I'm thinking of cutting off those rubber bibs to reduce amount of force needed to remove my coffee cup...I wish they'd not added those nubs in there to begin with...

Same for me. Incredible car. Reliable and super easy to own and drive. My wife has now left her M50 and insists on driving my Air instead - because she trusts it, loves the way it drives and looks. To me (and anyone who knows her) this says it all - the Air is an incredible vehicle.

I said the same in the comments for Jason’s Engineering explained video. I think there is variability in every car brand and I suspect Lucid has more variability than other more established brands do. But we have been very lucky to date. (Knock on wood..)

get a cupholder expander instead- especially if youre leasing!
 
Not sure if this has been mentioned before. But I just saw an article from about a week ago saying that Nick Twork said Lucid is going to release a new software update FOR GRAVITY based on negative YouTube reviews. No mention of fixing Air issues related to this video or others 🤔

I found a work around for this offline issue. I just need to turn off WiFi and use LTE only. It seems like once the car is connected to WiFi, it will not search for another source once it’s out of WiFi range. I turned WiFi off and then reset the car several days ago. No problem since.

My AT has been ok overall but what’s annoying is that I always need to turn off something to have another thing to work.

-For the app to have a stable connection with the car, I need to turn off WiFi in the car.

-For my phone to not constantly unlocking the car while I walk around the house, I need to turn off my phone’s Bluetooth.

-For me to listen to Spotify without interruption, I need to listen through CarPlay with worse sound quality.

For what it's worth, the tall coffee (and water) cups available on the Lucid stores fit pretty well...

Actually large bottles don’t fit, bad design by Lucid. I always have to put my kids large bottle in the middle where the charger is. Such a simple thing made complicated.

Just "forget" the WiFi that you have trouble with, no need to turn WiFi off completely. There are certain WiFi networks that the Lucid has trouble with. I don't know if anybody has found what the issue is. For example, if I connect to the main WiFi network at home, I can't connect to the car. If I connect to the Guest WiFi, I can (although it takes a bit longer than when it's just LTE).
 
Actually I like the cupholder design. It holds smaller drink containers very well, and you can always get a large drink adapter for bubba-sized drinks. I've had cars with larger drink holders in the past that didn't hold a 12oz can securely enough to prevent sloshing/spillage. There are adapters for going larger, but I haven't seen one that takes a larger drink holder and makes it smaller.

It's hard to design something like this that makes everyone happy. The design team just has to make choices. That doesn't mean everyone has to like it. :cool:

Not that hard. Use some sort of spring assisted component that can adapt to multiple sizes. These cup holders are definitely too tight. The adaptors you mention are bulky and cheap looking.

The doors have detents made specifically for water bottles.

Like I said, it is hard to design something like this that makes everybody happy. And BTW, the beating of heads over a cup holder design is perhaps the greatest example of a first world problem I've ever seen.

The problem lack of thought in basic design philosophy. I’m perplexed.

Americans like using large water bottles. The size of the cup holders baffles me.

Touch points need to be better quality- door handles, indicator stalks, real metal buttons for dash. This would add maybe $200-$300 to cost to produce but will give a much better quality feel of a 100k vehicle.

You have a way of dramatically under estimating the design tradeoffs involved in a car like the Lucid Air. Lucid is still a very low volume auto manufacturer but was even lower volume when the Air was designed. Custom seats were likely not an option, so Lucid had to choose a comfortable seat frame and assembly that was already in manufacturing. Do you select a narrow less comfortable seat that allows for a large center console and larger cup holders or do you select a wider more comfortable seat and mitigate the small cup holder with a larger water bottle holder in the door. I think Lucid made the right choice since comfortable massaging seats are a lot more important to driver comfort than cup holder size.

As much as you post here, I am perplexed that you do not understand the complexity of design or complexity manufacturing an automobile.
 
While we are at it, I think the cup holders are the least of their concerns, let's talk about the elephant in the room...the reflectors in the bumper are WAY too big, I mean come on are we landing a plane or driving a car?!

The taillights are integrated into the clamshell trunk. So when the trunk is open, there is no visible reflector. This isn’t Lucid design. This is regulatory.
 
I'm sorry I thought it was obvious that was satirical. And there are still reflectors in the lower bumper.
 
Throw some money at Apple. Maybe they can help with software. The “walled garden” approach could work for a car. Or would that be worse?
