I must say that I approached this purchase with some anxiety almost entirely based on reading posts in this Forum as there are so many threads about a gazillion different issues with Lucid Airs and the buying process. I moved forward because I had the good fortune to speak with several people (one of them a close friend of my family) who own and drive them and absolutely RAVE about the car and the Company.
To cut to the chase, is this was the finest car purchasing experience I have ever had, I am already madly in love with my new car AND I have not experienced any issues with build quality, key FOBs, Phone Key, software or range (I am alluding to some of the most common gripes about the car). This car is built to incredibly high quality standards, the UI is beautiful , fast and intuitive and the car is an incredible drive.
Every aspect of my purchase was handled with kindness, efficiency and thoroughness by Alexxa (Short Hills Studio), Jacques (Lucid Inside Sales) and Robert (KOP Delivery Associate). The Leasing paperwork was straightforward, well explained and fair and the deal I got (thanks to current Lucid incentives and lease rates) WAS FANTASTIC.
If you are reading this and have read (like I had) threads here that scared you half to death, all I can say is that my personal experience could not have gone any better. I have owned BMW's, Audi's, Ferrari's, Honda's, Subaru's, Toyota's, Hyundai's and, yes, Tesla's. NONE of those cars were built as well or drove as well AND buying every one of them was far more painful an experience than working with Lucid.
I honestly doubt that I am simply lucky and that my experience was unique. I think we all need to remember that people are probably 10 times more likely to complain about something than they are to take the time out to write something positive, so, sadly, the online world becomes a wellspring of griping and negativity. Fortunately there are many on this Forum who provide a positive counter-balance to that kind of thing!
I took delivery yesterday in KOP. It was a cold day (35 degrees). My drive home was a combination of highway at 70-75mph and rural / city. Heat was set at 70. I averaged 3.70 m/kWh. This leads me to believe that I will have no trouble getting EPA rated efficiency in warmer weather, when the tires (and rest of the car is more worn in) and when / if I stop reveling in just how hard you can drive these cars!
BRAVO LUCID!!! The car I am coming out of is a 2018 Tesla Model 3 Performance and every aspect of my purchase experience was so far superior to buying my Tesla that it is not even fair to compare. The website was better AND there were helpful humans to call who were personable and knowledgeable. And then, of course, there is the product. Night and day in terms of fit and finish, build quality and driving experience. Oh, and I know I will likely get flamed for this, but I find the current iteration of Lucid's UI to be far superior to that of Tesla -- I love it and I have not even completely learned it yet. It is classy looking, fast, intuitive and even "elegant." I cannot say anything other than "it works" about the Telsa UI.
So my dear Lucid Air Fence Sitting Friends...if I were you I'd jump in with both feet and take advantage of the incredible deals available now and get yourself into The Best Damn Car so you can Compromise Nothing.
