Lucid Gravity UX 3.6 is here!

I think there is a misunderstanding of high regen regarding efficiency. High regen for a stop in which the disk brakes are not used is definitely less efficient than low regen. The only times high regen is more efficient is when you want to stop so quickly that on low regen the disk brakes would have to engage.

Higher regen in efficiency terms has the same effect as stomping on the accelerator except the current is in the opposite direction, higher currents causing greater resistive losses, greater torques, greater loads, greater friction, all heat generators. In no case does regeneration cause these losses to become gains.

The highest efficiency would be like hyper-milers do in 1st generation EVs where they accelerate slowly and try to coast to a stop which pisses off everyone behind them off.

A true 'no compromise' system would be closer to my 2014 Chevy Spark that modulates the regen with the brake pedal until you press too far and it then starts mixing in disk brakes.

Hang on hang on... Because this is my first EV and I'm a newbie. If I understand this correctly, you are saying if I am traveling at 30mph and slow to a complete stop, not using any friction brakes, that slow reg will add more charge back to my battery than high regen?
I've seen this idea floated around a few times but never saw anyone with some data to show it. My brother was also EV newbie and so far he's tried ~1000 miles no regen vs ~1000 miles high regen on a daily commute 50mph expressway for 40 min each weekday and seeing no regen get < 2 mi/kwh while now getting 3.5 mi/kwh on high regen. I'll see if he wants to try out low regen for a month and see how it is.

Damn, I rarely see 3.0 on mine. It's always between 2.5 to 2.7 but haven't noticed any difference since the last update. It's stayed around the same
That's about where I was before last month but I've been purposely driving a bit slower and only using DDP on the freeway to see about where the efficiency lands. I'm going to be doing a very long road trip and this was just an experiment in preparation for that to see how efficient it could actually be as there are going to be a couple areas I pass through where chargers are few and far between. I was just surprised that it dropped so noticeably right after the update. I also noticed that enabling pre-conditioning seems to take a much bigger hit on the dynamic efficiency than before.

Not put more charge back into the battery but you'll travel further on what you've taken out. Overall more efficient but likely not enough to measure.

Simply because I roll more?

I guess thats why I previously asked how efficiency is calculated with regen. There's distance travel but also energy recouped. I think. But I'm sure more knowledgeable people here can shed more light on this. My efficiency is piss poor, I drive the snot out of my Gravity.

Charges again last night. Held 19kW for about 45 minutes then throttled down to 11kW. I’ll update my charger firmware tonight and test again, but I’m doubtful it’ll do anything.

I hate having to wait for Lucid service…but I want my sustained 80A! Spent a lot of money to install the charger.

Great question, sure to be argued, but slow regen will generate slightly less losses. Since the energy of the cars change in momentum must equal the energy to the battery + the losses, the lower the losses the higher charge.

My dream drive says disabled every time I start the car after 3.6. Is there something I'm supposed to do to get it working again?
It pays to read the release notes:
"Note: The sensors and cameras that power Drive Assist need to be calibrated the first time you use it. To calibrate the sensors, drive for at least 30 minutes on straight highways with at least one lane on either side of your vehicle, ideally with clear road markings. Once Drive Assist is ready, a steering icon will appear next to the speedometer on the Clearview Cockpit when DreamDrive is enabled. See your Owner’s Manual for more details."

You know, I think I just realized ride height is finally adaptive based on driving conditions. I've never seen the car make ride height adjustments automatically, but for the first time today I saw it move from standard to low back to standard on its own based on speed.

Mine has done this since I picked it up? 🤔

If you hit the button on the pilot screen for ride height there's an Auto setting on the bottom that's a toggle.

I've been driving on 3 lane and 2 lane highways for so long. Two 140 mile round trip drives for a 560 miles. There's been at least 30+ min stretches of three lane highways each leg and still calibration has not been successful. This is driving me nuts because I don't even have the old drive assist functionality anymore until this calibration is done.

Anyone else having trouble or can provide some insight? This is ridiculous.

More precisely, a lower deceleration rate (low regen) will add more charge back to the battery than a high deceleration rate (high regen). This is not about the actual car regen setting (low, med, high), but about your actual deceleration rate.

It’s the same principle as low vs high acceleration to get to a desired speed. Going from 0 mph to 60 mph in 10 seconds will be more efficient than going from 0 mph to 60 mph in 3.5 seconds.

The reason for this is that higher acceleration/deceleration has higher energy loss than lower acceleration/deceleration (as waste heat).

You can set the car to high regen mode and still decelerate very slowly through good accelerator control for maximum efficiency. Coasting to a stop with zero regen is the best you can do. Using brakes is the worst you can do. Setting the regen mode to low but using the brakes to stop is far worse than using high regen.

Time to contact Lucid and to have them look at the car.

I finally did actually. They were very nice and they're going to schedule a SC visit. I'll use the opportunity to get my second row seat and the wiper washer sprayer checked out too. They did tell me I got the rear seat recall done before delivery so I'm not sure why my seat doesn't work. The seat moves forward and back but gets stuck when the button to get into the third row seat is pressed.

I am having issues with driving awareness not detecting my face since 3.6.
i don’t THINK it’s a matter of giving the car time to calibrate sensors, because I tried to disable the monitoring system, park, come back say like 20 mins or so. Then start driving and tried turning on the driver monitoring system. Now the hands free works fine but only < 5 minutes. Then it turns off and kicks out from hands free!!! All this while on a 4 lane highway. Remains off till I come home and park. Have driven on 4 lane i95 for over 2 hours during the day over the past 2 days.

Things I’ve tried:
Wiping the camera
Adjusting my seat to make sure the camera sees my face (it never had issues before, but thought it was worth a try). Can't do any better than stick my face on the sensor.
Reboots (3 times so far)
Letting the car enter deep sleep and returning after overnight.

Everyday after few mins of driving the Driving Awareness turned off and remained. Turning on and off didn't work.

Any thoughts or anyone see the same? Only had the gravity touring for 3 weeks now.

Any thoughts please? Had no driver monitoring system issues before the 3.6 update.

I'm having the same issue. At first I thought it was my sunglasses, but it is the same without them. Annoying. Didn't happen before 3.6

Quite a few people, I believe it’s a known bug introduced with 3.6
