I mistakenly posted this on the lease thread. I’m pasting it here where I meant to post it. I apologize to those of you who already read it.

I visited the San Diego studio today while out here on the west coast. I wanted to get another look at the Gravity. I only had a 10 minute test drive at the Lenox Mall pop-up store back in May in Atlanta. A few thoughts and observations:

- Wow, the Gravity is a lot bigger than I remember. It is WIDE. I’ve got a 4-post lift in my garage and I realized the Gravity may not fit between the posts. I need to get home and measure. I may have to move the lift to the left side of my garage, which means modifying the garage door rail system on that side. I made the move to an SUV because of the utility and upright seating position, although I’m single, don’t have kids, and don’t need a people hauler. I probably have a move to Florida in my future, since I’m finished working, and the Gravity will certainly help with hauling stuff.

- The store Gravity had the 22”/23” wheels, which is what I ordered on my DE. That rear wheel is BIG. And that tire is going to be expensive when it comes time to buy one, not to mention any repair to the wheel rim. I will definitely be buying wheel insurance, and separately the tire coverage from Discount Tire.

- The store model had the white interior. I like the white interior on the Tesla Model S, but the Lucid white not so much, maybe because it has more grey in it. I’m glad I went with the Tahoe.

- The store was busy. There was a lot of foot traffic and a lot of people were looking at both the Gravity and AIr. Several people were closing deals with sales consultants at small desks.

- I casually mentioned to one of the SAs that I had a DE on order and didn’t receive the CEO email or the speedform. One of the more senior SAs came over and promised to follow-up for me. Yet another senior SA came over, Robbie, who may be the manager, and said that the CEO email and speedform only went to the people who ordered late last year or in the first quarter this year. I ordered June 6th. Don’t know if that is true, but I’ve been waiting 3 months and I’m without my primary driver.

- I also had a chance to sit in the Air (I had also ridden in my neighbor’s Air in May). The Air is really beautiful. Sitting in it made me long for my totaled BMW M5. I think I would’ve seriously considered an Air if it had NACS and the same rapid charging architecture as the Gravity. I wish they had made the Air with a hatchback similar to the Model S. I opened the trunk and folded down the rear seats in the Air. It reminded me of all the times had done that in my BMW, and the space limitations of wanting to buy something big at Costco and not being able to get it home (first-world problems, I know).

- Robbie offered to let me do another Gravity test drive, which I thought was extremely nice of him, given they knew I already had a Dream Edition on order. At first I declined because I didn’t want to deny someone else a test drive. However, the schedule on Thursday was wide open. I decided to take him up on it for several reasons. First, my brother is flying in and I want him to see the car and get his opinion. Second, I feel I need some more time with the car to make certain of my decision. I think some of the teething issues I’ve been reading about have me feeling uneasy about the Gravity. When I sat in it I was less jazzed than last time.

- The SAs in the store were super nice and helpful. I can’t say enough good things about them.

The test one they have in San Diego has the Tahoe interior so you'll get to see that in person as well. I didn't think I liked it from the pictures online but once I test drove it with that interior I changed my mind and updated my order.

They told me the same about the speedform, I figure if I really want one that badly I'll just pick one up later.

I took delivery this morning. Still have to get some photos taken, but it all went very smoothly (though there was definitely some figuring out of where things are on the screens). Everything worked (one fob, two cards) without a glitch, and once I had my virtual orientation (which I found to be very helpful), I was good to go.

Really love it. Vast improvement on my Model 3 (which, I know - duh).

Only gripe is that I have to have a service visit to install Homelink receiver, though the car software is ready for it. I would have asked for this to be built in, if I'd realized that. Not that big a deal.

GT, Stealth, Aurora/Yosemite, 20/21, 5 seat, DD Premium, Sound, Power, Comfort/Convenience.

for ten years i used my phone as my key to my Tesla. Never carried a key or a card. Never even had to take my phone out of my pocket, the car always unlocked as i approached 100% of the time. It surprises me how much convenience stuff Tesla was doing literally more than a decade ago that other manufacturers still haven't figured out.

PaaK isn’t enabled yet for Gravity. It’s a coming soon feature…

Honestly, I was so used to using my phone as a key with Tesla for 6+ years and Rivian for two years, that even carrying the lucid fob is super annoying. So getting my fob to work will be awesome. But I really want PaaK soon.

Same here with my Tesla! I’ve been using my phone as a key for years, and it’s been flawless. Does it work the same way with the Gravity? My salesperson and the studio team said it does.

You’re right about Tesla’s convenience features—the Dashcam, for example, is something that would have been really useful. I’m quite surprised Lucid doesn’t offer it, even as an optional feature.

Confused, are you saying your phone doesn't work as a a digital key?
Here is what I get when I ask ChatGPT if Gravity supports using a mobile phone as a digital key. Is Lucid false advertising this feature? I was told the same by people in the studio and my SA.

Thanks for clarifying. I’m disappointed that Lucid staff have been giving out inaccurate information—this isn’t the first time I’ve received wrong details. For example, they say that without the Tech Package, there is some standard ambient lighting inside the car, but I’ve heard from people who got their Gravity that there isn’t any. It makes it difficult for customers to know what actually works. Hopefully, the Phone-as-a-Key feature arrives soon via OTA, but it’s frustrating to be misled about something so basic.

I don’t have the tech package in my gravity but I do have ambient lighting, just not on the dash. This is the lighting without the tech package.

Specifically, it’s the lighting on the doors and up to the dash that would be a line of lights that you do not get without tech package. Pick posted by @Clyde2575 is spot on. You DO get those lights without tech and you can change their colors, but you only get a couple of choices (themes) for color.

I do get 11 choices but some are very similar to one another. I don’t personally care, I keep it on the green to match my Aurora green exterior. My husband keeps his on the same.

Yes. The icon for Homelink appears on the curved display screen, but when I tap it, I get a UPC code on the Pilot screen saying to scan the code to order Homelink. The UPC code, though, simply opens the Lucid website - nothing having to do with Homelink. My Virtual Orientation guy told me that the Gravity does not come with a Homelink receiver.

I was surprised, but I'll follow up to see if he is correct.

He’s incorrect. Every single Gravity is supposed to come with the hardware. Some did not and folks here have it installed post delivery by the SC.

Well poop. My GDE went into production more than a week before yours (around August 21st) but it still shows as “in production”.

Picked up GDE #234

Couple notable things:

- A couple rock chips on front from transportation at 18 miles on the odo. Not enough to bother me and I’ll color PPF over it.
- Third row driver side headrest does not drop when pressing the button on display. (To be serviced)
- Third row driver side has a black plastic piece on the back that’s loose and comes off when collapsing the seat. (To be serviced)
- I did get a rear steering fault but it went away after I drove it again
- Frunk is slightly misaligned (To be serviced)

Otherwise a fantastic car so far!

Service center offered to install the rear trunk badge and front fenders bear decals after I get the car PPF’d.

Well poop. My GDE went into production more than a week before yours (around August 21st) but it still shows as “in production”.

Nothing on my mid-June order yet, but I'm glad. Not that I expected any movement this soon. They told me 4-6 months, but I expected 6-8 all along.

Honestly, I'd rather wait until next Spring at this point to see more of the bugs fixed, but it's not worth cancelling and starting over now. I really don't need the car sooner, and it could still be well into next year anyway.
