadliest disease that can infect any company.

Here's the reality I'm dealing with. My partner is taking the Air tomorrow for a dental appointment followed by a tennis match. I asked why he didn't want to take one of the Gravities, and he said he needed to be sure he could get to both places on time.
Something able to be fixed with software isn’t necessarily a software problem. Sometimes, hardware that doesn’t perform to spec can be made to perform more to spec via software to work around (or fix) limitations there in hardware. No idea if that’s the case here, but it absolutely could be.

If @Adnillien is correct (which I'm pretty sure he is), then this tracks something @borski pointed out: the software dimension of Lucid power electronics and the powertrain is solid. But it still leaves the issue of why there are so many colossal misfires on the UI/Infotainment end of things.
Different teams.

An update from me since I got my car back from service a few days ago.

For the second row squeak, considering I definitively showed that the noise was coming from the seat belt holder, the fix by service was to apply more lubrication. The good news is that I can't reproduce the squeak from that seat belt holder anymore. The bad news is the noise came back the very next day but I still have no idea where it's coming from because when I jiggle any of the three seat belt holders in the back, they don't make a sound.

The frunk not opening correctly half the time got fixed and it opens correctly now.

They replaced my Bluetooth microphones but Bluetooth still sucks really hard. I think it's either terrible hardware or all in the software (noise cancellation).

The weird noise that was coming from my driver door is fixed as they replaced the motor there.

They couldn't verify and reproduce the issue with pressing the buttons on the steering wheel where a lot of times it requires multiple presses, but considering I had the same issue on the loaner Gravity, I think it's a more systemic problem that will perhaps get a solution down the road.

They could not reproduce the issue with wired charging from the front center console, but my Pixel 10 Pro XL was not charging in my car or the loaner Gravity, so I think they need to do more testing with various devices, like the Pixel line. Considering my phone charges from the rear chargers, I believe it is a 100% software negotiation issue.
Yeah the steering wheel buttons must be a software calibration issue. Sometimes my left Dream drive X button doesn’t cancel it until I press it very hard 4 times until I find the exact right spot. Other times it works the first try. Same with climate buttons, same with screen buttons. It’s a mess. The right touch pad on my wheel works great, but the left one is wildly inconsistent. And what you say makes sense about the software negotiation of your Pixel not charging on front USBC but charges fine on second row USB c. What a weird problem.

I may have missed this, but did you try completely logging out of your Lucid account in the app, then deleting and reinstalling the Lucid phone app and re-logging in from scratch, and also logging out of the car and back in? It may not help but I couldn’t tell if that had been tried.

This once again sounds like my thoughts that there is a global defect in the confirmation systems between vehicle software and hardware. The software doesn’t know the seat is down or you didn’t set the fan to max or did press rear climate or did roll down your window or really do want the frunk open or your headlights are in fact working or rear steering actually is fine. It’s like there’s no “close the loop” code in the car, or something is recurrently interfering with that “close the loop” dialog.

Others with this problem have tried that to no success, so at this point, I have not bothered with doing that.

An update on an issue I previously reported. I approach the car and the drivers side door handle presents but none of the others. I previously mistakenly reported it was just the drivers side rear that did not present. After trying this several times I walked away from the car, let it self lock and when I approached again all four handles presented.
So I think whomever suggested this was a profile issue where the different profile only unlocked the drivers door was spot on.
