2.8.0 Software Update

Here's some speculation for you: Lucid may be reevaluating the hands-free feature in light of the Tesla verdict today, or having their lawyers come up with a stronger warning. I'm sure their liability insurers are taking a look at the issue.
What was the Tesla verdict and on which lawsuit?

I feel like I should get this update before you all. My car doesn’t even have DD premium nor Pro. Lol. But I anm excited about my front trunk potentially working better. Opening it is a disaster constantly

Has service already had a look at it?

I tried a toasted ham sandwich with cheddar, does not seem to have been effective. Will monitor and post updates

This will definitely have Lucid thinking and rightly so. They need to revise their terms and warning. I wouldn't be surprised if they actually delay the release. This is serious matter.

Do we need to bring @ec256 and his patience quotes to all the owners that didn't go through the AA waiting game? Sheesh... this wait is a nothingburger.

Yeah. Silly to whine about an update that’s already getting pushed. Nothing-burger picture attached:

Every post in this forum makes me think it's here! Stop faking me out!

On July 31, a mobile Lucid technician came over to install the version two console hardware in my 2022 Air GT. I asked him to install version 2.8.0 at that time. He said it was not available yet and it would probably be another two weeks. So it was delayed before the Tesla settlement was publicly known.

According to a senior member of Lucid's service organization that I spoke with, 2.80 was supposed to have been released on 7/27, but then was pushed out to 7/31. I was told that the release still had not been "validated" on 8/1, and that a revised release date was not available. Perhaps, the verdict in the Tesla case caused Lucid to be more cautious in its release.

Mobile service (and service more generally) doesn’t usually have insight into when OTAs will be released, so I wouldn’t rely on that info.

I would just like to speak up as a “Lucid Defender” and state that I have no opinion on this matter. All I have is facts. Fact 1: Lucid gave a specific date for the update. Fact 2: it appears most if not all owners on here have not received the update yet. Fact 3: there is a reason for most if not all owners not having received the update yet.

Sorry for alienating everyone by pointing that out. Can we get a show of hands for those who think the update should be sent out NOW when there’s a reason it has not been sent out NOW?
They didn't. They gave a specific date when the roll out would start. Some people got it. They've been telling us all along that when software is released, it's rolled out over a period of several weeks. If it's not there three weeks after the beginning of the roll out, then there's a reason to discuss it.
