Constant issues with Lucid SW

I feel you OP and I agree with you on a lot of what you said. I don't think you have an unpopular opinion, the UI and SW are indeed subpar. I'm also a new owner and I've already made posts like this. When you ask for help with mobile key and people say "use a FOB like your grandpa did", that is them agreeing with you.

But you have to remember where you are, and your posts come off more like a rant that people aren't going to be able to rally around. Nor can anyone really do anything about it other than hope right along with you and try to determine user error.

What did they change with Gravity?

Thanks for understanding my frustration as a new owner. I came here to understand if this is only my car’s issues or it’s a common issue but what’s more frustrating is to find out that our other fellow owners in this group are ok with state of things with their cars.
But it’s what it’s, I guess…

Maybe it’s laggy but it works…
Mine works fine. Would I like the ability to run different apps on different screens? Yes, but the software is certainly not a "sky is falling" moment for me. Trust me, I do call Lucid out for BS but the software as of late has been very stable for me with very few hiccups. Before you pile on and say "you're just accepting the hiccups" these hiccups are nothing different than what I have experienced in other cars.

I use the Lucid UX 100% of the time from TuneIn, TiDAL, SiriusXM, Navigation, Drive Assist and all have been solid performers for quite some time now.

Odd one out here but I have almost no problems with the UI, UX, vehicle, or build quality of my cars. I’m knocking on wood here but having to close one app to open another isn’t a bother to me, it doesn’t take 5 seconds to reload car play after I listen to tidal for my Dolby Tracks for 30 mins.

Maybe I’m just more agreeable then most but I have spent a lot of time in my vehicles, and cannot relate to OP’s hatred.

I agree certain things can be made “faster” but these are all cursory things that don’t ultimately affect the outcome of my amazing time driving the vehicle.

I think OP needs someone local to help walk him through his vehicle. Perhaps the OP came from another car platform and is just making a few “rookie” lucid mistakes.

Idk, would someone be in a position to help OP irl?

His comment on Kia “maybe it’s laggy but it works” doesn’t give me much hope tho. Since that’s pretty much the comment he had on his lucid, but he hasn’t give it the same deference.

Some people also have the habit of rubbing their purported happiness in your unhappy face by being sarcastic or serving the "you have no idea how good you have it" dish, which might help them but it's absolutely useless to someone new to Lucid.

Then what is the point of adjustable steering wheel if I can’t adjust it to position I’m comfortable with??? Then just fix it to a position and be done with it. I understand they can’t change the dashboard position anymore but they could rearrange the display so it wouldn’t look like this.
Don’t get me started with the SW and UI? Why can’t I have CarPlay on glass cockpit and radio screen on pilot panel at the same time? Why can’t I pin the radio screen I like to pilot screen? Every time I have to go through different screens to get to my favorite channels. What were these people doing in the I don’t know how many years of making Lucids?
There is always a solution. Test drive car and see if it fits your position of comfortable driving and visibility of traffic from inside. I agree if your complain is software because that cannot* be something that can fully experienced in a test drive.

I agree, it’s a fine line, but shouting into the forum and not give particularized comments doesn’t allow someone to “debug” from afar. I honestly don’t know OP’s exact problems even after looking at the post and thread.

I think we all wanna help a fellow owner, and have them love their car as much as us. And if that passion gets in the way of just being a sounding board for comments then I am sorry.

Totally feel you @marsarbu, (practically) every morning I'd pull out of my garage, SXM would have trouble connecting with or without wifi connection. But I agree about the UI experience. I counted, it's 7 clicks/touches/taps every time I got in to get to my favorites and chose a station. Horrible workflow.

Still haven't heard back from Lucid about my LHCS or the VIN pulling wrong data...I thought these problems were getting better but looks like it's sliding backwards

I learned to love my AGT as it is, I got used to its quirks and issues. I went through all the 5 steps of grief/rage and overall, I still like it more than I dislike it, and in the end that's what matters. Also there are quite a few owners here that are very helpful, and generally have alternative solutions to various problems.

sorry meant to tag the OP. That's a great perspective, wish I crossed more people like you in my SaaS sales! lol

...I was just wondering why the UI and SW is in this type of mess. And honestly, I think it was mainly because nobody really complained....
People have been complaining about the Air's UX nonstop for three years, loudly. Lucid has been working on a complete rewrite for at least that amount of time. The result is UX3, which has just started shipping in the Gravity. A version of UX3 will be back-ported to the Air.

I don’t think anyone disagrees with your statement but the question is when? V2H charging was “supposed” to be released over a year ago

I find the Lucid user interface and software adequate. Fast enough , and very intuitive. I say this coming from two (back to back) Teslas, arguably the best out there for such things. Can it be better? Absolutely. Things like separating pilot screen and main screen displays independently, must be done (they are doing it with the Gravity). Do I want the mobile key to work 100% of the time with my phone in the pocket? You bet! Like Tesla. However, I don’t mind keeping the key fob in the pocket, which works much better. And yes, I still use physical keys for the house, so I am carrying a key chain anyways with me, with or without the car key fob. Besides, I am unaware of another car with phone key only, and no key fob out there, besides Tesla, but maybe I don’t know much 🤔

If not two years ago. I think Lucid greatly over-promised here. AFAIK there are no AC-V2H bidirectional charging system (EVSE) like Lucid is planning that is currently shipping from any manufacturer. There are some DC-V2H bidirectional systems, a competing approach. Finalizing regulations may have delayed everyone on that particular technology.

Of course, that has nothing to do with back-porting the new UX, nor implementing Android Auto, or many other smaller software things that seemed to take an inordinate amount of time to fix. I assume this is due to resource allocation / constraints, don't know. Wish it was different.

No, I was just wondering why the UI and SW is in this type of mess. And honestly, I think it was mainly because nobody really complained. Everybody has just found a workaround (like carrying the fob and have an extra pack of battery 🤷🏻‍♂️🤷🏻‍♂️ in the car) or moving the steering wheel all the way up and moving the seat all the way down…
Kia EVs for a third of price have a more stable UI.
Its not a mess, cool down....don't get all clustered about minor things. Enjoy driving the car, all these other " issues " are minor.

Their slogan is literally “compromise nothing”

What you guys keep attributing as being terrible software for Lucid seems to be more specific issues related mostly to Sirius XM implementation? The car is a lot more than satellite radio… reminds me of how everyone lost their mind when Lucid abandoned Alexa support (Amazon lost contracts with most auto suppliers due to industry shift, but yes I also know Lucid voice assistant IS in fact quite bad, definitely room for improvement there!). Nearly all things you need to do such as climate, navigation, openings, steering wheel adjustments, mirror folds, trip computer etc are one click deep. So the UI does not suck, it’s Sirius. I also have complaints about Tidal app UI, but once you use Tidal in CarPlay or in another car like our Volvo, you’ll realize this is the fault of Tidal and not the auto manufacturer.
