imo, DDP isn't even worth the $10k in its current iteration and perhaps, at the rate, will not be worth it for 3-4 years. Dream Drive Premium, on the other hand, for $2k is just adequately worth it

Neither cruel nor unnecessary; you can buy it earlier for a discount, or buy it later for a premium. That's quite standard practice across almost any industry. I literally *just* chose the 'pay later, for a bit more' option for a car rental, lol.

Yes but this way they are losing on potential sales. We already have the hardware and we know activating it cost them nothing. (they probably need the usage data)
Now, if we didn't already have the hardware it would have been a different story. We basically got the hardware for free, now they want to sell us a service for a price higher than the hardware + software

To me it goes without saying that any seller of anything has the right to raise prices unless there is an explicit promise (or law) otherwise.

I got the mail today too. for SSPro. I think I was told when I ordered the car in March it was $4000. The email says $4500 + tax if I want to keep it. July 5th is my end date as well. It does say I can purchase it at any time in the future thru the Lucid portal. I think I'll let it expire and see how much I miss it. I

a disclosure isn't necessarily only for legal reasons, a disclosure could be just as common courtesy

The Surround view and blind spot *cameras* are not standard on many cars. It's usually in their highest trim levels, if at all.

The blind spot *monitoring* which indicates using a light on the mirror is much more standard, and included without DD Pro.

I received notice that Lucid will deactivate my trial DreamDrive Pro on July 5 unless I want to send them $12,000. That's fine, since I don't use DreamDrive Pro. But I think it's a bit greedy to charge $2,500 for the surround view and blind spot view. These are safety features that are standard on many cars.

surround view and blind spot view is available on dream drive premium which is only $2k (Q3 release, and in a new car), I wonder if you can get that instead?

Even, using the Ioniq 5, the trim which has blind spot cameras and 360 view requires you to pay 5k more. You get some more stuff, but it's not like these things are "standard" on lower price cars.

If the email was worded differently like, subscribe at the initial rate now or pay a premium after it expires, they will make more sales. If they ever get DDP to be something I'd want, I hope they'll credit me the $2500 against whatever it will cost at that point.

Separately, since it said my trial expires July 5, strong suspicion that there will be a firmware update before then to support disabling these features.

What was your delivery date? Mine was March 31st. The fact that we're all getting a July 5th turnoff date makes me suspect you are correct, that there will be some update that turns off the Pro options unless they're purchased.

Well they split out some of the best features, surround view and blind spot cameras for much less than DDP. That makes sense, and if it was an option when I took delivery I might've considered getting that instead.

this is just absurd. That was not what my understanding was when I purchased. They wanted $ 9000 for FSD or Dream Drive pro. But since their AI is nowhere close to FSD I opted to get it when it was more mature. But this is ridiculous. Lane Maintenance and highway assist was explained to be a part
Of Dream Drive not Dream Drive Pro.
These are basic features.
All of features so far mentioned are to be of Dream Drive. Yes when you have FSD you can charge for it.
This is absolutely not fair and I will stop
Promoting Lucid. Lucid should change this policy asap if you want to retain your customers or grow.

Since we are discussing terminology on another thread, let me ask a question here since I just got the same email about the trial expiring. If we go from DDP to DD, we will lose HA, blind spot camera and 360 displays, is that correct?

And, we will still have Adaptive Cruise Control and Lane Departure Protection? That is rhetorical since that's what it says in the email I got. My point is this, in terms of Highway Assist, does that really just add Lane Centering and use it with ACC? Or am I missing something? Because the difference between Lane Centering and Lane Departure Protection isn't worth anywhere near $10k (or $8k if you take out the $2k for blind spot display and 360 view). Thoughts?

It's common in other auto makes to have to pay $2K-$4K for 360 cameras bundled with other limited ADAS features, and not even get blind spot video with that. I'm a little surprised reading that some expect it for free after the trial period.
