I don’t understand. If the car opens with the key, why was he late? Does it not start with the key? I guess what I’m asking is, if you have the card/key, why is it a big deal that the fob is inoperable at times? I don’t own the gravity so apologies as I’m sure this is obvious to many. Thank you.I just posted the video and the full rant here: as well as here and here.
To avoid duplicating the text, just please read it there and upvote for visibility because we know Lucid reads that subreddit and will pay attention.
It's exactly as @Ron_Burgundy said. And I explain about the fob battery and the key card.
Yeah mods should move it to the other thread, I was just responding to some other posts on the topic but you’re right we should keep this about the OTA.So....why are we talking about these items (corporate structure and earnings reports) in this thread? I thought this was for 3.3.8. Not that it isn't interesting and all...
Maybe Eric took the 3.3.8 update with him when he left!So....why are we talking about these items (corporate structure and earnings reports) in this thread? I thought this was for 3.3.8. Not that it isn't interesting and all...
I’m not familiar with Jeri Ford but from an external perspective I don’t think firing Bach over this would be the right move.
Creature comfort - when this is on, since last night, 100% of the time I come back to car, nothing happens and I have to use fob button to open and get key bc are not detected. Sometimes it DOES then detect fob when I shake it, sometimes I need to use my keycard. All of this happened after app update AND making sure fob was up to date through app. Could be coincidence.
Well... Feedback on 3.3.8. Errors are VERY rare now - these are the first in two weeks. However, today I did get no rear steering as well as sensor blocked - all 'not' errors and cleared once it took a nap. Otherwise, key entry is working quite well even with a low battery. Rarely, I need to shake the fob and works everytime. However, I still don't have drive assist and adaptive cruise once I went to 3.3.8. I will perform a test to see if wife's profile has the same issue with Dreamdrive this weekend.Maybe Eric took the 3.3.8 update with him when he left!
The Lucid organization structure is interesting. The leadership team chart shows Design (Jenkins), Powertrain (Dlala), and Engineering (Bach) each headed by SVP's reporting directly to the CEO. Software does not show up on the Leadership chart as a direct report, even though Lucid is trying to make the car as much about user software interface as about driving dynamics, efficiency, and space utilization
It's also interesting that these three things -- driving dynamics, efficiency, and space utilization -- are the areas where the Gravity excels, just as did the Air. But software is the one core area that is parked somewhere further down the organization chart. And it the one core area that has fallen flat on its face.
I'm guessing UI Software probably reports through Engineering, although I think it is much less in the domain of conventional engineering as Powertrain would be, which Lucid actually has reporting independently of Engineering. I also can't tell where powertrain software reports, although it would seem most closely linked to Dlala's bailiwick
Organization design matters a lot more than many people realize. In the early days of the ramp up of outsourcing in U.S. manufacturing companies, Sourcing usually reported to the head of Manufacturing. And for many companies the efforts stumbled haphazardly. This was finally addressed successfully by some companies by reversing the organization chart and subordinating Manufacturing to the head of Sourcing. They found that this organization flip changed the question in a fundamental way. Manufacturing leaders tended to think of their own factories as the default location for production and outsource only the work that put a drag on their internal metrics. Sourcing leaders tended more to look at the question as one of what was the best way to get the product produced that the company wanted to sell, viewing their own factories as only one of the potential options. In short, Manufacturing leaders viewed their jobs as making their factories as efficient as possible. Sourcing leaders viewed their jobs as sourcing products to sell in the most efficient way.
If Lucid wants to elevate UI to the same footing as driving dynamics and space utility, they need to act like it when they design their organization.
(Sorry, @9point81. I posted here where the conversation on this topic is most current and will rely on the Mods to ship it to a more appropriate thread with the other posts.)
Does Adaptive Cruise not work even if you adjust the setting so that the button engages Cruise first before Drive Assist?Well... Feedback on 3.3.8. I already tried that as well - not working. I am hoping it is just my profile and wife's profile will work better tomorrow from our drive to Salt Lake City tomorrow for groceries.Does Adaptive Cruise not work even if you adjust the setting so that the button engages Cruise first before Drive Assist?
I actually read it all agree you can’t ignore that their worst department, software, is in a different org chart setup than their best departments. I also just like that meme.I skip a lot of posts that I don't find interesting or useful and simply move on. And I don't expect all of my posts to be interesting to or read by all forum viewers, or by many on more esoteric matters.
But thank you for bringing your lack of interest to my attention.
Bach is leaving!?!? Any idea why?
With Rawlinson now gone, I viewed Dlala, Jenkins, and him as holding the core mission of the company intact.
Well said, @Bunnylebowski but I’ve got to disagree on one part — service people used to be good. Lately, customer service has become pretty unreliable and unprofessional. You and a few others might’ve had better luck, but not everyone’s that fortunate. The SVP of quality was replaced which I think is the most important move. It’s impossible for us to know the behind the scenes aspects behind Gravity development and production, we are not company insiders and even those of us with leadership experience may be dead wrong on our assumptions without having detailed information. BUT in my opinion since Peter Rawlinson and VP of manufacturing Steven David departed, the reliability and predictability of the car has gotten worse. Air Fob worked for me nearly all of the time, if it didn’t, it was because of a dead battery. And there was always pin to drive, and the keycards for me always worked too. Now there’s no phone as a key, incomprehensible fob chaos, keycards don’t work a lot of the time, and no pin to drive. The fact that it’s 11 months since first produced vehicles and there’s no CarPlay or AA means to me that the state of the first production Gravity was so poor that Apple wouldn’t even consider approving CarPlay, let alone Apple Key.
BUT we must be even handed and fair here. The charging on Gravity is what every Air owner was begging for since day 1. Native NACS, super fast and easy reliable charging. And the vehicle build quality, fit and finish is leaps and bounds beyond the first Airs. And we can have independent screens now which people begged for on the Air. And the low levels of NVH is fantastic, the sound system is even better, DDPro has advanced a lot, and now we’ve got a dashcam (yes I know it’s in Beta and erratic), and we’ve got gobs more efficiency data than before and better charger planning, and user interface over all is next level over the Air, and the Air is already good. So all things considered in the balance, the Gravity is AMAZING and the best driving EV SUV you can buy. But this screw up with the fobs/entry and confidence destroying instability of the software combined with some hardware problems like center console and RDU and seats and windows suggests to me that there was some inability to figure things out before the car rolled off the line. Who owns that failure is anyone’s guess.
It’s a tough market man, it is NOT easy at all to make a vehicle in this climate, and I very much respect Lucid and love their service people and innovations and the car itself. BUT there needs to be some improvements and it needs to happen fast, so I’m reassured they are taking action, I just hope it yields results.
It seems very likely that they turned up a serious problem with 3.3.8, and won't be making it available to anyone new. You'll probably have to wait for a 3.3.9, or whatever the next release is called. Very disappointing to seem them fumble an update like this.I finally got mine back from the SC with 3.3.5.
Trying to upgrade - Is 3.3.8 no longer available now? Nothing on the app or the vehicle.

I think even folks who were alerted to the update in their app and later tried to install it found that it was no longer available, so this does indeed seem like it was pulled back. The first post on this thread about 3.3.8 was on October 29, just over a week ago. Prior updates have sometimes rolled out over 2-3 weeks. Maybe this is one of them?
FWIW, the update hasn't been pushed to either of our Gravities yet, including the one that was delivered over four months ago.
