Having just changed my wipers, I have a feature request for Lucid to consider. My Audi cars have had a wiper service mode that moves the wipers part way up the windshield so that it is easier to change the wiper blades. I'm not sure that it would work with the hood of the Lucid, but I wish they'd at least investigate.

Changing the passenger side wiper blade is a real challenge even with the frunk open. I found a YouTube video on this, but they suggested removing the plastic cover that is under the hood. I've done that once to fix the wiper slipping. Taking it off was easy. Putting it back took at least an hour to the tabs lined up so that's out for me.

Anyway... Lucid, if you read this, please consider a wiper service mode to make this easier for owners. Potentially low hanging fruit...

That would be useful, for sure. But I don't think Lucid particularly wants us chaging our own wiper blades on Air?

That top cover is a royal PITA to get back on, for sure.

I have never successfully removed that thing and put it back without breaking at least three clips. I do not believe service can even do it, or there must be a sign that says “0 days since clips broken” or similar :p

I’ve taken the whole car apart and put it back together at this point (not the whole car obviously, but most of the outside body and interior dash and stuff) but those stupid clips are the only thing that ever gave me a hard time.

I got a second cover eventually lol and it was fine.

A service position would be handy even if it only went a few inches and you still did it with the hood open. A full up service position even better.

Why would Lucid not want us changing wiper blades? That's a super weird one if so.

The blades on the Lucid are a bit unique; instead of separate sprayers for windshield washer fluid, these are actually *built into* the wiper arms. They work quite well, but changing the blades means changing the silicon wiper more than the blades, and I don’t know where you’d find the blades.

I could be wrong, but that’s my understanding.

So it’s not so much that they don’t want you to, but that I don’t know where you’d find the part.

Hey, there’s a section in the manual now about replacing and cleaning the blades and jets! https://publications.infotainment.p...tml#GUID-414D7CCC-B527-420B-A4E5-643ED0F94C69
Yeah. I had referred to this. I didn't find it particularly helpful.

Lucid sent me the rubber/silicon inserts of the wipers when I requested, but... I still had to take the whole blade off (and figure out how) to replace the inserts. Lucid could make this easier on us by 1) having a service mode, 2) having clear documentation on how to do all this, and 3) helping point us at a good supplier for the part(s).

Heads up, that's missing a big warning:
Do not lift the wipers while auto wipers are on. Probably best to leave your keys far away even. The car will attempt to pull the wipers back down and they will slam down hard, hitting the plastic trim at the base of the hood on the way down.

Also there is something that lets the wipers lift freely, no need to mess with the black cover under the hood. I just don't know what that something is. Sometimes they move, sometimes they're locked, and I haven't figured out what the difference is.

You also risk the wiper arm bolt coming loose when you force it up or down, or when the auto wipers activate while you are working on them.

Even for car washes, I always turn off Auto-wiper mode. In fact, off is my default position for the wipers. If it's raining, it is trivial to tap on auto to get them started.

and I don’t know where you’d find the blades.

I was able to get replacement rubbers from the Service Center. Turns out the driver's side had been dislodged by the plastic lip below the windshield, which was not flush with the glass. Once this was pounded into place the wipers work flawlessly. I accessed by turning off wipers and opening funk.
