Air Version 2.9.0

Got the 2.9.0 update last night in my 2023 AGT (Netherlands). Plugged it in to charge, scheduled the install during the night, installed without any issue. I’ll give it a drive later to see if there are any issues to report

There’s a whole thread about it, they refused to warranty a guys TCU because the software wasn’t updated within 30 days. They’ve done it to a few people.
It’s gotta be someplace in the warranty. I’ll give it a thorough read over. If it isn’t written by someone who had the authority to write it, it isn’t true.

Edit. OK. I read the warranty. That’s true. Page 9 - 10 of the warranty:

“What Will Cause the Warranty to Be Voided?

“The Lucid New Vehicle Limited Warranty will be voided, and no warranty coverage will be provided in the following situations:

(Second point)

“Failing to install required software updates within 30 days after notification that an

update is available.”

I’ll be damned.

Thanks for finding that, I looked but missef that section.
The question I have is how can Lucid prove that I've been notified that an update is available?

Learn something new every day... you would think that if that's the case the software would auto install on day 29... but that would take competent programmers which clearly they are still in search for. I've been patient with this car but at this point, there is just no excuse for the software BS that's going on. I really felt in January like they had 6 months or so to stabilize it, and we are at that point, and they have not.

I wonder what happens warranty-wise when Air UX 3.0 comes out, and you go over the 30 days because you are waiting for the hoardes of people in the queue to have the requesite CCCv2 installed. Interestingly, many of whom will be among their most loyal Lucid referrers, who have been duped into waiting for the announced CCCv2 to arrive on the Referral Store, and then postponed indefinitely. Sometimes, I wonder if they lie awake at night coming up with such nonsense!

Hey, Lucid! If you don't intend to ever make it available, please just tell us now. Don't worry about doing it. We are used to being disappointed.

If you don't install CCCv2 there will be no update for your car. This is the problem (or benefit?) of requiring CCCv2 to install UX 3.0. After UX 3.0 is released either Lucid needs to develop two software releases for every OTA update (one for UX 2 and one for UX 3) or skip updating cars with UX2.

It would make sense for Lucid to continue releasing occasional bug fixes, etc for older cars.

I guess that comes down to how Lucid chooses to interpret “Failing to install required software updates within 30 days after notification that an update is available.” No doubt, the release of Air UX 3.0 will be touted at least for marketing purposes, which could be interpreted as notification that it is available. Even though I'm hesitant to install Air UX 3.0 right away, I'm not about to risk losing the remaining 5+ years of my warranty.

My main point is to PLEASE not leave us hanging on the status of this CCCv2 Referral Store announcement. Since Nick Twork posted it months ago, it would seem reasonable for either him (or Marqie) to not just leave us hanging. If Nick misspoke, or if other powers that be subsequently said NFW, then just tell us!

Respectfully you are compounding two things: updating, and time period. Had macrocosmcwh known to update at any time, it would have been fine. But he was in jam because it was so out of date he was forced to take it in for the backlog. Catch 22.

Not to put too fine of a point on it, but they could not work on his TCU because the software was not updated at all, period. Not because he did so outside of a time window.

They pointed out that warranty said he had 30 days to do so, and they did not want to assume the liability of updating themselves it at the shop.

My car had lots of software updates some of which were 6 months old, so I just updated; no big deal. Warranty is fine. Nobody was interested in the timeline.

The way I see it, it’s when the car “announces” that the software is available for that specific car. Announcement and installation probably become part of the car’s software log. My ‘26 Air Pure has not shown 2.9.2 to be available yet — and I think that’s because it seems to be on pause, presumably for debugging. And I hope that’s because they’ve had some serious changes in attitude and policy. I want UX 3.0 (much less 2.9.2) as much as anyone — but I want them to be truly ready when they are released. We’ve all had enough (or too much) of “on your marks, get set… splat!” I hope the folks in Newark have had enough too, and I sense that maybe they have. 2¢ please.

So you’re insisting Lucid designed a system that cannot be updated past thirty days and it’s our fault? That’s wild.

Well, no. I am just saying the point of the OP is he could not find the old updates. I was lucky enough they were there for me. The 30-day thing was Lucid flexing warranty muscle.

I am aware you know more than me about these cars, but just wanted to point out they were using a loophole and not that updates are limited to a month before the clock runs out, as you are implying.

First, why do you think that Lucid has to prove anything to anybody? Also, I think they for sure have ways to track which car and phone app received the notification. Should not be that hard.

I have no disagreement with anything you've said.

I always want to believe that Lucid will take a reasonable position, and they usually do, but I don't want to risk my remaining warranty over it. For the sake of argument, say that Lucid chooses to download Air UX 3.0 to every car, but the announcement says that while it is downloaded... hence 'available'... it also says that installation can only be initiated on those cars with CCCv2 installed. I then call my local service center, and am told that I can get my CCCv2 installed three months from next Tuesday. I doubt that Lucid would void my warranty in that scenario, but why should I be in that position in the first place, when the only reason I am waiting to install CCCv2 is because Lucid announced something worth waiting for? I'm sitting on 36k referral points with a ticking clock and no place to go, so I would feel like a fool to pay for CCCv2 today and then see it show up on the Referral Store tomorrow. At this point, especially after seeing it on the $$$ Store for months now, and having read @marqie's at best confusing note about it, I increasingly believe that either Nick was wrong in the first place, or somebody in a position of authority changed their mind.

So, long-suffering (okay suffering is a bit strong) Pure owner here. Does anyone know if 2.9.x is going to show up for us after the false start last weekend? I would love to have Google search results in the NAV...

Nobody said that.

They can not require a payment (upgrade to CCCv2) to maintain a warranty, so the UX 3 upgrades will not be pushed to vehicles with CCCv1.
There is nothing stopping them from pushing all of the updates and simple feature flagging those pieces that are reliant on CCCv2

Ok against my better judgment I went ahead an updated to 2.9.0.... app wont connect to car says "battery very low charge now" even though it shows battery at 68%.
This is the new improved software team?!? I'm thinking it's just the old software team after 50% were laid off.
Beyond frustrated that there are so many bugs and issues. Not sure how to solve this one but I'll search this thread.... (yes, I hard rebooted car, force closed app, signed out of app and back in...)
If Lucid offered me buyback, I am sad to say I would jump ship. I am absolutely done with these basic software issues - these aren't even idosyncratic. To update and have the car do this is just unacceptable.
