Tire/Wheel Discussion

Great insight, thanks. I saw a lot of options at Costco and Tire Rack for the 20/21 setup. You’re saying none of those would work in a real world setup?
If you were looking at tire options with stock Gravity 20/21 they all should fit fine. As far as wheels, things get complicated in a hurry between sizing, offsets and weight bearing capacity.

Ah ok. Yes, just tire options. I would do a complete swap to the 20/21 setup.

I can guarantee that, at least last year, there were wheel options that absolutely didn’t fit the rear. Tire rack / discount tire

They took all those off after realizing Lucid cheated with a rear 21” wheel and gave it 22” barrel clearance partially.

Reviving an old thread, I am debating downsizing from my 22/23 setup to the 20/21 for a couple reasons. Slightly more range, quieter and smoother ride, and also SIGNIFICANTLY cheaper replacement costs. Anyone else done this? I love the look of the largest setup, but not enough to shell out $3k more for tires.
I've never been into tires and picked 22/23 at ordering time just because it looked cool 🤦‍♂️and I haven't considered consequences of efficiency loss and replacement cost.
Here I am a year later with threadbare worn down tires at just 19k miles and facing $3.5k replacement bill.
Glancing over this discussion it doesn't look like there is a good solution, so suck it up and pay the piper?

You can get custom 22s and pick whatever tire you want.

Attaching one easy off the shelf example, can be found by looking 2015 Comaro SS as vehicle.

All I will need is proper center rings, otherwise a good direct light weight fit for a 2100lb capacity wheel.

thanks, but I'm a total idiot when it comes to this stuff and need to rely on my local tire shop to be able to do it.
Soulds like a $2300 one time ticket for wheels and then cheper and wider selection for tires as long as I own the car?
What would be a good brand tire set that would fit these rims? I live in dry warm climate, no ice, or snow, so typical all year tires.

The only thing close I've found that will fit both the front and rear wheels of the 22/23" option is the Pirelli Scorpion Zero All Season. Not a true winter tire, of course.
Do you happen to have the link to these tires you're referring to?

I currently have the 22/23 summer tires, which came with the vehicle. Due to where I live, I will most likely need a winter package from Lucid- a cheaper option or the more expensive 20/21 all-season option.

The best all season tires are Michelin All Season 4 and Continental DWS06+ and plenty of them in 22” size.

Aim for 265/40/22 and 285/40/22 and take your pick and read some reviews on TireRack.

So the front stays the same 265/40/22 as my OEM, only rear drops from 285/35/23 to 285/40/22 ?
But I'd have to swap all 4 rims so they look the same, even though front are the same size?

If you want to stay summer only, you could take the current front tire with you and just buy the rear, that’s up to you.

I just spoke to America's Tire which has a shop near me and they created a whole order for me, smaller rims and tires with installation, all in for $2600
Drag DR-77 wheels 19" front 20" rear, Yokohama Geolandar X-CV all seasons. They guaranteed everything will fit or I get my money back. Load bearing all checked out in their system.
I hope the car will look OK with these smaller wheels, larger walls compensate for smaller rims.
I'll post pictures after install on Nov 2nd.
Thanks for your help!

Can you do a video of their fail please? Would be the ultimate expression of throwing known data and fail anyway. I can guarantee you 20” won’t fit the rear oh and 21” will hit the barrel too.

But…it would be amusing to watch assuming they pay for whatever damage they do.

I guess I would be curious if 19” clears the front, it seems Lucid went out of their way to fit the smallest wheel and tire as is.

The load on the Drag wheel is completely insufficient. Gravity manual lists a 2100/2200lb maximum load front to back. You would be fine with 2100 all around if you aren’t towing while full of people and luggage but under 2k is asking for trouble.

Whoever you spoke with has no idea what they are dealing with and the tire is not one I would put on a 6000lb missile.

I could be just performance biased, of course.

I appreciate all your feedback, like I said I was an idiot when it comes to tires (and bought a Gravity too), so I trusted the salesman on the phone and made a rash decision.
I will go to the shop tomorrow and have them revise or cancel the order and see if they can look at the car and maybe take some measurements to see what fits.
Whatever happens, I'll post pics, unless of course I end up with same set of $3400 summer Pirellis that'll last another year. If so, it'll be the last year I own this car. There is a limit to how much crap I can take from a car company.

Saved my best advice for last…

Go to TireRack and find Goodyear Eagle F1 Assymetric 6 tire, size 275/40/22 and 295/35/23. I have them on my backup summer set.

Amazing performance and cheaper than PZ5.

This is exactly what I am trying to avoid. They look great but when I priced tires I was shocked.

Here's the link -- but have your heart pills handy. The rears are $1,360.91 each.

Thanks will these work?

When I asked my lucid service team about what tires I would need to get they said it needed to be

Front: 265/40R22
Rear: 285/35R23

Load Index 109 front
Load Index 110 rear
Speed Rating Y
HL (High Load)

The load index for the Perrili all season you linked is not matching. Am I missing something?

The price is not bad considering I won't have to swap out the tires during the changes of season.
