Timeline for me:
7 May: Ordered
6 July: Modified
6 August: Modified again
5 September: My order was added to the queue (but I didn't know)
1 October: Saw a similar design available, ordered it. After being told about my order being in the queue and given a timeline of 8-12 weeks from the 5 Sep date (so sometime in November), I canceled this order.
31 October: After hearing nothing and no status change, asked my delivery specialist. Was given a new timeline of beginning production mid-November, delivery late December. That timing wouldn't work for me due to various travel plans, so I started looking at available vehicles again.
3 November: Swapped my order to an available vehicle.
8 November: Picked up my new Gravity.

So my overall timeline was ~6 months, but if I'd waited for my original order it probably would have been closer to 8.

Love the car. Bugs, squeaky second row seats and all.

I definitely should’ve waited for a fully loaded touring. There’s effectively no difference except in HP and it’s $20k less fully loaded. Oh well. My wife will take my GGT and I am downgrading existing order to Touring.

Option-for-option, Grand Touring is always +$15K more than Touring. Maybe I should threaten to replace by GT with Touring so that they can move up my production date 🤔
 
Upgrading from Touring to Grand Touring costs $15K, and the benefits are 33% increased range and 48% more horsepower.

For me, the horsepower would be nearly meaningless, but I really appreciate the greater range. Not just because of the increased distance between charges, but also because you can charge to a reasonable range much faster.* And as the battery degrades over its lifetime, the smaller pack would become increasingly inconvenient. I'm glad I got a GT.

I haven't finished the breaking in period yet (I'm at about 1450 miles), but right now a fully charged pack would take me about 330 miles at highway speeds. Assuming this ends up around 340 once the breaking in period is done, switching to a Touring would mean my max range would be about 270. In my Model S, my real max was about 230, and there were many occasions when I was white knuckling to the next charger.

* I assume charging speeds are similar between the two battery packs, but you'd approach the top end of a smaller battery much sooner. I see charging speed begin to taper off around 50% SoC.

The Touring has fewer modules (16 vs 22), thus the max voltage is 670 vs 900, meaning it will charge slower. The larger pack will stay in the sweet spot longer too, so it's definitely the pack to have for range and miles per minute of charging. I too was surprised to see that the only difference between the GT and GGT was the HP and battery. It does make the GT a pretty attractive vehicle. Our GGT is our family road trip car, so I would have selected the GGT over the GT anyway. No regrets,

I don’t think they’d care. I do wonder if they’ll let me switch though. I’d be fine with one of our Gravity having less range and being modestly “slower”.

Yes, but it’s kind of a meaningless difference of four minutes to 200 miles. 15 for GT and 11 for GGT.

Honestly, the range loss with GT doesn’t bother me given the charge speeds and NACS.

The HP is likely an artificial limit used to get to the range they wanted, right? Can’t imagine they’re using different motors when it’s clear that aside from battery, they purposely kept everything else the same to ease production (I think).

Higher HP likely due to higher voltage from more series batteries.

Lucid does not use different motors but they do use different inverters with a different number of SiC MOSFETS. So the voltage is lower due to the smaller battery and the current may also be reduced by the inverter so the HP limitation is more than software.

Didn't get a good pic, but got this bad boy delivered in the rain today. Originally ordered 11/7/24. Switched to this one last Monday from the inventory list. Passed PDI this past Saturday. Picked up from Torrance last night and delivered to me today.

Ordered my GGT a couple days after the configurator becomes active about a year ago. Told by SA that production is completed and ready to schedule for delivery.

Hopefully I will be able to go pick it up this weekend.

Been reading this forum for months trying to prepare myself for all the potential early adopter challenges. Learned a bunch and hopefully I’m prepared. This community is awesome.

Wish me luck!
 
Will bring a Samsung T7 , shield,1tb , for halo secure to my scheduled GGT pickup. Though checkout will probably be a blur and will only partially go through the pickup checklist.

it appears the sail panel (sides of the roof) are white - or is that a reflection from the overcast skies?
 
Tried to take delivery yesterday of the Dream Edition I’d been waiting for since April.

Made it precisely 3 feet before an alert popped up “PULL OVER NOW - CONTACT SERVICE”. Apparently a drive unit fault?

They gave me a loaner and sent me home.

The wait continues.

(Staff was great. No complaints there.)

That’s a reflection. I think they’re platinum.

I think it’s called a cantrail, based on what folks on forum have said.
 
Looks like my GGT has been waiting on the Casa Grande lot for at least since beginning of November, as now I have access to its updates. Fingers crossed for that 3.3.9 version
