Collision. Bumper, left fender and AC compressor damage. Got $29k quote from Bed-red Auto in Bellevue.

My final bill was around $41k (fully paid by insurance) and the shop Bel-red Auto rebuild took 5 months and 7 days to get the repair done (the initial estimated time given by shop was 2-2.5 months). Out of the total time taken, Lucid took 4 weeks to deliver the parts (so probably 2 more weeks than estimated). There were a couple of misses by the shop where they ordered the wrong screws and forgot to order some bracket which holds the bumper. The shop tried to charge markups on tow bills (towed to Lucid service centre for sensor calibration) and $280/hr for frame and mechanical labor but AllState denied the markup and paid $130/hr for frame labor and $190/hr for mechanical labor. I think the cost of labor is quite high.

For $80k you can get a brand new Air Touring and it took $41k to replace a bumper, 2 frame rails and other minor damage for hitting a very small divider. Seems like we are entering an era of use and throw for cars as well just like smartphones. I say this because if you sum the number of labour hours (across everything), it is like 120 hours of total labour. So 15 days of labour costs around $20k.

The rough breakup of cost is attached as to this post. One small advice is to change your policy to get at least 60-90 days of rental coverage. I only had 30 days of rental covered. I got lucky that I had a lot of travel in between and live in a city so don't need to drive a lot.
My PURE policy has standard 150 days of rental coverage with 15K for the rental car.

can you see all this damage?

Car is/was mechanically 100% No warning lights. Everything worked. I drove it for a week or so before driving it to the body shop. AC and LIDAR work, lights work, funk opens and closes... you could barely see the cosmetic damage.

So, seven months and counting. .. somehow they managed to brick the car. I hear they are waiting for a new wiring harness ????? WTF?

I did not get a rental, figuring it would be two months or so to get / install a new bumper cover and hood. HA.
Insurance is about $500 / month too, for a car I haven't even seen, and seven months of free charging at EA ... so I'm out of pocket a few thousand ... and living with one car between the two of us... it has caused some stress. What would it cost to rent a car for going on seven months? Had I known I would have bought a cheap car -- less costly than renting one / paying insurance on a Lucid I don't have.

I knew the Lucid is an exotic, and expected any minor repair would be very expensive and take months ... but this is way more than I expected.

I'm old, and I have very little time left to drive a nice car. Nobody counts the cost of their time... as you age, your remaining time becomes precious.
