Tire blow out

Bah! My front right tire just blew out after driving over a rough patch of road on my way home. On the phone with Lucid customer support, I remembered that I had the EZ Spare and a jack, but, alas, my electric jack is now too tall to fit under the car because of the loss of height clearance from the flat. Doh! Didn't take that into account...

Now waiting for a flat bed tow to my house so Lucid can come out at some point and replace my tire. Guess I need to look for a shorter jack too. Pobably going to have to go manual, unfortunately for my lazy self.

Between all the blow outs and sidewall bulges on these Pirellis shouldn’t there be some type of recall? How ridiculous does this have to get before Lucid changes to a different brand?

Pirelli has been pumping out this crap for years and manufacturers have been swallowing it. I suppose when someone gets seriously hurt (or worse) and there is a big lawsuit, Lucid will switch manufactures. They can’t claim that they didn’t know about these defective tires, so it will be hard to defend.

Having lived Pirelli hell, this is my only real hesitation about this car and I plan on changing my tires the first time I get a welt.

I have never know OEM tires to last very long, especially with the weight on the EVs. Has anyone worn down the tread yet? Case in point, my original tires on the Leaf lasted only 16k miles. Just replaced the tires I had put on after the originals and those lasted almost 50k miles.

I have never had a blowout in a Michelin tire. Last blowout was 45 yrs. ago with Uniroyal tires.

After my first blowout years ago, I’ve always tried to go on long trips with a full size spare in the trunk, which is quite a hassle and so much space consumed.

767 miles. I am fairly certain it wasn't a pothole I hit, but an irregularly paved part of the road, like a part that had been patched, but was unlevel with the rest of the road. I've driven this road multiple times since I got my Air and usually try to swerve around the unlevel areas, but I must not have been paying enough attention today.

35 aspect ratio tires and below are notorious for damage on bad roads. It's not exclusive to Pirelli.

I've driven this road multiple times since I got my Air and usually try to swerve around the unlevel areas, but I must not have been paying enough attention today.

They just repaved many of the streets around my house - maybe that is a sign my Lucid is arriving soon?
