Android Auto Thursday

So rather than answering that AA is coming in software release 2.6 next month, you answered in a way that made him look at another brand?
... Good thing he didn't lie to his friend

Fair dig! Very surprised that AA is not in 2.6, that said, I still believe it is imminent (relatively speaking). Perhaps one of the reasons 2.6 took so long was that they were hoping AA would be part of it, but had to change things based on Google? 2.6.1?

AA soon I think. I think the 2.6.0 update installed the software for AA since my phone (Pixel 8 Pro) is not prompting me to select AA on my car. I can only assume once the latest AA update comes out of beta (assuming no defects), we should see the roll-out of a 2.6.x update that enables it.

One correction to my post above. AA13.5 is on stable channel which means it's public. It does seem like 2.6.0 has something for AA built in since my phone is prompting me. I think it's up to Lucid to enable it.

Did you plug your phone in and see that prompt?

Wireless AA. Happened after I turned on the car each time (three times today) after the 2.6.0 update
Sounds like a bug if it doesn't connect. Does it interfere with carplay? Can you shut it off?

Lucid still doesn't have AA available. I do not have CarPlay since I have a Pixel device. The phone prompts to connect to AA but the car does not. It's not a bug (at least not yet).

Do you have carlinkit? Curious if that might interfere

No I do not.
Thanks. Hopefully I'll know soon enough and hopefully it doesn't (would be frustrating if this update interfered with our AA work around)

Same behavior with my car/phone. Pixel 9 fold. Started after the latest software update. Just a matter of time before it's pushed live by Lucid I suspect.

Interestingly, I just installed the update and I have an S23. No prompt on my phone for me to select AA. That might be a difference between Samsung and Pixel phones. However, there's now a carplay icon on the right side of the cockpit panel that I don't remember seeing before 🤔

Could be that the S23 doesn't have a necessary AA component updated yet (or maybe a manual system update would apply it). I have the Jan update on the Pixel and I know there is a lag for non-Pixel phones. I also saw the Apple Car Link icon and I thought I was going crazy. "Was that always there???" Glad to know I'm not the only one who saw it and thought the same

I have an S24+ and I doubt that's the problem. If there were a component that affected AA in general, the user base is too big for it to be missing if it affected things to the point that a phone would not be recognized.

It's more likely the other way around. I'd speculate that Lucid put AA in the car, decided to disable it, tested it with a Samsung to confirm that it was disabled and by not testing with every brand out there, they missed the issue with the Pixel. If they had tested with a Pixel, they wouldn't have the phone or car thinking that the car has AA.

Hard to believe that's a scenario- "hey green-text Tony, lemme see your phone for a second," "yo anyone got one of those Google pixie phones?"

I have the S23 Ultra. I now see an Apple CarPlay icon on right side of the main cockpit display. It doesn't do anything at this point, but it's probably there for future improvements.

I see it too.
