Arizona

Thanks for the reply Maverick, I noticed someone had the AV plate with AIR GT on it so was wondering if I could get those still. If not I need to pick one that goes well with Quantum gray.
Thats my plate and yes you can still get vanity plates for alternate fuels

It is very short notice but @Pwmac and I are going to drive our black and white AGTs out to Tortilla Flat tomorrow morning (Saturday). We are planning to meet up at Flatiron Community park at 8:30 AM and drive from there to Tortilla Flat. The resturant opens at 10:00 for a late breakfast or early lunch. Anyone is welcome to join us for any part of the drive.

Good time today @Adnillien! I think that road had too many turns for my wife 🤮 but I would definitely take that drive again. The white looks awesome!

One more picture and a summary of efficiency with AC cranked, air temp in the 80's, half freeway driving, half in the winding slow hills around Canyon Lake. 109.9 miles at 3.5 mi/kWhr.

Here's a pic of my efficiency but only had 83 miles and 3.1 mi/kWhr. I'm still under 500 miles and this is the best efficiency I have noticed but also just got that most recent update the other day.

Has anyone custom installed a radar detector in their Air? I want to hard wire a Uniden R7. Know any shops that have done this on Lucids?

I took the leap and upgraded pure to touring. Can’t wait to join you all with my car :)
Q 2023 ?? They also honored legacy price so love it

Follow up on my radar detector question. I spoke with Signature Audio and was told that they have done two Lucids Escort Max CI 360. Cost $6,300.
Expensive... That would cover several tickets, bail money, and an attorney.

My custom installed Stinger system (which you can find elsewhere on the forum) was about $10k, but it looks like it is *stock* which is what I was going for. The peace of mind is wonderful.

Was told today that as of Jan 01, 2023, EVs will not be issued HOV license plates. Is this true?
Doesn't surprise me if it is true. Originally, Arizona gave the HOV plates to almost all hybrids. tons of Priuses (I have had two). Then they cut it back to only PHEVs and not regular hybrids. Then they declared that no new PHEVs would qualify.

Arizona has also been increasing the registration fees to account for the fact that BEVs don't use gasoline so they aren't supporting the roads on which thye travel.

Were we talking about doing another meetup this month?

That is correct, the state has announced that alternate fuel vehicles (to include EVs) will still get the AFV plate with HOV lane access. Although, as mentioned, they are increasing the tax rate for AFVs. The registration fee is based on the $2.80 per $100 of the assessed value of the vehicle. For conventional vehicles, that is 60% of the purchase price. For EVs this year, it is 20% of the purchase price (used to be 1%). For 2023, all vehicles will be the same basis, but if you bought prior to 2023, you keep the old valuation system.

If you want a personalized plate, I would suggest that you wait until you get the AFV plate, then change to a personalized AFV plate. I have a friend that ordered a personalized plate for an EV a while ago. He got the personalized plate, but it was a conventional plate. Ended up being a lengthy process to get it converted to an AFV plate. It's super easy to change once the vehicle is registered. You can just do that online.

Just chiming in for the September 24th meet up and the same waffle place. Should be nicer weather then I hope. Save the date :) more announcements to come as we get closer! Can’t wait to see you all again!

Hey Arizona owners, there has been some talk about the AC system not cooling enough in another thread. Now that you have gone through a Summer, how did the car do? I would be interested to also know how the “run into the store” feature (don’t know the specific name, sorry) that leaves the AC running for 45 mins did if you used it? It’s one of the selling points I have used to convince the wife.

Except for the couple days it took me to figure out the defrost software bug, my AC has worked very well. I'm even able to get the air to hit my face somewhat - I'm 5'11". I have my side and back windows tinted. This does make a difference. I do not have the windshield or roof tinted. I do not have a problem with glare or heat from the roof.

Overall, it works perfectly fine except for taking a little longer to cool down when sitting in the sun due to the glass roof. The 45 minute keep cool feature works very well too when I remember to turn it on. Turn on the ac from the app works ok but if the interior is 135F, it's not going to get it down to the 70s or 80s until you start driving it.

Hope that helps.

Having problems with getting a radar detector installed. Went to a top line place. This is there response: Would appreciate if any other people on this forum had a radar detector installed, how they did it and is it effective. Thanks.

Hi Jerry, good to hear from you — apologies for the delay.

We wanted to hold off on the radar due to some information that was given to me from a trusted source, the technical director for Escort Radar. He had mentioned a few dealers having issues with radar false alerts on the Lucid platforms do to radar/lidar based sensors on the vehicle. I wanted to get a solid confirmation on this to determine what our opportunities and potential issues could be. I'll circle back around with him today on that and if he gives us the all clear we will circle back around to schedule.

Let me know if you have any questions in the meantime!

Below is his 2nd response to me later today.

Jerry, I had a brief chat with our trusted friend and he's still not recommending an installed radar for the Lucid Air at this time. His concerns included some failures in the car due the the added electronics on the 12v system and a battle with the service shop at LUCID regarding the associated warranty. Doesn't sound like something we want to get involved with until there's a more solid answer from reliable resources.

Sorry I don't have better news. Let me know if you have questions.

Best,
Nick

I’ve had a Stinger system installed from the first couple weeks I got the car in January and have had zero issues. Pics are elsewhere on this forum, and happy to share the name of the shop.

Elsewhere in the forum there are pics of a Radenso install in Florida also.

I guess my installer did not want to do it. He is presently backed up 4 months for appointments, so no incentive.
