New software update for Gravity - 3.5

The only true generalization like this is that generalizations like this are never true.
So you’re saying this is a generalization? There isn’t an indisputable software leader in the EV market?
Besides of course Fisker

No. I think Tesla's UX is garbage. Many like @joec agree.

People have preferences. That shouldn't be controversial.

So if Tesla’s UX is garbage where does that place Lucid’s?
Their interface is clean, responsive and doesn’t freeze. FSD is light years ahead of anyone else’s, their PAAK is almost flawless, driver profiles load including the streaming service you use, their scheduled charging works, nav is on point, dash cam, sentry and live view just work.
Love or hate them as a company, their software stack is the market leader in EVs.

I'm glad you like it. I'm not here to debate Tesla, or to convince you to change your mind. My point was only that generalizations like that are always untrue, and I, as well as others on this forum, are an example of that. That is all.

You're welcome to like Tesla's in-car UX. I think it is far too text-heavy, impossible to find what you're looking for, and forces you to interact with the screen for far too many things.

You do not have to change your mind, and you are not wrong for having your opinion, even if I think your opinion is wrong.

Paak is only ok with the enhanced key. I have a 2018 Model 3 with pretty bad PAAK and a 2023 Model X with good PAAK (would not call it almost flawless).

The settings are hit and miss. We find the odd ones that end up getting shared between profiles with some settings mysteriously turning back on from time to time. I haven't played with the profiles in the Lucid yet but there are definitely bugs. Some are pretty old.

One thing that is maddening about Tesla, and I hope Lucid is better about this, are the persistent bugs that 1) you can't correctly report because voice control is garbage, and 2) I don't think they actually care about. One of the worst is the handling of the emergency lane departure warning/avoidance. I absolutely ABOHOR it. It is the worst "feature" on the car so it is turned off in all profiles. Problem is if you engage autopilot or FSD then drop out they re-activate and often times are really odd times. I have reported it probably 20 times over 3 years but it remains a serious bug. Add to that the removal of speed controls with FSD and I am pretty pissed with Tesla.

So, I tend to lean toward that while Tesla's UX is better than most it is closer to garbage in some respects and needs a lot of work. They don't seem to give a s**** about the issues unless they line up with lining Elon's wallet.

I see it now…that’s all I have to say and will leave it at that.

Plus, if we ever get video capability to spend time while charging, the landscape orientation makes more sense. After our MY experience, watching a video in the Polestar 3 portrait screen is like watching a video on an iPhone without turning it sideways.
You don't need Lucid to introduce video capability while charging - that's what CarPlay & AA is for. Whenever they release v3.5 you'll gain the video and literally ALL other capabilities of any iOS or Android device, and not just when charging, but at all times, including when driving. Just get one of these:

If your phone doesn't have sufficient monthly tethering quota (mine has 100GB) also get GL.iNet GL-XE3000 (Puli AX) cell router, get $25/month unlimited tablet plan for it, and configure the router to spoof tablet IMEI, so the carrier would recognize it as a tablet. Snapdragon x62 on the Puli is 3-4 times faster than built in modem of QCM6490 of these AI boxes.

That's why most people don't get how incredibly important this CarPlay & AA release it - they only know how to extract the very limited use out of it, by pairing their phone to it, which is like 5% of capabilities these features unlock.

What Media box do you have?
I have a "OttoAibox" from Ottocast that I used in my X5.

I have the iHeylinkit CP908 one - the last of the 3 links I provided. Your OttoAibox has QCM6125 chip, which is significantly slower in terms of both, regular performance and 4G/5G & WiFi speeds. I would upgrade - the QCM6490 well worth the $350-400 investment. Ask AI to compare side by specs of QCM6125 vs QCM6490 and you'll understand why.

I liken Tesla's UX to using web pages; not a fan of it either.

(and I'm guessing neither was Elon when he got old enough that he couldn't read the small text anymore and then suddenly a resolution adjustment option was implemented to scale things up. that's my conspiracy theory anyway. ;))

I don’t come on here much anymore due to some owners not being very tolerant when expectations are not met. Yes Lucid did set an expectation, but I personally would rather they hold off on a feature addition if last minute they found a problem with it, rather than pushing out a feature with a known problem. I appreciate that error correction adaptability. Lucid has multiple means to stress test these things before release so in my opinion this is proof their gates they’ve put up to catch things are working, which is quite an improvement from the original Gravity roll out a year ago.
Just checking if you replied to me by mistake? The content of your post does not address or relate to either of my posts in this thread.

I’m in no way saying Tesla’s interface and software are perfect. Yes, I wish they would spend time innovating and improving rather than getting my car to fart. I’ve had my frustrations with phantom breaking and glitches. I don’t think anyone will manufacture the perfect software and interface. I don’t expect Lucid, Rivian, or Tesla to ever be 100% perfect for everyone. You don’t need to be perfect though to have a great product and set a benchmark. It may not be a Lucid product, but it doesn’t mean we can’t appreciate it already executes a lot of things really well we wish our Gravity’s had and hope to have someday. Although Tesla doesn’t have CarPlay or Android Auto yet either. We’re all entitled to our own opinions and preferences and no one’s opinion is ever wrong.

no one’s opinion is ever wrong.
Please don't take this a way I didn't mean it. I literally only meant I disagreed with your opinion. It was not a moral statement or anything like it.

People can disagree, that's all I meant. And on that, I do think we agree, it seems.

That would be great!! I know iOS 26.4 provides for it, however my Polestar 3 has not opted in and my Dodge Durango certainly doesn't implement it. I'm a big Apple fanboy - if Lucid's CarPlay integration is as complete as Apple allows, that will be awesome! No need for in-car apps for so much of my needs.

I wonder what kind of revenue loss there is to Lucid when YouTube and other subscription services no longer have to pay Lucid to be allowed into the car?

I don't think Android Auto (Projection) will let you play videos without some extra workarounds. Google strictly blocks video streaming apps like YouTube, Netflix, and Hulu from standard Android Auto projection for safety and distracted driving reasons. Plus, Android Auto and CarPlay aren't able to utilize a second display. As far as I know, Lucid uses a fairly classic stack: QNX RTOS + Android running in a VM. However, unlike Volvo, Lucid decided to reinvent the wheel—instead of using proper AAOS with Google Services, they built their own custom system based on an AOSP. But since it's still basically regular Android under the hood, running off-the-shelf apps like Netflix, YouTube, Hulu, Amazon Video, etc., shouldn't be a problem.
