After charging my car for most of the day (was at 38% when I started charging), when I got in, it through an orange exclamation triangle alert and a Drive System Warning. Called Customer Care and they tried to reboot the car 3x with no success. They connected me with the KoP Service team and they're perplexed as well. Car drives fine for now. I've only had it less than 2 months.

Anyone ever not been able to reboot their car?

If you are trying to reboot to get rid of the error message, it might be a real issue that will not be solved in that manner. Surprised KoP didn't advise you to bring it in.

Finally got my car back yesterday. It was an interesting experience and one I would like to believe is related to the relatively young company that is attempting to do great things. My car threw a Drive System Warning on 7/11. Car had to be towed. Car wasn't able to be "serviced" until 7/17 due to the number of cars being serviced at KoP. I've included the results of the diagnostics. Seems the wire harness had wires that were pinched and then damaged. Question I have is: is this similar to the issue that the Pures were dealing with? Also, would this type of issue be discovered going through the delivery inspection? Just odd it took 1.5 months for this issue (considering the impact it had on other systems as noted in the report) to come to a head.

Would love to know others' thoughts.

Doubtful that a delivery inspection would catch this as I don't think it scales to tear the car down to the point where they're inspecting wire harnesses (unless there is a known defect).

I am encouraged to see the level of detail that is included in the report, and the amount of knowledge/skill that was brought to the party to determine the underlying cause. The fact that they checked the wiring diagram to see what all the fault codes have in common was the key that lead them to the root cause.

I'm not sure if this is the sort of attention to detail you find at all dealerships, but whatever the case....I'm impressed.

It's a fair question to find out WHY the harness was pinched and whether this is a QA issue with cars coming off the line. If it's not a widespread issue, then how did it come to pass that it was an issue for your vehicle? Other than that, I'd be very pleased with the outcome.

Given the quirks and issues in the assembly process which results in cars coming off the line with less than perfect setups (presumably), then you can only hope that when an issue DOES come up, it gets resolved properly. Over time, the gremlins in your specific vehicle approach zero, and you end up with the perfect car. I've had enough stuff replaced/fixed in my car that it's starting to feel as though I'm reaching that point (ie, if there were harness issues, they would've manifested by now).

Agree that this level of detail is unique. Well, at least unique to my history of car ownership (and I've run the gamut: Audi, BMW, Lexus, Land Rover, Mazda, Tesla, etc.) What I'm more surprised at is all the other "errors" that the diagnostic showed that didn't impact the operation of the car. Perhaps this is a good thing? Definitely happy to have my car back; the Toyota Rav4 loaner was getting old fast. (KoP didn't have any loaners.) Having to hammer the accelerator to drop a few gears just to get the car moving was not something I missed!

No, this sounds like an assembly issue where part of the wiring harness got pinched during assembly. Unlikely PDI would’ve caught this, and first I’ve seen of it.

Like what?

Unless I'm misreading the report, all the missing communications errors noted. Also, is testing the car's ability to reboot part of the PDI?
“Found all DTCs relevant to BCM LIN1 system” so they were all related to the same issue. You wouldn’t see each individual message, just “drive system warning” because the car correctly ascertained *something* was wrong with the LIN bus (or similar).

I have no idea if they reboot the car as part of PDI, but I’d be surprised if that wasn’t the case.

With a pinched wire harness, issues may also be intermittent as it may short or not short depending on bumps and whatnot too.

Thanks, Borski. Learn something new every day.

I also had a pinched wire harness when I first got my Air. It was related to the brake booster and completely rendered the car immovable. Since then no significant issues.
