Lucid Air Pure 2024
Hey guys,

The back of my screen gets extremely hot, like hot enough to grill a beef. Does this happen to your cars as well? Thank you.

Well, there is one recent thread about it here:

Agreed- super hot, and I’m wondering at what point will it either crack or fail

i noticed the same. Posted my reply here to avoid double posting the same stuff.

Agree- Bought my Air Pure 9-10-24. Touching other surfaces in the area like dash, back of steering wheel etc I've concluded (?) it's the electronics not the solar thermal effect.
Thoughts?
And is that "ok'?

Yes.

Each Lucid should come with a jar of thermal paste and a half-dozen of those colored cooling fans with flashing lights.

... anyone working on a heat sink for it ? Or maybe it's a feature! We can make pinnanis back there ... heck, put a microwave and espresso maker in that space behind the pilot panel ! We need a cutting board fold-out from the console....oh heck.... don't get me started.

... guess I'll start driving with the pilot panel stowed.

I just took delivery of my 2025 Lucid Air several days ago and concluded a 100 mile RT drive today with outside ambient air temps around 64 degrees. I noticed heat radiating from the driver display that was literally making it impossible to achieve a comfortable cabin temp for me to drive the vehicle. I turned the A/C down to the low 60 degree range which in my other cars would almost allow me to freeze a can of sparkling water, and it was only marginally cool. As soon as I got home, I got my insta-read thermometer out and was recording temps over 90 degrees just above the display. No wonder I couldn't stay cool.

Something isn't right here! I live in an area that sees summer temps run in the 80s and into the 90s frequently, and we often have many days that cross 100 degrees. I can't imagine what will happen with the climate control then.

Has anyone else had a similar experience with the climate control not being able to adequately cool the car, and in particular the driver's area due to the heat radiating from the display unit? Has anyone reported it to Lucid? Their response?

I haven’t had that experience. At 59 I freeze, I barely keep on my AC.

Thanks for shaing! I'm feeling a bit like an idiot for a very tech saavy guy, but the climate control ergonomics leave a little bit to be desired. I determined that I didn't have the AC turned on. I assumed that I merely needed to set the temp to the desired level and the sytem would determine if heat or AC was required. That's the way it's worked on my other recent cars. Anyway... I'm breathing a sigh of relief that my climate control module isn't malfunctioning!

Wouldn't hurt to dial your local service center and discuss it with them. I've no complaints about the hvac in my '25 AT.

That being said I think I'll be investing in an infrared coating on the windshield to try and mitigate the sun. I've done this on other cars and it can really make a difference.

I've now figured out the issue with the AC. I didn't realize that I needed to go into the center screen and separately turn it on. Yep... I'll keep an eye on the display heat issue. It'll likely be better now that I have the climate control working.

Mine hasn't gotten hot enough to affect the AC's ability to cool the cabin, but I am a bit concerned about how hot the back of the driver screen gets after the car has been parked for even 30-45 minutes when it's only 70-80F.

What's it going to do when it's parked in the sun for hours this summer and it's 100+F?

Don’t worry about the AC, it will keep things cool no matter what. I live in Saudi Arabia, where temperatures can reach 113-130°F, and my Lucid AC is pretty reliable.

That being said you will soon find that the A/C simply isn't good enough in the summer especially if you have the glass roof. If you forget to turn it on in advance if it's been sitting in the sun for hours you will be uncomfortable for 10-15 minutes until it catches up. By August I want a new car...

That is definitely a concern of mine, as well. I live in an area in CA where summer days are normally in the 80 degree range and can often creep up into the 90s. We also have several days a year that get over 100F. I know that Lucid switched to OLED instrument displays in the new Gravity, perhaps due to this issue.

I've got the aluminum roof, so I'm hoping that isn't the case. The fact that we are even discussing it reflects and obvious design oversight. I'm on a 3 year lease, so getting rid of the car if the climate control is a real problem this summer isn't an option. Hopefully, Lucid will address this issue.

Purchase the glass roof screens from Lucid. It made a dramatic difference in Scottsdale,Az.

I have the glass roof and live in CA where it gets 100+ many days of the summer and have never been uncomfortable. In fact, this car cools down much faster than any of my others and only takes a few minutes. Pre cooling the car is something I usually forget to do, but climate keep while running errands is amazing :) The fan speed being a 1-10 took a minute to get used to when I first got the car, as a 3 level was enough in other cars that are 1-5.
