Polish-in a silicone-based glass treatment like RainX and your wipers will do a better job. Be careful not to mix silicon-based washer fluid with "regular" fluid as it will streak and be worse than either two alone. Completely dry before applying silicone if cleaning glass with Windex or similar alcohol-based glass cleaner.
Also check that the rubber edge of your wiper blade is fully inserted in the groove, as it will catch on the plastic trim at the lower edge of the windshield ... make sure it's pushed fully in place and smooth. Also, as mentioned, cleaning the rubber edge of the blade helps a lot. The rubber inserts are available at the service center. I bought a new pair, which I did not need once I saw the problem was the plastic trim edge at the bottom of the windshield.
