Chargepoint Home Flex unit issues maybe solved

Here is an update since I last wrote about the issue of my ChargePoint Homeflex charger tripping after each use. My charger now works perfectly. I go out of my way to try to get it to trip, and I can't. I can wake up the car with the FOB, or with the Lucid app to start the charging session. I can open up the app during the charging session, and the charger works perfectly. It seems like something has changed (software?) as I no longer experience the issue of the charger tripping at the end of the charging session.

As an aside, and out of the blue, ChargePoint sent me a new charger, presumably because I had earlier informed them that I was experiencing a tripping problem. I did not change my unit out (if it ain't broke, don't fix it!), and I returned the new unit to ChargePoint.

My Chargepoint has also fixed itself but not sure how it was done. When I originally posted this thread, I was having the problem and a couple weeks go by and charger has been fine ever since. I am hopeful that Lucid fixed the issue with an update but have no proof.

I am fully up to date on software but still have the tripping issue.

Still having issues with mine. Trips nearly every day.

I have been very successful lately using the cars onboard charging scheduler for my midnight charge. First, I wake up the car with either the fob or my phone and then plug in my HomeFlex long before Midnight and then let the car go back to sleep, I do not wake up the car again or I do not check via the app the charging status again until I get the message from the Lucid App or my ChargePoint app that my charging is complete or drawing zero power. When I go to unplug the red tripping light does not come on. However, several weeks ago I didn’t completely follow that process and I did trip the red light and had to flip the breaker to reset. btw, I have the latest software update.

Nice, this a good work around with multiple steps to follow. I wish LUCID works with ChargePoint to resolve and make it seamless experience for LUCID car owners with ChargePoint Home Flex.

Old thread but it seems I have the same issue. I do have a different Residential evGO charger (no longer made) for the past 6 years that I have had no issues with charging my Volt but yeah with Lucid it charges fine but once it hits the 80% mark it'll be red. Resetting the EVSE, fixes the issue until the next time.

Going to get the Lucid charger and hopefully this goes away.

Right, you shouldn't have a similar issue with Lucid's charger.

I’m sure you did your research but don’t forget the Lucid charger is not a direct replacement for your existing charger. An electrical upgrade will be needed since it uses more power.

This isn't correct. You can set Lucid's charger to operate as low as 6 amps (1.4kW), up to 80 amps (19.2kW).

My apologies, you are correct about the settings of the station. How will the Lucid station ever work when it has the option to back feed your home at a power outage and not have the wire gage to support the amperage. 30 - 40 amps will not do a lot of good (fridge, sump pump, lights) when it has so much more capacity. Yes, I know that it is made for this car and better than the chargepoints, etc. but it is also twice the price for something not totally needed right now that doesn't supply house IMHO. My being a retired electrician just gives me a different way of thinking about these things. Just my 2 cents.

For one more datapoint - my Chargepoint Home Flex was tripping every single charge, and then Lucid took my car back and replaced the high voltage battery + onboard charger, and since then it hasn't tripped once. So the fault in some cases may be related to a battery or onboard charger issue for the car.

Looks like I spoke too soon, after a few days of it behaving it went back to flipping the red light on the charger basically every charging session. I have a mobile service person coming out to look at it and I'll report back if I learn anything else.

This is an issue with Chargepoint, and it still hasn't been resolved after 2 years.

Mine seemed to have stopped. I did set the charge schedule on the lucid.

There may be issues with ChargePoint but I have no issues charging our EQS or Hummer. The workaround that I use for the Lucid is to make sure that the car is awake and ready to charge before plugging in the ChargePoint cable.

I have no problems with chargepoint charging my Lucid and my sons Bolt. The app and charging works perfect.

I do not schedule anything though.

Switched from Chargepoint to Lucid charger. 80% of the time Chargepoint would trip (red ring), hasn't happened once with the Lucid Charger.

It also depends on the specific charger. Some replacements have fixed it, others do the same thing.

The ChargePoint works fine using scheduled charging on other vehicles. We use it nightly on our Leaf and have had ZERO problems. I have used it on the Lucid, but have to deactivate the ChargePoint scheduled charging. We use the Lucid home charger for the Lucid without issues.
