2023 Lucid Air Touring

It pains me to type this as I am helpless and frustrated with my experience owning a Lucid. Lucid has been my dream car for many years, and when I was finally able to attain a 2023 Lucid air touring on June 12, 2026, it was one of the most happiest fulfilling moments of my life.

What happens beyond is where I am at a loss for words. I love driving the car, everyone can agree it drives like a dream.

Let’s start the series of events:

I get the car and it has a couple of issues. 3 of the 4 handles don’t present themselves. 3 door linings are coming off. The frunk doesn’t close fully by itself without a strong push down. The tire pressure sensor is always on even though it says 45 on all of them. All of this is promised to be covered under the warranty and the Lucid’s able mobile service will come fix it for me.

They said all of this can be done, along with which they suggest a B service with a multipoint inspection costing 600$. They schedule me 5 weeks out, and I wait patiently, putting up with everything. The day arrives, and a tech shows up, he does a service (fluid changes), comes to me, tells me it needs to go to service center, it was a Friday, was told I will get a call Monday. NOTHING was fixed or touched, fluids changed, charged 600$ and GHOSTED.

I reach out to Lucid 5 times over a period of 2 weeks, 50 mins to 1.5 hour call each time. No response. No call back. I get through to customer service, and they give the same thing of “oh service center will reach out, we have let them know”

Weeks later I get a call from the Cold Water service center, they apologize and tell me that the tech who worked on my car quit the job that weekend and never put in a request for my car. NOTHING was reported, they lost my service record basically and everything vanished until I kept reaching back to them. His words were “this is not what Lucid is, this is not what should have happened” and goes ahead and schedules me 5 more weeks away to August 20th. Mind you, 2.5 months since the purchase of the car, and nothing done, and robbed of 600+$. Nothing fixed.

I explained when this was being set, that I want the car to be taken to the service center like I was told, because I do not trust mobile service to fix all of this by then. I was promised, convinced, lied to my face, of all of these issues will be fixed in the one visit on August 21st, I give in. I was told I will get an email for pictures of my lining, never got the email ofcourse. I wait again, patiently.

August 21st arrives, I have taken an off day from work, I call lucid first thing in the morning to confirm I will be getting a service tech today, I am told, “yes sir, you are in the books, expect a call when the tech is 30mins to an hour away”, guess what, I wait by my window, waiting till 4pm, and no one comes. I then call lucid again, and am received by another apology, put on hold and they try to contact Cold Water, ofcourse nothing goes through and they said we have left them a voicemail. All I ask is for a communication or a schedule or a call back with an update before the end of day. The customer service rep promises me “yes sir, I will update you before the end of the day, believe me”, and ofcourse no call back. It is now sunday night, August 24th. I have owned this car for 2.5 months and spent over a 100 hours, trying to have Lucid come for a basic fix and service for my car. For it to be fixed under the warranty and the level of service they promise.

I am just sad, and I hope to God some miracle comes through such that owning this car can be the pleasant experience I know it can be. Sigh.

This really sucks. It didn’t used to be this way, and seems location-dependent, but I am extremely hopeful this gets fixed.

If it doesn’t, it’s very bad.

Hopefully new CEO will get communication fixed. That’s why I stopped buying used cars. I don’t care even if I would have saved 40-50k. You never know what issues the car had. ICE or EV…..never buying used. And even for my teenagers…..new cars.

Oh yeah I’ve heard that before. It is how they are. The good people are gone and it sucks. I had almost the exact same thing happen in October of 26 (tech quit and I got abandoned) and it’s only gotten worse. You do get good people in front line service but then from there things fall apart. I’m still stuck can’t get ahold of anyone can’t get my car fixed.

You haven’t had anyone come since October? Or this is a new series of issues

Mobile kinda just died in this area and there is nobody to send. They tried twice. First time nobody showed ups second time they cracked my glass roof and left.

My car has been shipped to service in two states, five times, and is still not fixed. It’s just rotting on the curb in front of my house while I wait. 120 days out of service, shipped 3 times to California and 2 times to Washington. It is still stuck in valet mode and the roof bow (the metal on the roof that covers the seam on the rear glass) is peeling off. Again.

That genuinely scares me so much. I hope they get it figured out for you.

Oh they literally can’t. Service has requested Lucid buy it back twice under lemon law. First time Lucid sent a lawyer and argued against it. Then the car broke again and their own service department again said they can’t fix it, it’s a lemon, and requested buyback. But now their lemon law department no longer responds to anyone. It’s been over a month. There’s nobody there anymore it’s a ghost town. Had to get a lawyer even he doesn’t know what to do. It’s insane.

As a customer of Coldwater, I am surprised. Jason has been wonderful to me and, although they are besieged by the same problems other service centers are, I have never been told an untruth (I believe a "lie" is intentional and use the word sparingly.)

Did you buy the car from Lucid or from the used car market in general?

Their lawyer is busy suing bloggers in Germany

My car was brand new and I had the same experience.

Napoli's recent shuffle replaced and (perhaps) elevated the customer-facing executives.

I know that was only 3 weeks ago. But some of the things customers are complaining can be fixed quickly. For example, how difficult is it to staff the phone line, answer the calls, log and prioritize the calls, have a daily 7AM meeting with the Service Center managers to disposition the calls, and return the customers' calls in 24hrs.?!!

The C-suit execs should be dealing with the customers, not just meeting amongst themselves!

This puzzles me. Why doesn't your lawyer just have them served with papers? If they don't respond, the court will have you win by default.

As rough as my language could be, it really is just rooted in frustration. I hope the wonderful service you have received is what I am able to as well. Waiting patiently.

Does it matter where I bought the car from? Arguing semantics over the level of service is favorable bias. I love Lucid, I am an investor, I have spent many years waiting to own this car. The issues it has is common issues, door seals, door handles not presenting, sensor issue. These are fixable things with a known history. The lying refers to the multiple statements and promises made, and not followed through on.

Jason was really good on his call with me, but none of what he said was followed through on, and this was followed by being ghosted and unserved. I have reached out again to customer service this morning, I have been told that this will be in front of them until I am answered.

I am hopeful, and I really want to own this car forever. I hope I am able.

I was interested to know if it was purchased from Lucid, where I would think those issues would have been corrected prior to selling to you.

No need to apologize - I wasn't correcting your statement, just clarifying my own. It is way too easy to see poor service documented on this forum and I appreciate how lucky my experiences have been,

Hope you get everything on track and enjoy your car - when they run, they're awesome!

I completed my annual Lucid survey last week. Note that I have had around fifteen successful referrals since I bought my vehicle in 2023, and I have consistently rated Lucid highly in the past. This time, when the very first question asked if I would recommend that someone gets a Lucid, my response was 2 out of 10. I elaborated that I would only recommend one of their vehicles to someone who views it as a fun 'toy' to fool around with from time to time, but not as a daily driver, and that this opinion was solely due to the collapse of Lucid's service and support infrastructure. Not only have contact and wait times become ridiculously long, but it seems insane that the typical instructions are to bring the car in so it can sit in the service lot for a long time waiting for someone to get around to it. While my car has been very reliable, I now live in fear that something significant will go awry, and I'll be left in the lurch without a car. How can this be the case with a company preparing to increase their sales exponentially, when they can't even properly service their meager installed base? Tons of money building huge manufacturing capability so they can crank out vehicles that can't be properly serviced? Baffles me.

Because they aren’t or can’t. It looks like a failed company selling off leftovers. Is it? Time will tell.

Didn’t you go through arbitration? What was the outcome of that? Something doesn’t quite add up.
