Gravity 3.3.8 Released

So, after driving the car a few more times today, I do think they actually did improve the black screen problem overall...Though you still get black screens when you first open the door, they do seem to come on much faster than before. It still needs some work though.
Agreed.

In my observation after a "deep" sleep like overnight, car wakes up fast.

It's only when I'm out of the car for a short period - like dropping/picking up kids - that I notice when I come back to the car I still get black screens but much quicker recovery/boot than before for sure.

Agree with you the screens come on way faster now. I drove from Park City to Salt Lake City, UT today and back - the 'green goblin' was glitch free the entire trip. No issues with the fob, screens, errors, etc. Even Tidal and HERE was perfect (it normally is). I have 3.3.8, key fob update from 3.3.5, and smiles per kilowatt. The 'green goblin' drinks (electrons) like a drunken sailor. I also got 2.75 miles/kW.

Anyone else’s key experience went backwards after this update?
Ironically I’ve had the worst experience with the keys this morning on the way to work. The key fob would not work no matter how many times I shook it. Then the key card wouldn’t work at all on the charging pad (it would always work as a last resort in the past). Ended up taking the battery out of the key fob (which I’ve never had to do before) and then that worked immediately. We’ll see what happens this afternoon to go home but that sucked this morning.

Weird. I'll test this tonight or tomorrow if I remember

I don’t have 3.3.8 but my fob has gone backwards since the iOS update and me checking the fob firmware to make sure it was up to date. I keep getting key not detected almost every time I drive and fob isn’t starting car - much like where it was three months ago….

But, I am hopeful it just works itself out after sleeping and resetting.

Locked/unlocked the car a few more times now that service is here...I think the first instance of prolonged black screen I saw immediately after the software update was a fluke. The screens now seem to be coming on every time (after the usual 10-15 second wait).
Is the multi-second wait for the whole screen(s) to come on normal? It has been happening to us for the last few days, but it wasn't like that before. We have had our Gravity for about a week+.

It is for now. On older update caused the issue actually to be much worse where it was taking anywhere from 1-5 mins to start/boot up. It's gotten down to a few seconds or so now, so most of us are jut glad with that for now, but of course would like to get back to when it booted instantly. Hopefully they get it set back like that pretty soon.

“No,” but for now, yes.

My experience has been much improved since updating the keyfob firmware. No more instances of the car totally ignoring the keyfob despite shaking and battery removals, forcing me to use the keycard and my PIN. On 3.3.5.

Infuriating. Got to my Gravity this morning with my fob in my pocket. Won't open. Even with fob button presses. Had to take the Tesla as I was late taking the kids to school and it was raining.

I can see the car is online on my phone. 3.3.5. Latest fob firmware.

I'm so frustrated.

I’ve had something similar happen twice since 3.3.5 and fob update and had to use keycard. Car DID open when I used the button on fob, but would not start without keycard. Just not sure why there seems to be so much inconsistency.

That said, it’s MUCH better than before 3.3.5 and fob update. But I’d like it to be perfect. I am coming back from a trip late tonight and don’t love being nervous about how the Gravity will react to sitting at airport. It’s been fine before, so here’s hoping!

Battery removal and/or replacement would have been an easy first step, if the batteries are dead the key fobs don’t work. Just to save you a service trip if that’s all it is.

Definitely. But when you’re trying to get your kids somewhere, or yourself, you shouldn’t have to allow for extra time to do the battery reset, etc…

Emad is now in charge of software. Great guy but Engineering and Software Development are very different roles so not sure what I make of this news yet.....

Maybe the optimistic take is that the two departments were too siloed before and that’s how we ended up with hardware and software that seems so out of sync sometimes, and this will improve collaboration and integration.

I am sad that Eric Bach is leaving, he was my favorite to listen to talk about Lucid tech topics.

Bach is leaving!?!? Any idea why?

With Rawlinson now gone, I viewed Dlala, Jenkins, and him as holding the core mission of the company intact.

Maybe because of the software/key issues. Someone had to get fired.

Jerry Ford, vice president of quality is also out.

My 5 year old Hyundai opens every single time…..it’s horrendous that Lucid can’t even fix key opening. They messed of big time. It’s such a basic thing.

Maybe they should just rewrite the whole code at this point. What a disaster!

Such great drivers vehicles yet they keys and phone app just sucks!

Maybe someone should do ask the CEO why they can’t get the keys/app right during earnings call. I know they are all working hard but this is totally unacceptable, 5 years on……I’m very disappointed in Lucid. Doesn’t matter how hard everyone is working or the usual reason- supply chain issues blah blah blah …..Keys has to work 100%……

What's the long-term outlook for Lucid now?
My Gravity is in production, and I was going to finance it with the 2.99% interest from Lucid, but maybe I should just lease it even though the money factor is a lot higher than the loan.

I’m not familiar with Jeri Ford but from an external perspective I don’t think firing Bach over this would be the right move.
