ALL TEXAS OWNERS (or future owners) please post on this thread

Texas owners, did you need to do anything to get your Texas plates? We took delivery in July but still have not gotten any plates. I was under the impression Lucid was handling all that and the TX registration would show up in the mail with the plates.

Within 1-2 days of delivery I got a fedex envelope with all the documentation to sign (get notarized in 2 cases) and return via fedex to Lucid. Then they handle registration, etc. If you never got that paperwork, that's a problem. Contact CS and/or your DA.

It will take awhile. I got mine in GT in mid April, then plate arrived like in mid July.

We took delivery Aug 16, plates received this past Friday. Give them a call.
Thanks everyone, just wasn't sure if I was missing something. My wife says I don't listen very well. HA!!!

My wife said the same thing all the time too. 😂

My wife said the same thing to me up until a couple of months before Covid hit. One day we were in Sam's Club and they have a Hearing Aid Department which was offering free hearing tests. She wants me to get a hearing test. I figure I'm in trouble. If I don't hear well, then I get a hearing aid. If I hear well, that's worse....I get accused of simply not listening to her. So I take the test, my hearing is fine.

I tell her she should get one as well since they are free, and we would have a baseline for a future test (we were in our mid-late 60s then so the expectation is in the near future we lose some hearing). She gets in the booth, takes the test, comes out of the booth with a big smile on her face, and says she aced the test. Audiologist says her results show hearing deficits with certain sounds and words. Audioologist gives us a complete report regarding the hearing deficit. My wife is stunned. She refuses to try a hearing aid and as we get in the car she says something like..."We are going to a real doctor because this test was false."

Next week or so we got to the Top Doc in our area. He does the test....shockingly...the results were identical to Sam's Club testing. I mean identical! [kudos to Sam's Club! Also, I now have faith in low hearing testing variability]. Top Doc convinces her to try a hearing aid sample in the office and she is shocked by how much she can hear. She still refuses to get one because she is too good looking to wear a hearing aid. So Top Doc sits with her and gives her tips on how to hear better...face people to read lips, in a room have your back to a wall, etc.

Been almost three years now and her hearing is noticeably worse, but she still refuse to wear a hearing aid. Worse yet, I still get accused of not listening to her.

I had a similar issue with our Navigator, where the plates didn't show up for several months. The Lincoln dealer ended up just getting us new paper plates until the actual plates arrived. Agreed you should just call CS or your DA.

For people who live in Austin did you guys have to pay extra to get your car delivered to you instead of driving over to Houston? Also, does the service center have vehicles in there that you can check out, or is it simply for service?

No extra charge for home delivery.

To add to that, I've heard they will buy you a plane ticket and pick you up from the airport. Ask and see what they say.

Regarding the second part of your question, back in July, the showroom part of the delivery center was still under a bit of construction. But, the delivery room was packed with cars.

Looks like I'll gate my Car delivery either 10/6 tomorrow or 10/7 Friday. I got a long list from this forum to check before delivery. Any other recommendation before taking delivery from Houston Location.

Decided to do PPF and Ceramic Coating, tinting from Gulf Coast near my Home Sugar Land (10 miles) due to reasonable pricing and thanks to @MoniputerLM for advising and also for the referral.

Excited to join the TX Lucid Group. currently based in McKinney. Put my initial reservation in on 092121 and converted it to an order for a Black Tahoe Stealth, 20", Glass, DDP, SSP, in August. That Stealth option is going to push me further back in the queue...

Picked up Thursday, drove back Friday, Lucid actually paid for my flight down, great experience. I did have them adjust the trim panel on the charging port door, one corner of it was sticking up a little. I also went back Friday before leaving Houston due to the surround view cameras never loading, they did a recalibration and it was good to go in about 30 minutes. I'll be leaving it with Brian at DetailWerks on Tuesday for PPF/ceramic/tint. I also think I'm going to have him completely remove the front sun visors if possible.
Suggest you check on the safety requirements for having sun visors on the front windshield before having them removed... Not sure if an after market side mount option is available (or would work).

Let us know how the PPF/ceramic/tint goes at DetailWerks. I'll most likely be making the same decision next year...

... Air Touring

When I took Delivery from Houston Service Center on 10/06 I met another Gentlemen (Not providing his real name) from Inner loop of 610 Houston Downtown who also picked up Air GT Grey with Tahoe and 21inch wheel. I asked to join this forum to keep sharing experience and question and comments. Not sure whether he joined this forum or not.

I didn't see any Texas requirements re: visors. My understanding was they are a Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard thing. I should have the car back this Wednesday (PPF got held up in customs, and I was on vacation), will post pics.

Had the Air GT delivered to Austin, and no there wasn't an extra charge. The delivery process was the one thing that was a bit sketchy, though my partner was the one who talked to Lucid about the details so I'm not sure it there was just some confusion about how it would be delivered.

The truck it was delivered on couldn't go down our neighborhood streets, so we met the truck in the back of the Walmart on Northcross. That would have been fine during the day, but the truck driver didn't get there until after 8 when it was already dark. So we picked up the car in the dark in a Walmart loading dock - and we had never driven it before, so there were some basic things that we just had to Google (perhaps I'm just showing my lack of intelligence, but honestly I couldn't figure out where the button on the key fob was after about 5 tries).

In any case, it turned out fine, and our delivery specialist (I think Reka? was her name) flew out to Austin to meet with us the next day. She was great, answered all of our questions, level of service was just A+. And, also, the car is amazing :)

For the number of folks that have commented on getting PPF and ceramic applied to their Lucid, could you share how much it cost? Never had that done on one of my cars before, but after doing some research it seems like it's worth it - I love the look of our Lucid and would like to keep it looking good.

Also, if anyone can recommend car detailing places in Austin please let me know. Got some good candidates just looking at Google reviews, but curious if anyone can share good experiences (and not necessarily with their Lucid).

Thanks!
