Panel gaps.

I think it's where the seam is on the plastic mold?
Yeah, when washing the car several weeks ago, I thought it was a crack, but with it on both of them, I agree.

I posted about similar panel gaps a while back. The degree of misalignment around the bumper looks to be about the same. It seems like the quarter panel in the back wasn’t shaped quite correctly to flow into the trunk. Besides creating gaps, this has got to lower the range of the car by a mile or two. But is it worth taking the car apart to address? That’s not certain.

SO it's acceptable if it is on both mirrors? I would. expect a company building a high end luxury product, to be all over their supplier to fix it before going into production. Unless it is an in-house product, which would be even worse, if it was found to be o.k for production.
 
You think it’s just as easy to see these alignment issues on a black car as it is on a white car? Seems like an odd assertion to me.

Oh my white Tesla, I can spot them from 30 feet away.
It's not about whether I can see them from 20 feet away I can see it a 1 foot. The point is, I don't care what color the car is the panels should align. That's why I didn't buy a Tesla!

I agree, doesn't look like it's as simple as moving bumper forward.

I looked on mine, see pics. It's there but I didn't even notice until you pointed it out.

My neighbor spotted it. Mine is a lot worse than yours. I am #180. Maybe doing better with finishing the cars?

Yet another ‘flaw’ in my car I wouldn’t have ever noticed without the eagle eyes of this forum lol. I didn’t hear any complaints from my PPF guy when doing the install so I suppose that little ridge wasn’t too hard to deal with.

I am totally puzzled by this line. Both Mirrors have it. No Idea why this is here. Have never seen it before and probably will not see it ever again unless I buy another Lucid (which I am)

I posted the Panel Gaps on my QG Trunk the other day in one of the threads along with Comparison to a white that did not have that large of a gap. My DA did try to underplay it saying everyone has a different opinion so IF YOU FEEL it is bad then call service. I did and they did not seem to have logged my call.

When you called did they schedule you a service visit and they had no records or it?

No matter how we spin it the quality/build of the mirrors is cheap same goes for those buttons for fan etc. I would never perceive them to be classy or high quality. Going for a drive again to get over feeling bad about this stuff 😂😂😂🤦‍♂️

I use the same remedy when I get the "WTF is this" bug.
 
So I had a lower rocker panel trim piece snap today when opening my rear door as it collided with my front door. It has been fine and the door gap is the same. However, I took a closer look at all the trim down on the lower rocker from front to back and noticed alot.

1) Seems like most of the applique trim is all adhered with VHB tape and no locator pins / doghouses for tolerances. So my car was in the sun for about 5 hours today in 103 degrees and the VHB must of heated up and shifted the trim piece, along with the gap tolerances already being really tight.

2) The metallic trim on the front rocker panel and the rear bumper are really loose. When pushing on one end or the other the whole piece toggles front to back.

3) Right behind the front wheel, there are 4 pieces of trim that come together. Well further examining, I can fit my entire figher into the underside of my door and then continue to run in along my door towards the back of the car. This is not as prevalent on passenger side but still there. This could be a concern for those in wet climates or when winter arrives because there is a large cavity for water/salt/debris to build up in.

Has anyone seen any of these issues? If not might be worth a check as they are not something you see normally, until a piece breaks off like mine atleast.

Other than that the majority of my gaps are fine. No rubbing or clashing. Just your standard small misalignments you'll have with any car. This one just seems to have an abnormal amount of trim layers that when things don't line up it stacks up quickly.

Where would this be acceptable.
 
A dark object exposed to the Sun can easily reach 140+ F.
So we've now established that temp can go to the extremes.
Curious how the adhesives hold up when exposed to these environments..
Along the same line, I believe the Air design was done in Calif, and haven't come across info re. where Lucid's field tested the car.
I recall seeing in car's magazines ads about other cars tested in Sahara deserts and exotic places. etc.
