Ordering and Delivery: Lucid Air Touring

For anyone trying to figure out loan amounts, this might be helpful and I’ve not seen it before.

In CA, with a 7.75% sales tax plus all of the fees, my pre-price hike total invoice comes to $122,420.44. This is with a standard color (black), metal roof, platinum trim, DDP, and SSP. If it was after the price increase but with the same features, it’s $15K more plus tax, for a total of $138,582.94.

The article states Lucid will offer DDP and SSP as a trial for 90-Days which an option to purchase which would make sense why some of us have already received VINs. This would mean all cars are built the same but features are disabled through software. While the article is about the GT, I would have to imagine at least for right now the same will be for the Touring.
Very cool. I would want to see how DDP matures before paying. Else, maybe they'll sell DDP features a la carte - I'd pay for the surround view if it helps with parking, but I don't do enough long trips to want Highway Assist etc.

Received my VIN this morning which is exactly a week after it went into Production. Interestingly along with the fact that they are now offering GTs without DDP or SSP, Lucid appears to have put out a statement confirming what some of us have wanted. https://insideevs.com/news/627491/lucid-lowers-air-grand-touring-starting-msrp-138000-usd/

This is the part that strikes me as weird. Given the current state of DDP, I would not expect a free trial to convince a lot of people to upgrade. A few years from now, when Traffic Jam Assist is done, sure. But right now, it doesn’t offer much. They may have to give an additional trial just after TJA is released. Or, as some have suggested, offer a lower priced upgrade that just does the 360 camera and lane change video views in the center screen.

SSP is also a strange upgrade. I have to think the average person won’t hear much of a difference. At least not a $4k difference. For me, this was an essential upgrade. For most, not so much.

But if this is primarily a way to get those extra GTs off the lot asap, and to save costs in production, I guess a win is a win.

Yep. At $10k their nebulous promise of nothing in particular is not worth it. In three years? Maybe the promise will come to fruition…or more likely, we’ll learn that the hardware isn’t good enough to support what will then be the state of the art.

Agreed. According to what I heard - DDP is a hardware specific feature - if you don't order DDP the car isn't manufactured with LiDAR. So it'd have to be added in arrears. Since the production line would have to be changed in order to build cars with only DD that would slow things significantly. I'm not certain what the overall cost of LiDAR is - but it's probably around $1k or more per vehicle.

But now, maybe they aren't bothering with the production line changes for any of the trims. I'd read $1900 as the LIDAR hardware cost elsewhere on the forum, I think.

Has anyone taken delivery of a non-DDP or non-SSP car yet?

The furthest anyone has been with a non-SSP or non-DDP car at this point is vin assignment.

Well if that was the issue - they could have thrown the 20" on get it to me by EOY and I could use $7500 to get snows. I'll have to check again - thanks for insight.
I know goose island got a bunch of them in bc I was about to buy one as a replacement for one that had some curb rash. I decided to just get it repaired. The service guy said a lot of ppl were buyin 19” sets for the winter

I disagree, they need to bundle everything together- either you get it all or you dont. Why leave money on the table by just offering surround camera and lane change seperately. Lucid is a new startup, needs all the money it can get. Every other car company lumps useless things with useful things to jack up the price of options. Lucid should do the same.

I’d argue they’re leaving money on the table by bundling the 360 view in DDP. If I can buy that separately I may do so, but $9k or $10k for all of DDP is a no go.

You make a good point. I actually wanted just the surround cameras so paid for dream drive pro.

I just got back to the states and no confirmation or anything from my DA (Omar). However, I called him and inquired about the car status. He indicated that the car is built and will leave from factory to Chicago in next 48 hours. He said that EOY delivery is dependent on how fast I can straighten out my financing.
He would need the financial institution (lien holder) and the amount being financed in order initiate the PA.
Do you guys know how you guys initiated the down payment or the fastest course of action for next steps would be because he said Lucid financing would typically take 10-11 days ..

I have no idea. First EV so I'm trying to figure it all out myself. Don't know what options there are to swap out to all season or winter tires for the 20s. Some people have mentioned the possibility of sensor recalibration if you change tires. Not sure how any of that works.
I'm awaiting a Touring delivery and ordered a set of all season Michelin's from Tire Rack for the 20" wheel (they arrived next day). Their website has a few winter/all season options for Lucid Touring. Once I get the car I'm scheduling their mobile install service to put them on at my house. Someone on the forums advised that you can use the existing TPMS sensors as they are attached to the wheel vs. the tire.

You could start with Lucid financial - they called me back within 24 hours. Also, perhaps apply at your bank and see who moves faster.

Please share what exact size you ordered. Touring comes with two different sizes of 20' wheels. 245/40R20 (front) and 265/40R20 (Rear).
