Air Version 2.9.0

Just got off the phone with them. They said the OTA team found the issue causing this and they will push a fix tomorrow morning. They offered me an uber link if I needed it tonight and said to call back to request one if I need it tomorrow. I’ll report back in the morning.

Oof

Not to tell anyone how to do their business, but updates are not life-critical timing.

Why not push 50 vehicles and then pause for an hour or two to detect any issues?

Wash, rinse, repeat. (It's not like everyone hasn't been waiting weeks/months already anyway.)

It’s not like anyone needs their car on a Friday night.

So those of us stranded: what are we drinking? :) Having a bit of my barrel aged Negroni and watching the spurs 😆

Um. They do. Maybe not 50 but they absolutely roll it out to their test/internal fleet, and maybe employees, and then once it goes public release, they stage the rollout. That's why people complain so often about not getting a release for weeks.

And maybe not right before customer service closes on a Friday and a holiday weekend

Duh…..1. Push it to employee vehicles first. 2. Don’t release new update on a Friday……..duh

Come on Napoli……let’s get some basics down.

I updated mine to 2.9.2
I have a 2026 pure.

Drove around the block few miles. No issues. Pretty sure it’s not everyone.

I don't know what's 'normal' for the automotive industry, but while in IT we usually have "read only Friday" (don't make changes on Fridays) I can see some possible argument for releasing an OTA for cars starting on a Friday, as a way to not stick vehicles with issues on a weekday when most people are trying to get to work.

Though that would require ensuring you have the customer support and engineering resources available over the weekend.

24 Pure on 2.9.2. Updated and car is fine. I hadn’t tried putting it in drive since the update but just did and confirmed it’s fine. Thank god because I’m 400 miles from home. I did see the same Low Battery emergency alerts in the app others have reported right after it finished but it cleared after about 5 minutes. Possible that was the BMS update part of the OTA.

I just got the same problem. Finished updating about two hours ago. When I went to check out the update, a “Drive System Fault” alert went up in the screen as soon as I pressed the brake pedal. Software v2.9.2

The car is bricked, wont go into gear.

For those seeing this issue, you may be safer to not interact with the car too much. Seems like there’s a good chance the car can’t engage HV meaning the 12V battery is on its own, and could die if you keep it awake too much. I have no inside knowledge on the specific issue, but fruit for thought as I do this kind of work.

It was offered for my 2024 Pure, but it's no longer available. It seems they pulled it, given the report. Thank God that I didn’t try to install it right away, as I always do. Didn’t want to have the car bricked.

Wow, maybe I'm lucky that I haven't gotten notification of the update after all 😏
Same here. ‘25 Air Pure. And no update so far. May be a blessing in disguise. Hope they push out a fix asap for you guys.

It seems to affect t the Pure models only.
Hmm...is that correct? I do see many people specifically saying their pure received the update without issue. I hope they fix it for those affected on Monday.

Edit: Reading a little more - Is it the 2.9.0 or 2.9.2, or both, that are causing the drive fault? Was 2.9.2 only pushed to pures before it was halted?

My understanding is that 2.9.2 was only targeting Pure which was pushed out on Friday. My Pure was not offered 2.9.0 but 2.9.2 showed up Friday and then got pulled.

I did not read about mass issues with 2.9.0 in any forums. It seems to be associated with 2.9.2 with the understanding that it is only offered for RWD pures.
