Since my Model S works fine (more the only issue being politics), I decided not to play Russian Roulette now and will see what Lucid does with the Air in 2026 or 2027 (hopefully get a v2). Love the car but don't want to deal with early adopter headaches.

Minor issues, I never use phone slot, I plug in the cable. Don’t deprive yourself of the best sport sedan ever made.

2.5 years in, still get an itch to drive the car. It excites me like no other car!

If you want perfect reliability, only one car dies it- Toyota. Perhaps, a toyota EV is best for you? But compared to the Air, handling, driving, range, efficiency, looks, space - will be abysmal.

What about a BMW 850 Gran Coupe M series, Porsche Cayenne Coupe, Audi RSQ8, or even a Cadillac Blackwing? All are top ranked sports cars with more stable OS...

I'd def like to compare a run down chart for time spent in the service center(and in transit) of any one of the above vs my lucid pure :)

- had the car sleepy desire just go on for 2 minutes. Turned that setting off, I think.

- car play just sucks ass. The sound already is shit and then interrupted by my phone sounds.

I have been in too many situations in less than 2 months where the car is not responding. If this shit continues, I can’t do lucid. These seem like easy software updates so I’m hoping there is a fix. If anyone can enlighten me on these issues, please…

I drove the Tesla Model S for 12 years (3 different cars) and switched to Lucid almost 20 months ago. I agree with everything you've said. The car drives great, albeit the range is nothing near what the car says it should be, but there are definitely a lot of bugs in the software that need to get addressed. I've gotten used to most of them and some have improved with updates, but I doubt I'll re-up when my lease runs out unless things significantly improve. Enjoy the drive and don't get too worked up the software.

OS? They have ability to have OTA updates? I don’t consider those cars big into software. Lucid, Rivian and Tesla or on another level.
 
Lucid's software is it's weakest point, that is not a compelling statement. I will happily share a run down chart of how much time my pure has been in transit/at SC vs a RSQ8 which is what I am leaning towards as my next car.

While OTA's are cool, this maturity model is still in it's infancy.

This sounds very much like the problems we had intermittently with the 2021 Model S Plaid we sold a couple of months ago. It would periodically go through stretches of several days when the car would not recognize the mobile key or the key fob. The only way to get into the car would be the key card. Even then, about half the time the car would not start until we rubbed the key card over the phone charge pad. The problem came and went the entire three and a half years we owned the car.

And the automatic gear selection feature for forward and reverse never worked reliably.

I could go on . . . but I just don't take seriously these claims that Tesla software is perfect.

Whatever software problems Lucid has -- and they are certainly there -- I'd still take the room, comfort, ride compliance, more precise handling, luxury materials, interior quietness, and structural solidity of our Air over a Tesla any day of the week (and we've owned Teslas since 2015).

Agree. I love my 2022 Air GT. Software has/is problematic at times, but MUCH improved from the version 1.x.x days. I also have two Tesla model 3. A 2023 and 2024. Both have problems with the phone access at times as well. Not as frequently as the Lucid, but it happens. Today I got into the 2024 Model 3 and my iPhone unlocked the car but would not let me drive it demanding a card key on the center console. I did not have it. I am the OWNER, not an added driver. So I had to delete the key and re-create it. So Tesla has been at this EV game for a decade longer than Lucid and still has issues, fewer, but still issues.
 
From all the opinions here, you can see that there is a lot of variance. You might want to check into the various owner's forums (fora?) for the other vehicles and see if the quality of their software checks out.

BTW, according to friends Rivian's software is pretty good. So, not ALL companies go through "growing pains". If I mention to somebody that I can't start driving my car for few minutes if I turn on the AC remotely, I'll get laughed at. But I had to do it for FEW MONTHS because Lucid can't get their ... act together.

You’re factually wrong. Lucid has both employed testers and also a group of owner testers which get OTA early to find bugs in various vehicle incarnations before wide release. This is partly why the Android Auto release took time. I am not one of the testers. While I do not disagree that random intermittent glitches seem to get introduced with OTA, the OTA also fix others, such is the complexity of software releases, see Volvo/Polestar. Hyundai/Kia/Genesis don’t really even do OTA.

And for gods sake just use the Fob to get into and out of the car. It’s not that hard. If the handles don’t present with fob in pocket, push in rear passenger door handle. If that doesn’t work double squeeze the fob. My car was built March 2022 and has had almost no connectivity problems partly because I don’t use mobile key. Is it annoying the mobile key on the phone isn’t always reliable? Yes. So just use the fob which is really very little inconvenience aside from having to change the battery every 4 months or so. Since your situation is so intermittent it’s probably due to either your phone or fob being in just slightly too close proximity to your car when in your house and the car auto-disables passive unlock for a period of time so your car isn’t just sitting there unlocked for anybody to go hop into.
 
I use the fob exclusively, pushing the door handle to get in and to lock the car. Passive lock/unlock is turned off, range is too short to be worthwhile. First set of batteries lasted 4 months, current batteries have been in the fobs for 14 months. Car keeps telling me to change the battery but I'm waiting it out.
 
Also I got into the car today, there was literally no sound, no turn signals, no music, just totally dead audio. Took an infotainment reboot which seemed to take an eternity of holding down the reset button. Except there’s one caveat….that was my wife’s 2024 Volvo V60 Polestar PHEV. I was just moving her car out of the driveway. Then I got into the Lucid and drove to store without any software hiccups.

Same here with our Volvo. Sometimes it reboots spontaneously when I enter. Even without the reboot, it can take several minutes for Google Maps to start working.

Lucid's software may not be perfect, but it's ready to go when I enter the car. Though this could be because I sometimes give it 15 seconds' warning while trying to unlock the door :) .

Yeah, no issues at all. And that's just the latest update! Gosh, the forum is full of happy people!

They definitely don't have battery issues either.

No growing pains whatsoever.

I'm not dumping on Rivian. I like Rivian; I think they make great cars. My point is that saying they've had no growing pains is an absurd statement, as evidenced by their very forums similar to this one. Now, you and I are both well aware that forums amplify the negative, not the positive, so forming any judgment based on that would be wrong, but hey - people do that here all the time.

The grass is always greener, until you're on the grass and realize it's actually turf. :)
 
Go look at Reddit Rivian forums, you will see their owners have issues as well. It’s nit all rosy their either.

Software and tech “totally” unreliable? This statement itself shows the over exaggeration. Totally means all the time, every time. Wonder how he even gets in the car? You should be realistic, not over the top.
