Rear Deck Creaking Noise

I am wondering if anyone is experiencing an annoying, rather loud, creaking noise coming from the rear "deck" behind the back seats (the area where the rear speakers are mounted). Each time the rear wheels go over a bump (especially when only one of the rear wheels hits a bump or drops into a dip in the road but not the other rear wheel....), that deck makes a very annoying creaking sound (as though the plastic is twisting and rubbing up against where is meets the back window). I have put the back seats down thinking the deck may be rubbing against the seats but that doesn't resolve the issue.
Any ideas of how to stop the noise would be welcomed. I've had two Model S's and an Audi S8 and none of them have had a cheap sounding rattle/creak like my Lucid has. My wife just got an EQS SUV and no cheap sounding rattle coming from it.

Yes, I have had that and isolated it to the trim being loose in the C pillar and inside roof. Service is scheduled to replace it next week. Alternatively it could be due to rear sunshade as well.

+1, but mine sounds like an electrical crackle from the passenger side rear speakers. I hope it's just a trim fit issue though, that would be less invasive to repair.

I have that. Hard to know where exactly it’s coming from. I’ll need to have someone drive me around!
I had someone sit in the back while we drove around. He could not identify what was causing it.

I believe mine is a fit/trim issue with truck lid. See the attached images of the Left Rear and Right Rear where the truck lid meets the rear quarter panel. The left rear clearly is not "fitting" well.

I also have this annoying sound. I’ve put it on my list for an upcoming service appointment.

I have exactly that in addition to other cheap creaking noises. Lucid is picking up my agt next week and keep it for a week for various repairs.

Things are getting worse…. Just noticed the rear window has hairline cracks in it on the right/passenger side. The entire trunk is clearly not sitting squarely on the back of the vehicle and the twisted orientation must be putting enough pressure on the rear window to actually crack it. I’d give the car a 2 (out of 10) for “fit and finish”…. Really disappointing first experience with Lucid

Oh, no. Just checked mine and no cracks. Id better drive through some decent bumps. However, the rubber gasket at the bottom of the window isnt snug against the window for half of the run along the bottom of the window. Its 1/16" gap and rain water can get through. In the similar location but inside of the trunk lid i have loose plastic trim and broken fasteners. I also have a 1/4" gap difference between the bottom of the trunk lid and bumper for the right side as compared to the left side. I got my atg 10/14/22 and its going in for repairs this week for all three issues.

Hmmm…I got mine 10/14/22 too and I have similar gapping in portions of the trim around the rear window as well. We must have had the same drunk line worker attaching our trunk lids and rear windows.

I do and I have tried to isolate it. I am so glad you wrote this, and others have responded. It initially thought it may be the rear window screen. It is quite pronounced over bumps and when Tidal isn’t playing it’s very very noticeable.

Oh man, I am so very sorry. I hope this gets fixed ASAP

Thanks! I will post updates as to how this progresses. I too thought it might be the screen but, after driving over the same road/bumps (with someone in the back seat trying to isolate it and having the screen both up and down), I have come to the conclusion it isn’t the screen. Now that the window cracked, I’m convinced the entire trunk lid is not properly installed. The gaps between the various panels on the right side vs the left are so noticeably different. The back end of the car was just improperly assembled.

Looking forward to hearing a resolution.

Thanks, intresting -- same date and likely fabricated within a few weeks of eachother. Now, i know what to expect, broken rear window next :).

Never seen that; wild! Sure hope it gets fixed quickly.

I have the exact same clink/creak when going over bumps. My local tech believes it is the parcel shelf. We’re getting another one ordered before he tries to take mine apart and repair it.

With that many people having a similar issue, sounds like a design issue. The one thing that drives me crazy faster than anything is random rattles/creaks/pops when driving. It's especially amplified in a quiet car.

I'm sure people have narrowed it down to the rear deck but I have noticed that sometimes I get a clinking sound from the metal latch of the passenger's seatbelt against the side pillar. There is a little notch it can rest in on the pillar that makes it quieter but it doesn't always set in there properly or stay there.

Just make sure that is not where it is coming from.
