Doubtful that a delivery inspection would catch this as I don't think it scales to tear the car down to the point where they're inspecting wire harnesses (unless there is a known defect).
I am encouraged to see the level of detail that is included in the report, and the amount of knowledge/skill that was brought to the party to determine the underlying cause. The fact that they checked the wiring diagram to see what all the fault codes have in common was the key that lead them to the root cause.
I'm not sure if this is the sort of attention to detail you find at all dealerships, but whatever the case....I'm impressed.
It's a fair question to find out WHY the harness was pinched and whether this is a QA issue with cars coming off the line. If it's not a widespread issue, then how did it come to pass that it was an issue for your vehicle? Other than that, I'd be very pleased with the outcome.
Given the quirks and issues in the assembly process which results in cars coming off the line with less than perfect setups (presumably), then you can only hope that when an issue DOES come up, it gets resolved properly. Over time, the gremlins in your specific vehicle approach zero, and you end up with the perfect car. I've had enough stuff replaced/fixed in my car that it's starting to feel as though I'm reaching that point (ie, if there were harness issues, they would've manifested by now).
