Mostly, they have workarounds, such as power cycling the AC or the ambient lighting. Some things are weird, like easy entry mode moving the driver's seat back all the way down. Restoring the seat position fixes it. Do be prepared to reboot a lot, however. I expected a lot of early production glitches, but it is much better than I anticipated, and none of the issues have stopped me from truly enjoying this fantastic vehicle.

If something is afoot, just reboot!
If the key fob issues are dealt with, I will plan to reboot daily when I get mine :)
 
I just got my car delivered today...finally. (Blk, 5 seat, 20/21, MojavePP, all upgrades except HUD, power & tow)

I was SUPER nervous I was going to get a lemon, after this car needed a new battery pack before it shipped to me. It ended up delaying my delivery about a week and a half for them to install the new battery and put down some bugs caused by its installation.

So I'm happy to say, that after only a day of inspecting and driving a bit, this car is in great shape. I didn't have any issues thus far which lowered my stress levels significantly. I'm sure some things will pop up as I go, but so far, so great.

Because I never test drove and only sat in the car before today, the one thing that surprised me were the door handles. I haven't heard much about them but they will take some getting used to...they feel very cheap to me, as do the vent knobs. Very odd choices and now I get what a couple of YT Reviewers meant when they said a couple things seemed cheap compared to the rest. Anyways, those are small things. The driving was amazing, of course. Plenty of power even in Smooth and I really love their screen layouts and GUI.

Oh, I ordered sunshade set. Didn't take long to realize those are needed...

Finally, if anyone is in need of a sales associate or is unhappy with theirs, Ted Z was fantastic throughout the entire, very challenging process. DM me if you need his info.

Cheap door handles and vent knobs.
I can't say I see that, but everyone has their opinions.

Handles seem secure and functional. No wiggles, looseness, etc. Vent knobs move fine and feel secure.

Unfortunate you didn't do a test drive despite the info you gained from some reviews.

Hope your positives outweigh your negatives.
 
Honestly I'm just glad to have actual vent knobs and not some stupid screen only way to adjust them!
 
Well, the handles are more electronically activated which surprised me. Matter of fact, there was a delay on the passenger door before it unlatched each time and the delivery guide even asked me about it (he QC'd car) so I think it was a known issue. So that may have added to my initial opinions on it. The vent handles? Just a bit plastic-y.

Very small things...very positive.

So, the handles just take some getting used to. My kids still pull them about five times and they’ve been in the car over three months. I’ve taught them and showed them but if you’re not patient, they’re challenging at first.

Effectively, the first little pull out/up lowers the window and then you can pull a bit harder to open it. You can get it to one motion, eventually.

The challenge is getting used to the amount of force required to pull to get the window to move down. It’s very slight.

To me, the quality feels fine and solid. But I am always concerned my kids will just yank them off the car. Given the frameless windows, I do think the way Tesla implemented the handles on the S is more foolproof and takes less getting used to.

Yeah, whoever ok’d those parts should not have a job.

When designing a luxury car, you need the touch points to be of best quality. Door handles, indicator stalks, steering wheel, vent controls, buttons- we touch these dozens of times everyday. Spend $500 dollars extra, get the best quality, cut costs elsewhere.

This is one thing I could never understand, this is basic design fundamentals. How did they mess this up? they thought it’s ok to cheapen out here? Head scratcher

I have no clue about designing and I even know this!

I think I've had perhaps 1 instance of the key fob not waking the car up. The fob needs an occasional shake, but otherwise it is working well. I haven't even had to do the battery removal/reinsertion trick (apart from the aforementioned incident).

They’re fine. They don’t feel cheap to me at all. Nobody has complained about the stalks or steering wheel.

There’s no need for hyperbole. It’s okay that some people think certain aspects feel cheap. Literally no matter what you did, even if you made them out of titanium, some folks wouldn’t like it; it’d feel “too cold” or similar.

They’re opinions. The materials aren’t “bad.”
 
Yeah, I have no problem with stalks or steering. The door handles just caught me by surprise and I can already tell, I'll be telling every single person who starts to get in "Don't pull too hard on handles, they are electronic..." But whatever...not a huge deal. Of course, that will follow by "don't slam the doors, they are soft closing," too. Ha.

I agree "not bad," but different...
 
The Gravity I grabbed from inventory exactly a week ago is still at the factory, according to my SA.
It gated last Wednesday and hasn't moved since.
When I was ordering it, the website said the car would be available in two weeks, but now I'm not really confident that's going to happen.

Can anyone share their experience getting a car from inventory? I've read that some people had the same issue, but I'm curious how long it actually took for your car to be delivered, and whether anyone knows why these cars aren't being transported and just sit at the factory.

I don't have any experience ordering one but I will say there are cars that have been on the site for over a month now that still say "available in two weeks" so I'm not sure what it's an actual indicator of.

In my opinion, the stalks and vent controls are at least as good and maybe a little nicer than my two high end Mercedes. Steering wheel is comparable and maybe very slightly below Mercedes level (but Mercedes makes very good steering wheels.). The door handles I will admit are a learned experience. It is not so much that they are poor quality but rather that they take a double pull approach. I am sure with time and regular use you will adapt to a smooth double pull in one clean pulling motion but for none regular users, it will be a peculiar experience.

I put an order in on Monday and it seemed the SA had more visibility as to what was in the pipeline than the website showed. We'll see how this goes by end of the month in regards to getting me a VIN. I'm not optimistic but definitely will take a pleasant surprise.

I ended-up with an inventory car but I only took it because it was AT an SC many months ago. So I knew I wasn’t going to wait for transport, etc.

I would not get an inventory car unless it was either a) at your SC already or b) you knew it left factory and was getting to SC shortly. The “available in two weeks” stuff is definitely not reliable. Nor is much of the inf from SAs, unfortunately. Not their fault.

Sorry, the reason I say this is to avoid the situation you and others are in. We’ve seen too many cars get “stuck” at the factory for some reason - even once they’re finished and supposedly “ready”.

Since I posted my question, my car did switch from "In Production" to "Preparing for Delivery" so something is definitely happening behind the scenes. No updates from my SA so far

You can always “unmatch” and not lose your deposit as long as you do end-up buying a Gravity…I hope you don’t have to go that route, but I know your situation
is not unique (unfortunately).

To those who have received license plates for their Gravities, does the license plate still say "Alternative Fuel" or something similar?
Or is this just a regular plate like an ICE car?
