Lucid Air Grand Touring P
Took deliver of my GTP on Monday. Came up from Florida and David was Johnny on the Spot addressing all my requests including delivery of the car with no wash and all the protective film left on the car. First thing is the trailer it was delivered in...sketchy is the nicest word I can come up with to describe it. The pics don't really convey how bad this trailer was. When he was backing it off the trailer the entire rear end of it behind the axles collapsed to the ground and then sprung back up when the front tires rolled off onto the door/ramp putting some nice deep gouges on the underside of the spoiler. Had the car delivered directly to the shop for PPF and ceramic coating so had some sharp eyeballs looking the car over and ended up with a page and a half of things that needed fixing/adjusting. It was glaringly evident that nothing was done to the car the week it spent in FL for final "inspection". All the usual suspects. trim mold not aligning and in a couple of places just popped up probably 1/8" or better. Battery charge door misaligned, front driver's door misaligned. Trunk misaligned about 1/4" to the right. The right front fender misaligned. Been sitting at the shop since Monday and still waiting on them to give us a date a tech will be up to address all the issues. In their defense there was Ian...but was hoping maybe there would be a tech closer than FL that could come fix everything. $50K Nissan Maxima's have way better fitment/alignment.
Having them not detail the car is THE WAY TO GO. The exterior was pretty much pristine after a professional bath. I'll provide an update once the tech comes out to fix everything.

At least your car was in better shape than the trailer... missing side wall....plywood showing... good it didnt rain :) Ill send those pics to lucid telling them if they intend to treat me like that ill pickup my car myself.

Well after inspection on Monday I’m here 2 weeks later still waiting on a tech to call to set up an appt to work on the car. Got a call this Wednesday where the rep told me they were ordering the trim replacements later that day and it would probably be a week before they arrived. Then she told me they would need to pick up the car and take it back to FL to make the repairs…I’m in NC. After a couple of phone calls to my rep they assured me Isaiah would be calling me to set up a time to come work on the car. Still waiting on that call. The detail shop has been extremely accommodating letting me leave the car at their facility as they can’t finish the PPF and voting until Lucid replaces the trim pieces. They’ve had the car since 9/26. I would tell anyone to think twice before purchasing one of these cars right now if you aren’t within driving distance of one of their facilities…otherwise I think you’re just SOL if something happens to the car and you can just let it set for what looks like is going to be over 3 weeks before I get to take it home.

Definitely a huge plus to be within a few miles of a service center. Been there a few times already and can get things done on the spot.

Any pics of all your discrepencies?

I had a similar experience. Delivered filthy. Every time I show someone the car, they point out to me a different trim problem. i now see that no two gaps in any body panels or doors are the same width apart. In addition, one mode panel (front left fender) moves and squeaks when touched. Lucid is supposedly sending someone to my house this week so I might know What the plan to fix is. I am holding in place one piece of exterior trim and two pieces of interior trim with Duct tape.

Sam, the Lucid rep that came out with the car to inspect has all the pics. The same issues that seem to be plaguing them right now, Inconsistent gaps, trim not attached securely etc. It appears QC has taken a back seat to getting volume out the door.

Wow, with the posts about dirty cars with home delivery, glad I had the option (and was practical) to pick up at the service center. Mine is probably as close to the ideal that Lucid is capable of producing right now. No loose trim, consistent panel gaps (except for the weird design of the clam shell trunk so that inconsistency is a design feature, not a flaw - but the trunk is properly aligned so one side doesn't stick out compared to the other) and the paint quality is excellent (very slight orange peel texture). Service center took care of a sliver of adhesive on the rear bumper and a small surface imperfection on the rear cantrail. Detail shop said everything looked great and no unusual paint thickness variations - they said they haven't had any problems on the Lucids they've done.

I really hope that my experience is more indicative of what most are experiencing with recent deliveries but not posting about rather than those of us unfortunate enough to get problematic assembly. As people have posted, it's much more likely we post about negative experiences than positive. I wasn't going to post about mine but I wanted people to know Lucid does produce cars you can take home from the delivery center with a smile, not a frown. I hope those of you waiting for yours have an experience like mine.

Tapping out.. I'm officially throwing in the towel and have listed my car for sale. Looks like it's going to be a month after delivery before I'm able to get anything done on this car. The knowledge that if anything goes wrong with my daily driver I'll probably be without a car for weeks is quite unsettling...especially a $185k car. I was mistakenly under the impression that Lucid had a fairly extensive fleet of service vehicles ready to come out and address most issues with the car...unfortunately for me I pulled the trigger and purchased the car only to find out nothing is further from the truth. I'm eating the $5K+ sales tax and jsut want to get out of the car the cost of it and the ceramic coating.

May have missed this, but have you tried to escalate as others have recommended in other threads?

Not sure where in NC you are, but I'm in CLT and had similar issues (dings, trim coming loose, NOT washed, wrong wheels, crack in windshield) w/ my car (that came up from Miami on 9/19 .. probably on the same trailer) .. I rejected the delivery and requested that it'd be sent to the VA SC (where my delivery specialist is located). I got it back 10 days later w/ all the issues addressed.
If you still have a choice, I'd request the car be sent to VA.

I’m really sorry about your experience, and it definitely isn’t the typical or standard experience, nor what any of us would/should expect.

Have you emailed Zak Edson to try and escalate?

Oh man, I am so sorry. I too live a huge distance from a service center but have fortunately had no fit and finish issues.
Do you think there is anyway the situation can be salvaged by escalating ? I just cannot imagine Lucid would not want to salvage the situation for you.

Yeah reach out to Zak Edson, they’d want to know that a customer is selling a new GTP due to unacceptable wait times to have trim repaired (wouldn’t that be lemon law if more tha . I was expressly told by their reps that while some further away service sites were being built, mobile service would be sent to deal with most issues that didn’t require big interventions, especially trim issues like you have. Unless I’m mistaken were there any other major complaints aside from the trim issues? Nothing you’ve listed sounds like a massive rebuild, more like just loose clips or adhesive failure? Also regarding panel gaps, Lucid tolerance is up to 1/2”, they told me this with the misalignment under my left rear cantrail as well as the rear right trunk gap, so I totally accept that what they delivered fit their PDI spec. Most trunk lids stick out just a tad on the right. Doesn’t look great but most of the time it’s within their allowance.

Wish I had known that...never occured to me I could reject delivery. Didn't really figure out all the issues until the car was off the trailer and got it in the detail shop to start looking at it. Really though a the time I was excited to get the car and no way I would have let it go back on the trailer it was delivered on.. Glad to hear you had such a good experience with Va center since that is where it's going to be fixed.

That seems just insane to me? Those kind of allowances on a $180k+ car?? I just hope people that haven't ordered yet get access to this information BEFORE plunking down that kind of money for a car.
