Engineering Explained. This is bad.

The trunk flying open even if you didn’t latch it properly wouldn’t cause an accident. The frunk flying open and completely obstructing your view of the road would.
It could but it's not for sure. My driver's training simulated this, and we were trained to quickly look through the gap under the open hood, bring the car to a safe stopping point. Real life is messier than training but it's a reflex that could save your and others' lives.
I'm OK with the limp mode for an unsecured frunk.

And this totally dismisses the Model Y, which is by far the best selling midsize EV anywhere.
Anywhere? Apparently China isn’t anywhere?
Lets be really realistic about ev’e and China

I have all the profile and screen issues what EE is talking about. It seems the software is worst when you have two drivers profiles set.
I hope Lucid listens now and do something about this, i have reported this 1000 times to Lucid and no ears heard it.
So what happens if you delete one of the profiles?

I'm thinking of cutting off those rubber bibs to reduce amount of force needed to remove my coffee cup...I wish they'd not added those nubs in there to begin with...
I’ll bet that you can roll the car and not loose your drink

The frunk issue happened to me again, it has been happening on and off for months. The misalignment was 'fixed; but the problem persisted to a point that i stopped using the frunk. Toiday i had to use it, so i tried opening it but it wouldn't open, it would open an inch then shut again but wouldn't latch shut. Called customer service, car had to be towed to my house from the hospital i work at, i had to be ubered to my clinic and had to cancel patients that were scheduled. I was also told 'Coldwater is receiving tons of tows currently that they have to intake. Could you set up your own rental and keep all the receipts, and coldwater service advisor will reimburse you'. No details given on what is the daily limit for rental car (it's $100), will they cover rental insurance(They don't)etc?. At the end of my work day, i had to call lucid and request to speak to with the Coldwater service center advisor so i could get details on what would lucid cover and what they wouldn't. Then i was told, 'given the frigid temperatures, water must have seeped in and froze hence the frunk isn't opening/closing. I explained to him that this has been happening for months where it takes multiple tries to open the frunk and that i had stopped using it for this very reason. Even if the cold temperature thing is true, the fact of the matter is, the car is unusable because the frunk would open and now won't latch shut. I was also told, i would have to put a lot of weight on the hood for it to shut, I am 5 feet small girlie, so i had a 6 foot colleague use his strength and even then it wouldn't latch shut. What i take away from this with my very limited knowledge, is that 1) Frunk hardware is an issue because even after it was 'fixed' i still can't use it, 2) seems like frunk can only be used when temp is above 30 degrees, if the Coldwater service center is to be believed with that freezing theory 3) when they get busy, you are left on your own to arrange rentals with no details given on the amount allowed per diem and other details 4) This is the same service center that had said handsfree only works when speed is more than 25 mph, which clearly isn't true from my personal experience and comments from other members. Summary: My 25 AT is a great car, but i cannot ignore these blatant issues that are affecting my personal and work life with dismal service. I am patient, i don't argue, i don't yell especially at lucid customer service reps who answer calls because none of this is their fault but at some point i need an answer, can i use this car in temps lower than 30 degrees or water will find it's way in places and freeze making the car unusable. If the car won't function in 30 degree temp in Michigan because the frunk can't latch shut because of water freezing, it is unacceptable. Yes, I am upset at bad service and excuses, thanks for listening to my rant, i am just tired of this car that I want to love so desperately. Please don't yell at me if I you think i hate lucid, i don't, I just want the car to work and the service department to help, it is not acceptable to say 'arrange your own rental and we will reimburse' and provide no details. I don't have a youtube channel to rant and i can't yell at my patients when i am upset so here i am ranting. But yes, there are many like me who desperately want to love this car but are having multiple issues.
This issue is back and seems like it wasn't fixed, it's hot and humid in Michigan (not freezing), tried to use the frunk after the 'misalignment' was fixed for the 5th time on my frunk and it still not usable. Was at Costco, needed to store something in the Frunk, prayed to all the Gods and clicked on the frunk button, did the same thing as described above, would rise a few inches and then shut back down but won't latch. Had to get it towed back home, then it automatically latched. Called customer service, and now my car is being taken to the service center and I was told 'do not touch the frunk'. Four days ago, at the hospital, I got in my car and my frunk automatically unlatches and opened all the way, I didn't click anything, I went outside and thank the lord, it closed and latched and didn't go in to limp mode requiring a tow.

I have avoided using the frunk since it has always given me trouble and left me stranded. I was told not to get car washes in the winter because water gets in to the frunk latch so I don't, I just clean the cameras, in the summer too now the frunk isn't usable. To summarize for me, half the car's storage isn't usable, I do not factor that space in when planning trips, shopping and for luggage storage. Why would I want a car where I can't use half it's storage space, I hope it's just me and not a systemic issue. To provide context, my frunk has been 'fixed' FIVE times for the same issue.

Does this meet Michigan's lemon law requirements?

That is a very crappy experience. Sorry to hear.

One note: you can push down hard just above the L and D on the frunk cover and it will latch, even if it didn’t automatically.

I will have to check on that and do some research, i am fairly ignorant about lemon law requirements.

Yes every time I call customer service, they have me try this before they agree to tow my vehicle.

I have stopped opening my frunk due to the same issue with my Air (not sure if it’s the same engineering issue as the Gravity). Despite multiple pushes and open-close sessions, it keeps telling me it is not closed and limits my ability to drive at normal speeds. It took about 20 open-close sessions the last time for it to agree that the frunk was indeed closed.

This by itself is not that big a deal because I don’t typically store anything in the frunk.
What’s annoying is that I cannot fill my window washer fluid out of fear that the frunk will not latch and get into one of its moods.

As they say, I pray for rain.

THIS! I have had to bring out a portable heater and run it in the garage, and then try to open the frunk and hope it opens so i can refill the windshield washer fluid. I swear I have tried everything for this stupid frunk to work. Sorry you are dealing with this well, I hope yours gets fixed.

Thank you. Frankly, I have a few more months left in my lease. I am chalking it up to a learning experience and going with a more traditional brand. I don’t deserve to deal with this while paying for a $140k car.

I had this problem when I first got the car. I used a silicone spray on the locking mechanism and the latch itself. This solved the problem for me.

To be fair, my wife’s Audi froze the darned air intake vents AND the hood latch. I needed a heater inside and outside for two days before I got defrost back.
So winter weather is tough on all vehicles.
So sorry you are having this issue :-(

I don't even know how this works, but for whatever reason, if I use the car remote for the frunk, it works 90% of the time. The 10% that I decide to use the left panel screen or the main screen, all hell breaks loose. The more I use the frunk, the more problems I have with the stupid latch. I wonder if the newer models have problems too.

Is your car's software up to date? I thought that Lucid addressed this issue some time ago.

I've been told it's not a software issue; something's up with the latch. And I'm one of the fortunate ones, according to my service tech. Whatever that means. Frunk isn't important enough to argue.
