RESOLVED Frunk Issue

Phew, quite a wait but glad they fixed the issue at its root…I suppose the delay was largely that they wanted to wait for the re-engineered version of the part. (I sure hope my Nov.’24-built AT got that new one too…!!)

Did it have to go into the service center or did a mobile tech do it?

They can fix your latches via mobile service.
Interesting, they wanted me to bring my car to the service center (at the end of March) for the latches.

It depends on the fix. Just an adjustment can be mobile. Replacement is usually in-house.

This is what he did which lasted all of one day.

@mcr16 @Nick.Twork is there any possible alternative way to fill my washer fluid while the frunk is broken? It makes me really uncomfortable to drive without any washer fluid from now until the end of March, which is the earliest appointment you guys have.

I don't know if they're called strikers but they've been adjusted twice --once in the Tyson's VA shop overnight in November, once earlier this month by mobile tech. Very frustrating that in both cases it worked properly at first, then reverted to half-release only, from app and from pilot panel. The ONLY way to get my gear out of the frunk is to stand in front of it, press-hold once, wait for partial release, then press-hold again for the second (full) release.

With all the tech brilliance behind this car, how can this frunk thing remain unsolved?

From this thread, it seems there are three separate problems occurring with the frunk latches: software hiccups, trim piece interference, and eventual failure of the latches due to water intrusion.

We've had recurrent frunk lid problems. Several disappeared with software reboots. One disappeared after the car sat overnight. One required a trim piece realignment. And now we're getting latch replacements due to water intrusion-induced failure.

Our car was a very early build (No. 395). Has anyone with a build from the last year or so had these problems, or has Lucid addressed them at the source?
I have a 2024 air pure and the frunk has never consistently worked right. Bought it September 2024.
