Air Version 2.9.0

You're right, I don't hear excuses from them. Crickets, yes, but not excuses.
Lucid should be more forthcoming.

[1] this (Pure Bricking) is a foreseeable outcome. They missed it! They should tell us why they missed it and what they are doing differently going forward.
[2] from the posting from some affected owners, Lucid is taking a reactive posture. Yes, they are making 2.9.2 available. But Lucid does not seem to be doing an "all-hand-on-deck" tracking down Pure RWD owners and prioritizing 2.9.2 push and suspend 2.9.0 proliferation pending further validation.

The response to the snafu seems reactive!

This is unlikely, but I'd love to see a blameless post-mortem. I am certain they will be doing one internally, though.

The implication here, if you were to state the opposite, is that somehow Lucid is currently striving for OTAs that do brick a car. You and I both know that’s obviously not true.

It also seems obviously true that Lucid strives for OTAs that don’t brick a car. Clearly, in this case, they failed at that. But striving not to seems like specifically what they already do?
The opposite statement is NOT the implication here. This is not an either/or situation. There is absolutely no way they strived to brick a car. That is not my poiint.

But I wonder if their test plans are designed to detect bricking? I doubt it. But this particular issue WILL be part of the test plan going forward. It does not take much complication in software to make testing ALL possibilities not possible.

I don't think they need to.

I'm no Lucid fan, but the idea that they owe some sort of public penance that will certainly be used against them anyways, I just never understood it. What would they even say?

I mean it was a mistake, a stupid one, not unexpected given their current challenges, but what more do they need to do? Whip the guy that clicked "submit"?

I've had a lot of issues with Lucid, and I document them and talk about them here -but- I don't think particular people/teams need to be named and shamed anywhere. They're just doing their job best they can. I'm 100% ok saying, for example "XYZ Service Center Broke my Roof", but I'm never going to say the name of anyone there who worked on it, they have the right to be anonymous at their jobs.

I agree. Don’t feed the trolls. Just learn from the errors and make sure the next release is a trouble-free they can get it. Nothing succeeds like success.

I agree, peoples expectations are unrealistic and seem to want to hold Lucid more accountable than any other company that makes a mistake. Seems some people want to do this every time something happens

Lucid’s tagline is Compromise Nothing.
“Built Ford Tough.”

Meanwhile Ford has had recalls for everything from transmissions to engines to electrical issues over the years. Nobody responds to a recall with “WOW, guess they LIED about being tough.”

We can play this game forever…… it’s a slogan, not a declaration of engineering perfection.

I always find it comical when somebody tries to use this against them. That is an advertising pitch. It’s not meant to be taken literally. What would you like them to say, Compromise Some Things? Perhaps we need to give them a little break on this. They fixed the problem and yet we are discussing it for much longer than the problem itself actually existed. I have a feeling there’s a lot of people here in glass houses.

I don't mean public shaming. That's not the goal.

I think most of us who own a Lucid agree that Lucid is an innovator and leader in power train, efficiency and cabin utilization. Those are their key selling points. These eye-candies get people interested in acquiring a Lucid car. And most of us were/are in that category.

Now, once you start owning the vehicle, while you still enjoy the power, the efficiency, and the cabin, you start to encounter daily annoyances such as FOB, entry problems, navigation problems, botched SW updates, the car kept asking for your PIN, efficiencies that are exaggerated, service center problems, promised features you paid extra for but were never delivered. All of these factors contribute to the poor resale value of Lucid cars thus, giving existing owners pause whether they would buy another Lucid.

Before anyone respond by saying "fast depreciating is a generic EV problem", I beg to differ. My 2023 Rivian R1S, purchased for ~65% the cost I paid for my Lucid 1 year after I purchased the Lucid, is worth significantly more than my Lucid at resale at today's market.

Unlike many of their competitors, Lucid 's portfolio is rather thin. Lucid has Air, Gravity, and (maybe Cosmo). In contrast, Rivian, as a US competitor, has R1S/R1T/R2, Amazon delivery vehicles, VW, and a SW business. Rivian will likely also get a much bigger slice of Uber's self-drive taxi than Lucid.

In my humble opinion, Lucid is at risk staying as an independent EV manufacturer.

Circling back to the original point:

> I am not looking for Lucid to make a public apology, shaming them, and have someone fall on his/her sword. By acknowledging their lapses AND assuring the owners they are embracing well-proven methodologies of root-causing their snafus and enhancing their efforts in validation, it helps to motivate owners/perspective buyers to give them a chance to get to the promise land!

I was just in the corporate website and I don’t see the tagline there anymore.

You seem to be missing the point or just trolling now.

Thanks for clarifying; tone is hard to read via text.

I’m fairly certain the answer to this is yes.

I agree with you completely.

Neither. I was simply correcting myself. Some time in the last couple of months that ceased to be their tagline. Your point is that perfection is impossible and that it is unrealistic to expect that there would be. I actually agree. But that’s no reason not to aspire to it. I would imagine that there are some pretty serious discussions in Newark in the last few days. That’s appropriate. I trust that something better will come from it. Perfection? No. Something closer? I think so.

I do understand that the uninitiated handling a high voltage battery or anything connected to it might be a bad idea.
🤣

I've tried everything suggested but still can't get the calls to go through the car's speaker system. I can ask Siri to place the call and it does respond through the car's speakers that it is placing it but then the ring and the conversation only go through the iphone's speaker. Everything else does work okay. Guess I'll just have to live with it.
