Ordering and Delivery: Lucid Air Grand Touring

Just got my email from ”Joey” Petersen, my DA. My car has moved from “general assembly” to the “end of the line.” Zenith Red AGT with Santa Cruz interior and 19” rims. VIN to be assigned “within the next ten days,” and delivery planned for late September and early October.

I’m out of town at the moment but will answer DA’s questions in his email to me, upon getting home tomorrow.

I’m getting excited again!
Indeed! I was contemplating pulling the pin on my order and thinking about an EQS 580, but quite frankly the EQS or any other EV just didn't stir my car buying passion like the AGT has.

I am super optimistic for sure but as I mentioned, the only thing close to zenith red I want to see is Santa Claus delivering my QG GT....I certainly am more confident with the OTAs coming out and only a few (but some catastrophic) issues. The 12v battery and auto park issue is pretty serious but 4-6 weeks with a 150k car in service after total failure is crap. Once again...thanks to the forum personnel for letting us be part of your experience and plan for our own journey. I already plan to query borski on setting up my sound system and hydrobob on certain tweaks and procedures.
happy to help.

The mystery for me is that I received a call earlier in the week that my vehicle was going to be delivered in two weeks. But still no VIN or any sort of email confirmation from Lucid.

Also, what is this 'portal' that I see referenced in this forum? Or does that info come with the VIN email?

With your VIN should open up payment info, paperwork, etc.

Timeline update.
If this holds true for others, I feel it's a very positive moment on improved efficiency and logistics.

VIN assigned Aug 9th
Shipped from factory 17th
PDI complete 24th
Arrived for delivery. 31th
Home delivery Sept 3rd - (scheduled)

less than one month for the whole process is quite an improvement. Let's hope it holds up.

Your timeline, I think, holds the record in this forum from VIN assignment > Potential delivery date. Less than a month. (BTW what is the color?)

Congrats. And share pix. No pix. No car. :)

Just got my VIN! Yea!

Confirmation Date: March 17, 2022
Exterior/Interior Color: Quantum Grey / Santa Cruz
VIN: 50EA1GBA9NA005579 assigned today August 31

Communication from DA has been incredibly disappointing. No response to multiple emails over past 3 months. Oh well, at least I have a VIN.

Another one coming to Goose Island
Do we have a thread to rate SA and DA experiences?
I have been trying to get a definitive answer regarding if Lucid meets the $4500 State of IL EV rebate criteria. My DA, Eugene is in CA and referred me to my local SA. I spoke with my SA, AJ weeks ago and requested that he look into it and no follow up. I called the Oakbrook store yesterday. The Manager immediately referred me to my DA. I let her know he is in CA and had pointed me toward my SA. At that point she said she would follow up with her team and someone would get back to me.
One would think this kind of ask is an FAQ and they should have a list/spreadsheet for the rebates available/applicable in each state.

Ultimately, they will probably refer you to your CPA to confirm correct treatment. That would be my guess anyway.

IIRC the issue with IL was that their tax credit requires a state-issued dealer license ID and he needs it from Lucid, or confirmation that they do not have one.

Fair enough. Each state has different requirements, so I'll defer to others that have experience in IL. The TX EV rebate program already was capped this year and Lucid was not a qualifying vehicle for that program in any event...

Yes, thank you, this is exactly my ask to Lucid
If the DA and SA asks go without response I will wander over to Goose Island to see if anyone over there knows what is up
Good excuse to also see what the Tahoe interior looks like in person and take a picture of local inventory to share

That’s awesome. It’s amazing how the pre-delivery anxiety disappears at delivery.

According to the Illinois EPA (who runs the rebate) the rebate is only available if you purchase from a auto dealer who has a "dealer license issued by the Illinois Secretary of State" (in FAQ on Illinois EPA website). As of September 2021, Lucid did not have such a license (Lucid and Rivian are being sued by Illinois dealers for not having such a license). It is possible Lucid might have recently obtained a dealer license or could still get one - Tesla got a license by the simple trick of having Elon Musk apply for the dealer license.

Thanks Z, again I will let folks know what info I get back from the SA or at Goose Island

The stars have aligned - my DA, Ted (who has been great throughout whenever I had questions), just called a while ago with my VIN!
Paperwork processing is starting and he anticipates a delivery to Boston next week. (To be fair, I did ask to be put on the reallocation list a while back, so I'm sorry for whoever changed their mind but they made my day!)

Order date: 11 June 2022
Confirmation date: 12 June 2022
