Best Damn Car AND Best Damn Car Buying Experience. Ever.

Congratulation @Blue Lectroid . How is your Lucid doing after taking the delivery? Any news insights or observations now that you have had the vehicle for a few days?
I only have 200 miles on it as I had the whole car clear wrapped (I live on a farm on a dirt road). But thus far I find it absolutely wonderful. The A-pillars took a few miles to get used to as they are larger than on my previous car (Tesla M3P). But literally after the first drive I no longer noticed that.

The ride quality is just so damn impressive. Having a nearly 6000 pound car feel this agile blows me away.

BTW, biggest surprise? The whole entry / key fob thing I was expecting to deal with (based on this Forum) has been a complete no-show. The car has responded to me approaching it consistently (and correctly) every single time thus far. I have used the phone key and leave the fob’s inside in Farraday (sp?) cases.

I still have not even listened to the sound system…there’s so much to learn about the car that I haven’t waned to be distracted.

Oh, one other thing…I am either the world’s MOST inattentive driver, or perhaps Lucid has the distracted driver alert setting a tad too conservatively. I turned that setting off today as any time I so much as glanced at the pilot panel the car yelled at me. LOL. Of course my wife would probably agree with the car and not my assessment that it should be set to be a little less sensitive!

Many of us have turned that one off.

I did clunk my head yesterday in that my wife approached the car first so it must have taken her profile and adjusted the seat to her height (confirmed that even though I was sitting in the drivers seat it still showed her profile). Need to see if it there is some setting that I missed

Look in the middle of the cockpit display. It will show which profile is active. If it is the wrong one, hit the picture. It will show all the profiles that are set up and you can choose the correct one. If you have more than one profile, it is kind of random which it chooses. If I'm going someplace with my hubby and letting him drive, I try to stay back and let him approach the car first. Even with that, it sometimes chooses my profile.

She definitely approached the car first and went to the drivers side first. I know because I was like no way you are driving. It is too fun! 😀

I have the distracted driver turned on but it only works well if you have set up your facial profile. If you wear polarized sunglasses, set up two facial profiles; one with and one without.

It will work a lot better after that.

Unfortunately, the car does not distinguish which side you are approaching from. It's pretty much whomever's phone/fob is detected first. Since my wife rarely drives the car, I turned the mobile key off on her phone. She just uses the fob that we normally keep far enough from the car that it doesn't trigger it.

I did set that up -- they did it with me when I picked up the car. I think I am just overly distracted! LOL.

I am thrilled to hear about your buying experience. This looks like a red carpet buying experience.

I came from a 2018 Tesla Model 3. I was nervous I was going to regret moving to Lucid. So far I have zero regrets.

I have a 2022 AGT Performance. The build quality is top notch. My DDPro and Sureal Sound Peo are being engaged this week as Lucid just picked up my car today to fix a stuck door handle and mirror that would not always fold out properly.

This car is FAST, and so comfortable!

I am ALL IN on Lucid and also now a fanboy! :)

I do miss the Tesla lane asssit features. However, without not yet trying DDP I cannot say if I am or am not missing anything. I do know that the Lucid has far more sensors that the Model 3. This provides ample opportunity for continued refinement.

For the infotainment system, I just bought one of these.

I’ll let everyone know how it works. This way my kids can watch TV when Dad is driving. ;)
I want to learn how kyebriq is installed and used. It will be great for road trips. Can you share pictures and your experience.
Welcome to the Lucid family
Thanks

Keep in mind, anyone waiting with bated breath for "Hand's Free" HA: You'll need to have distracted driver turned on for that to work. If the camera can't see your eyes, it's going to make you jiggle the wheel.

If your steering wheel position is such that the camera is covered, get ready to move that if you want Hands Free. That's the trade off you'll have to make.

Just pre-warning people so we can avoid that 9-page rant later.

Correct, let's get the rant going now.

A 9 page rant will still be coming 🤣

I hate to always come back to other OEMs, but Tesla and Rivian have solved this problem in such a simple but elegant way. In the case that two user profiles show up to the car at the same time, the car will default to the last driver. This works great because most people drive their own car most of the time, and if we both go somewhere together, it will never pick the wrong profile if i'm in the vicinity. If I happen to need to take her car, it correctly picks my profile. 99% of the time it makes the right choice.

The Lucid is always 50/50 which one it decides to pick (and since it's our primary family car) I ended up having to turn off her mobile key for the same reason. She was not happy about that lol. Just another bug fix I hope Lucid will implement at some point

Yes, it is too much fun to just go fast! I did an analysis recently and this is the result. DRIVE FAST!!

My Air Touring has 20,000 miles. I have owned it for 16 months. My actual lifetime efficiency is 3.7 mi/kWh. So at $0.16 per KW with home charging, it has cost me about $55 per month for energy. Now, realistically, I have used over 2,000 kWs from free EA charging, but I will ignore that for now.

If I chose to drive fast all the time, it would have cost me an additional $7.00 a month. The difference between driving super efficient to fast is only about $12.00 per month over 20,000 miles. So everyone, please just drive FAST!!

a Gas car with 28 mpg would cost about $120 more per month in energy costs.

With a sport sedan you get less than 20mpg...so gas costs will be much higher than what you mentioned.

Not really a bug… It is working as designed… More of a missing feature.

As I have written about in other threads, I am the proud new owner of a new 2025 Air GT.

I must say that I approached this purchase with some anxiety almost entirely based on reading posts in this Forum as there are so many threads about a gazillion different issues with Lucid Airs and the buying process. I moved forward because I had the good fortune to speak with several people (one of them a close friend of my family) who own and drive them and absolutely RAVE about the car and the Company.

To cut to the chase, is this was the finest car purchasing experience I have ever had, I am already madly in love with my new car AND I have not experienced any issues with build quality, key FOBs, Phone Key, software or range (I am alluding to some of the most common gripes about the car). This car is built to incredibly high quality standards, the UI is beautiful , fast and intuitive and the car is an incredible drive.

Every aspect of my purchase was handled with kindness, efficiency and thoroughness by Alexxa (Short Hills Studio), Jacques (Lucid Inside Sales) and Robert (KOP Delivery Associate). The Leasing paperwork was straightforward, well explained and fair and the deal I got (thanks to current Lucid incentives and lease rates) WAS FANTASTIC.

If you are reading this and have read (like I had) threads here that scared you half to death, all I can say is that my personal experience could not have gone any better. I have owned BMW's, Audi's, Ferrari's, Honda's, Subaru's, Toyota's, Hyundai's and, yes, Tesla's. NONE of those cars were built as well or drove as well AND buying every one of them was far more painful an experience than working with Lucid.

I honestly doubt that I am simply lucky and that my experience was unique. I think we all need to remember that people are probably 10 times more likely to complain about something than they are to take the time out to write something positive, so, sadly, the online world becomes a wellspring of griping and negativity. Fortunately there are many on this Forum who provide a positive counter-balance to that kind of thing!

I took delivery yesterday in KOP. It was a cold day (35 degrees). My drive home was a combination of highway at 70-75mph and rural / city. Heat was set at 70. I averaged 3.70 m/kWh. This leads me to believe that I will have no trouble getting EPA rated efficiency in warmer weather, when the tires (and rest of the car is more worn in) and when / if I stop reveling in just how hard you can drive these cars!

BRAVO LUCID!!! The car I am coming out of is a 2018 Tesla Model 3 Performance and every aspect of my purchase experience was so far superior to buying my Tesla that it is not even fair to compare. The website was better AND there were helpful humans to call who were personable and knowledgeable. And then, of course, there is the product. Night and day in terms of fit and finish, build quality and driving experience. Oh, and I know I will likely get flamed for this, but I find the current iteration of Lucid's UI to be far superior to that of Tesla -- I love it and I have not even completely learned it yet. It is classy looking, fast, intuitive and even "elegant." I cannot say anything other than "it works" about the Telsa UI.

So my dear Lucid Air Fence Sitting Friends...if I were you I'd jump in with both feet and take advantage of the incredible deals available now and get yourself into The Best Damn Car so you can Compromise Nothing.

Yeah, I've become a FanBoy. It has been well earned by the Lucid Team! Alexxa, Jacques and Robert, if you ever read this, THANK YOU!!! YOU WERE ALL AMAZING!!!View attachment 25255View attachment 25256View attachment 25257View attachment 25258View attachment 25259View attachment 25260View attachment 25261
I agree 100%, especially on the car buying experience My wife’s dream car was the Porsche Cayenne, that is until we visited a dealership shortly after we took delivery of our Air GT. On a scale from 1 to 10, I’d rate most of my car purchase experiences with dealerships between 1 and 5. The Porsche dealership we actually went to will probably score a 4 or 5, but Lucid is definitely a 10 (shout out to Andy P. from OC). As their tagline states, no compromises…not only did we get the best buying experience similar to yours, we did not need to compromise either on vehicle quality and excellence!
