Has anyone charged their phone successfully from Gravity's console USB-C outlets?

Both of my Gravity's outlets will charge my Pixel 10 Pro XL phone very briefly on plugging in, at up to maybe eight watts for less than a second, then they shut off. Power comes back on again, briefly, when the cable is unplugged and replugged. My guess is this is a USB firmware issue. The phone can fast charge at up to 45 watts. Maybe draw is this is shutting down Gravity's USB-C port.

Wireless charging only provides about two watts on average to my phone, not enough to operate it while using Android Auto. I don't use a phone case.

Has anyone had a better charging experience with a Pixel 10 Pro or 10 Pro XL in Gravity?
I'm at a bit of a loss as to how to use my phone for Android Auto for the time being, since Gravity has no 12V power outlet in the console to fall back on.

I use mine every day (I like the faster charging). Cannot speak to a Pixel, but at least for my iPhone and my Pura air freshener it has never failed.

The front two ports are 100W. The second and third row ports are 45W. You shouldn’t be having any issues, and I bet it needs service.

If you want, I can swing by and we can test it though.
 
I've charged both my iPad Pro and Apple Vision Pro from the front USB ports just fine. I just use the wireless pad for my iPhone.
 
Odd thing - after trying to charge from the front console port five or six times on 3.4.5 and the same number of times on 3.5.1, on plugging in a last time my phone popped up a window about allowing calls and messages. I said OK, and then a wired Android Auto window popped up, then disappeared as the USB shut off again. Unplugged and replugged once more, and the phone started charging normally and the wired Android window stayed up.

So I either have some intermittent fault in the console USB, or maybe a USB negotiation bug.
The USB ports on the back of the front seats charge my phone fine.

Not dumb at all! Two phones, two cables, and both console USB ports.

That definitely sounds like something wrong with the USB ports in the console. I sat in the car and powered my Vision Pro from the USB port for well over an hour recently sitting in in the car waiting for my wife who was at an appointment. I plugged it in because I hadn't realized it was down to about 15%, not only did it keep the AVP running that whole time it also charged the battery up so it had to have been pulling it's max of 65W or close to it.
 
I use this cable:

... to charge my Microsoft Surface Pro from the Gravity's 100 watt USB-C ports. I noticed today that I can charge from either port, but if I try to charge my phone on one port and the Surface tablet on the other it quits charging. Not sure if it's supposed to be like that.

That said, I really like this feature. In my truck I had to plug in using its AC outlet and the power brick for the Surface. DC->AC->DC current.

Many multi-port USB devices have great Power Delivery (PD) specs when only one port is in use. Often, when using a second port, the second port will lose its PD capabilities and revert to 5V/2A or 5V/3A only. Sometimes, using a second port also will cause the first port to lose its PD capabilities and both will drop back to 5V/2A or 5V/3A only. Gravity's USB-PD behavior when more than one port is in use isn't explicitly specified.

An inexpensive USB-C V/A/W meter can be helpful to understand what's going on.
 
I've had no problem charging my iPhone & iPad Pro via the GGT center console, but only one at a time b/c I also have a stick full of music files jacked in there. The thing cantilevering out into the storage area made me nervous so I stuck a $3 / 90 degree adapter in, so it hugs the wall. Works great, less filling.

I have the feeling that these things get the most test time with iPhones. Testing with half a dozen different common Android devices may come later.

I've worked a bit in app development. Typically you start executing your mobile project in iOS since it is a less complex environment with one entity controlling both H/W & S/W. Only when that process is complete you then start porting to Android, where you have a dizzying array of hardware vendors and a looser level of rigor in QA for the S/W.
 
Looking back at what I experienced, I think the issue was the result of some kind of negotiation related to Android Auto. Once I accepted operation of Android Auto through USB, the phone started charging as you'd expect.

I'll certainly pay attention on future drives - left a USB-C power meter on the cable.

I have the exact same issue with my Gravity and Pixel 10 Pro. After a half a dozen plugging and unplugging (with USB-C power meter, it finally seems to start charging. But it is very inconsistent. I've had service look at it, they say all is normal. I've tried multiple cables. It's annoying. I have an adapter plugged into the rear seat outlet just to charge my phone. It appears very specific to the Pixel 10.

Thanks for posting, that's sort of what I was expecting. My pixel 10 charges maybe one time out of ten tries, or less. But the USB ports on the backs of the front seats (100 watt) charge it without an issue.

I'll ask my neighbor if I can try to charge his iPhone to verify that my console is "working as designed". I'll be looking to a Pixel 11, or in the future a more mainstream vehicle, to fix it. It's the only glitch we've had with our Gravity.
 
I have charged my Samsung Galaxy S25 from the console USB port. Seems to work okay, but I don't know what wattage it's drawing. I have a cable to charge my Microsoft Surface, as well, and can confirm that the 100 watts appears to be for the two USB ports combined. Can't charge the phone at the same time or the Surface will stop.

I'll have to try the USB ports on the backs of the front seats. If they work reliably then it's better than my AC outlet, as it seems to come and go too.

I haven't had any problems with the USB ports on the back of the front seats, other than reaching them to plug in a cable while driving :)

I checked the console USB-C with my neighbor's iPhone, and it charged just fine. I think the Pixel 10 has a unforgiving USB-PD negotiation, and I'm blaming the phone rather than the car.
On the bright side, this means I've officially had zero problems with my Gravity since new :)
