Air to Gravity trade-in

Yowza, not trying to start a flame war. Just commenting on the 18 month lease deals, which when coupled with what looks to me like Lucid slashing prices, for a company burning a lot of cash, seems to suggest a certain picture to me, but hey, it's just an opinion. I'm very excited for Gravity and don't claim any special knowledge. 🤷‍♂️ I hope it comes soon with a feature set that works for me. I joined to learn more about Gravity, and I've already learned a lot from many threads, so thanks to those who've posted so much.
Playing armchair CEO is one of the things that typically isn't tolerated in here. Yes, you can make criticisms share your opinion etc. but implying things about the "why" they're slashing prices because of XYZ when you don't work for the company is just pure speculation and not useful information in an owners forum.

Yes, Lucid is hemorrhaging cash, so is Rivian and so did Fisker to its detriment. This is a cash hungry business with heavy investment needed in the early days to hopefully reap the rewards in the future. Tesla hemorrhaged cash also to the verge of bankruptcy many times until it got to the Model 3 so it's unfair to then imply Lucid should do this or that to save cash etc. All these startups need to follow the same approach and it's survive with backing from heavy investors until they get to a mass produced model to where they can hopefully survive on their own. The Air and Gravity aren't going to get Lucid to profitability, they're not intended to. Its the 2026 mid-market that will be the eventual money maker for them. Lucid has heavy backing from the PIF to get them to that point.

FYI - Lucid's cash isn't just being thrown down the drain at making the Air and losing "$300K" per vehicle. A significant chunk of the cash is going in factory expansion & R&D which is all being invested so they're ready to go when it comes time to announce and release the mid-market model.

The Gravity should do well for Lucid but if anyone thinks it's going to be Lucd's mass market money maker then they're in for a shock....$80K+ cars have a limited space to play in. And yes, if I was you at this point in time given how close the Gravity is to release i'd probably hold off on getting the Air and just wait a few more months for the SUV

I just hope they give fair trade-in values. I’d love to get a Gravity, but only if I don’t loose a ton on my AGT.
Prepare to be in shock with the numbers. Wholesale on low mile GT is around 57K as someone posted previous auction results.

If that’s the case I’ll keep my GT a bit longer before getting a Gravity.

It will be prolly in the mid to high 40s range by the time gravity launches.

I just talked to Lucid Customer Service after seeing someone on Reddit claim Lucid had a trade-in program, which I thought was not true.

I turns out that Lucid has recently launched a trade-in program that will be administered by Kelley Blue Book. However, it is not available in some states due to state law (Texas being one they mentioned as not included), and at this point the program only takes in non-Lucid vehicles. Lucid is still working on a trade-in program to take in Airs on trade.

The reason for the difference is that the KBB program is taking vehicles which have firm resale values established. Kelley will take title to the traded vehicles, thus leaving Lucid out of the ownership transfer chain. (This seems much like the program KBB runs for Rivian trade-ins.)

Lucid is working on a separate plan to take in Airs itself to put in their used-car inventory, and they still have to work out some of the numbers and procedures.

Customer Service recommended that anyone interested in a trade-in talk to a sales advisor in their own state due to the regional variances in the program due to state laws.

Im now on the fence with whether I trade the air to lease the Gravity or not. I really wish Lucid would start to communicate the sales / leasing numbers with Gravity to decide whether I just cancel and move on.

The values are tanking and may just be better to suck it up a keep the Air for much longer than anticipated. I expected high depreciation but certainly not the extent that we’re currently seeing.

I did talk to a sales advisor about this very thing yesterday in Texas - she said no trade in coming any time soon here, but it has been discussed constantly. She thought the only state that the pilot was going to be was California but wasn’t certain. They are missing out on a conquest opportunity by people who are turned off by their current ride and don’t want the hassle of multiple transactions and missing the trade in tax benefits.

I'm in the same boat. I really like my AGT, but would also like to trade it for a Gravity. Until I hear official details about an Air trade-in program, I'll remain on the fence, while continuing to enjoy my AGT. I seriously think Lucid is missing the boat on this. They should have thought this through and announced a plan when Gravity orders started. They must have known people would be considering trades.

Customer Service told me that Florida has the KBB trade-in program.

I would be curious to check how much my Air is worth today. KBB doesn’t have a value for Air. This will certainly drive my decision to get G or not.

Blame your state not Lucid

I blame my state for a lot - but Lucid hasn’t had a trade in program anywhere for several years already.

Lucids have existed to buy for three years. Not exactly what anyone would call “several.”

Lol - weird thing to debate

Britannica Dictionary definition of SEVERAL

:
more than two but not very many
  • Several of the guests left early.
  • I haven't read all of her books, but I've read several

This announcement doesn't mention anything about Lucid's own cars not yet being accepted for trades, although Customer Service told me yesterday that currently only non-Lucid vehicles were accepted.
The announcement doesn't say "limited trades in" or "some trades in" or "selected trades in" or "exclusions..."
