Lucid Gravity UX 3.6 is here!

You have a GT, not DE, right?

I had mobile service debug my charging issue and he explained that GT's indeed have different AC charging than DE which is why I saw the delta between my cars.

Was your Charge Limit set to 100%? The magic number is 60% of your Charge Limit, where it will calibrate and lower charging to not cause problems. This matched what I observed, usually I have my Charge Limit set to 85% so I saw a drop around 50% SOC (60% of 85), and when the mobile service came he raised it to 100% and then we saw it drop at around 59-60%.
Charge limit was set to 90%.

I'll play around with it more and report back. The shocking part today was 85+ amps. Prior to this, it only ever pull 80A

My dream drive says disabled every time I start the car after 3.6. Is there something I'm supposed to do to get it working again?

Has anyone noticed a fairly drastic drop in dynamic efficiency since the update?
I've been doing a lot of freeway driving with DD Pro enabled and my efficiency was running around 2.95-3.00. Once I installed 3.6.0 it dropped to 2.68-2.72 for much of the same driving, only with hands free enabled now.
Damn, I rarely see 3.0 on mine. It's always between 2.5 to 2.7 but haven't noticed any difference since the last update. It's stayed around the same

I have seen an increase. I am at 3.5 to 3.6 since the update. Was 3.2 to 3.3 before.

DE stayed the same - 2.7, GT increased a bit, 3.12. But both are significantly higher in the Trip Info section. DE 3.28 GT 3.8

Oh you got even 2 gravity ;) which one is better DE or GT ? is the GT also fully loaded like the DE?
And why 2 different models? ;)

Mine is lower too. The update do mention it was tuning the efficiency readings. Maybe ours were overestimating efficiency?

Can you explain this a bit more? Getting my gravity soon. Can you advise what I need to set what to in the app or car to achieve the 80 amps? Thanks a lot.

I will say that my handles present from further away (which the flip side is that it takes longer to lock) and has worked consistently since the update

My dream drive still won't calibrate even after highway driving for 40 minutes (20 each way) yesterday but I do have the drive system warning so might be that and I will ask about it on Monday at service

It does 80A but it seems people are having varying success of how long it holds 80A. Yesterday mine held 85A from 18% to 60% the charged at 55A the remainder to 90%.

I think usually it holds 80 to 69-70% before dropping down. Maybe there was a change in the charging curve after the update.

I still stand in the corner that the slight reduction in efficient comes from the brake regen curve change.

Not that it really matters but I don't look at efficiency, or range on my cluster, just strictly % charge. I can tell my commute is using ever so slightly more percentage of my battery everyday.

I drive strictly surface streets to work, so there is a lot of complete stops for stop signs and red lights. If the new brake regen curve produced a slightly lower area, then I guess I recapture less energy back at every deceleration event.

And on the flip side, Gravity owners who drive mostly highways with a much lower number of deceleration events might not notice a change in their % charge, efficiency or range.

My dynamic efficiency actually went up a bit. Prior to the update we were floating between 2.8-2.9. Occasionally we'd touch 3.00, but now we're seeing 3.00-3.02. However, just before the 3.6 update landed Service replaced a coolant valve and flushed the coolant. So, lots of variables affecting my dynamic efficiency.

My battery is indeed draining a bit quicker. At first I thought it was bc I got used to the loaner and it was a full range spec, but after driving a week with it, it does seem to run thru energy a bit quicker in my daily life and I think you are right with the regen recalibration that seems to have occurred. No big deal at all as I still get plenty of range. On our road trip yesterday, the car still outpaced our bladders so it really is all we need and then some.

Anyone else experience a "Unable to Begin Software Update" error, where it says "Your vehicle was unable to initiate the software update due to technicals errors. We are checking for a solution to the problem. You do not need to take any action"? I tried to do a hard reboot twice and no change.

mine hasn't dropped after I installed 3.6.0 on June 9. After the update we drove about 800 miles in GA + FL and the avg consumption per lucidtracker was 3.34 mi/kWh. When driving from GA down to FL dynamic efficiency dropped maybe to around 2.9-3.0, now with mostly city driving it started to rebound back to 3.10ish. Ours has small Voyager wheels and 8k miles

Are you having to use your brakes or have noticed higher regen force? Those would be the only two reasons you’d be losing efficiency due to the brake regen curve.

I’ve wondered if regen is softer as I come to a stop to make stopping smoother, as others have reported. If this is the case and regen is lower while coming to a stop, this would increase the efficiency (lower regen results in lower parasitic heat generation) - unless you engage the brakes to come to a stop. I don’t think max regen has increased, which would be the reason for lower efficiency due to regen.

I suspect that your slightly lower efficiency is instead due other factors. It’s been getting hotter, and it’s possible that climate control (AC) is using more energy. Also, speed, the number of stops at traffic lights, the duration of stops, acceleration/deceleration for traffic, etc. have a huge effect.

For example, my own stats (Trip A) for the exact same commute shows the impact of speed and traffic (the biggest factors). Note the climate consumption numbers, which also have an impact. The first two sets are on version 3.5.1 and the last is 3.6.0.

The drop in efficiency for me anyway was definitely and immediately noticeable since the update. I’m in Alabama and it’s been hot as hell since 4000BC so not using any more energy than I had already been using for a while now for cooling and all. I don’t mind it loosing a bit of range. If it was over estimating before, well I’m good now with a better estimation. I don’t drive efficiently but I’ve had this car for a year now and drive it like I stole it most every day. All good. Just noticing the difference is all.

I think there is a misunderstanding of high regen regarding efficiency. High regen for a stop in which the disk brakes are not used is definitely less efficient than low regen. The only times high regen is more efficient is when you want to stop so quickly that on low regen the disk brakes would have to engage.

Higher regen in efficiency terms has the same effect as stomping on the accelerator except the current is in the opposite direction, higher currents causing greater resistive losses, greater torques, greater loads, greater friction, all heat generators. In no case does regeneration cause these losses to become gains.

The highest efficiency would be like hyper-milers do in 1st generation EVs where they accelerate slowly and try to coast to a stop which pisses off everyone behind them off.

A true 'no compromise' system would be closer to my 2014 Chevy Spark that modulates the regen with the brake pedal until you press too far and it then starts mixing in disk brakes.

Hang on hang on... Because this is my first EV and I'm a newbie. If I understand this correctly, you are saying if I am traveling at 30mph and slow to a complete stop, not using any friction brakes, that slow reg will add more charge back to my battery than high regen?

GT is fully loaded 7 seater, this was for my parents. Although now it ends up being my younger brother's primary vehicle and he's their chaperone 😅

I think there were several other likely different issues to achieve 80A in the first place. What Nosey and I'm talking about is more about the charging curve as it reaches higher battery % level. Ideally you should hit 80A at low battery level and at some point it will throttle down as you get closer to full charge.
It does 80A but it seems people are having varying success of how long it holds 80A. Yesterday mine held 85A from 18% to 60% the charged at 55A the remainder to 90%.

Yes it's possible they adjusted the curve in the last update or added more variables to the equation, the tech back then agreed just a flat 60% based on ChargeLimit (instead of SOC) was quite over simplistic and maybe not tuned enough. Unfortunately my brother driving the GT gets free charging at work so unless we purposely try to experiment with the charging curve again, I'm handing off this task to you! :p
