I just tried to have a valet park my new Air for the first time i have mobile key set up and I used that to drive the car. When I got to the lot, I handed the valet the key card, told him the PIN and went into the restaurant. When it came time to retrieve the car, the new valet didn’t know the PIN and couldn’t get the car out of park. This seems like a really stupid system especially coming from Tesla where you could put the card key in a specific spot in the console and drive it. What do Lucid owners do when they have a mandatory valet garage and the valet needs to return the car? Even setting a pin like 12345 seems idiotic. Is it possible to disable the PIN requirement? Is there a valet mode I’m not aware of?

See here. Might be a small valet learning curve.

It seems the valet did not know how to hold the card in the proper place inside. As the vehicle owner, you should inform the valet of how to do that. This is precisely the reason that I provide any valet with my fob. In fact, that’s the only time I use the fob for anything.

I didn’t know the proper place until I read the thread linked in the previous answer. I’d like to explore your answer though. Do you carry the fob with you all the time just in case you might have to valet your car, or keep the fob in the car in case you have to valet, or use some other method?

Let the Fob be with you.

I keep a Fob in a Faraday pouch in the center console. Makes life easier

Yeah, it’s confusing at first—but Lucid does have a Valet Mode. Enable it before handing the car over and it bypasses your normal PIN, limits speed, and locks private storage. You can also temporarily disable PIN to Drive if needed.

I do not believe that this is correct. Do you have a source for this and instructions to turn on Valet mode? I agree it would be a desirable feature.

This is not true.

It's painful to teach a valet to use the card and how to bypass the pin. It went from one ear, bypassing the brain and go straight through the other.

Just hope Lucid would work soon on a Valet Mode.

Like others suggested, for now, just hand over your fob to a valet to skip the PIN.

Lucid’s system feels overly complicated compared to Tesla, especially in real valet situations. If I drive using the mobile key but then have to hand over a key card plus explain a PIN, it creates unnecessary friction and confusion exactly what happened when the second valet couldn’t move the car. In daily use, I’d probably avoid using the key card for valet at all and just hand over a key fob or set a very simple temporary PIN, because while the security is understandable, the current setup doesn’t feel very practical when you’re dealing with busy valet garages where staff changes constantly.

You don’t need the PIN. Hold the card on the roof of the car where the triangle microphone array is. Shift into D.

You know that and I know that, but good luck with both having the same valet return your car and remember your card to the roof instructions...Keyfob for the win until the Air gets a valet mode.

Fascinating. I appreciate the info provided here.
No idea how any of this is better than just using the key fob (although even that seems needlessly complicated)

Oh I’m well aware. I use the fob when I valet for precisely this reason. I was just responding to the “If I drive using the mobile key but then have to hand over a key card plus explain a PIN”
