Lucid Air came out of park and rolled off car hauler. Read someone had a similar problem when inside car on grade. Need help getting a autourney to help me with the case of having this happen my cargo insurance is going to go up being my insurance company says it is my fault. This dash light came on after I went back up into car to see what happened still eas in park.

I had to do a urgent strapping of the front tire to keep the car from rolling any farther off the ramp. This was during unloading it. Watch video imagine the car is in the horizontal position on the back of the lift. Parking brake is set, I get out of car even getting out of car will go into park. I go down to hydraulic control and start to lower car in a slanted position to get ramps lined up before putting them into place. The grade was not where it was when I loaded the car at the dealer in Seattle yet I kept looking at the car as it lowered then I heard a loud click and the car started rolling back off the ramp. Now I had to act fast and strap through the tire being there is no place under the car to place a hook with a strap so I had to go through the front tire to hold car in place then I got the ramps up in place under the rear tires then lowered the car to bring the rear wheels back onto the ramps so I could pull the car forward. That is why it is no straps on the wheels you think you can drive a car forward or back ward if straps are on no you have to remove the straps before you can move the car.
The gentleman is the towing person in this case. A BOL is likely the job description for the tow with identification details for the car, owner, and anything else that may be relevant.

Opening the car door does not automatically put the car into park.

You could have had the tow hook in to keep it winched up. Then it wouldn’t have rolled anywhere.

Go try it stop your car before opening the door then open the door and watch what happens. But I did not trust that so I always just pushed the button on the dash area putting it in park but I did notice that works too.
I don't have to try. I know. I've had two Lucids at this point plus a handful of loaners.

There is only one way to put the car into park from the car. That's by pushing in the button on the right gear shaft.

So what this sounds like is that the car was in drive. Either it was in hold mode before the incline became too much or in roll mode where it overcame the wheel jams you had in the back.

Bill OF Lading is filled out by shipper for every shipment describing certain things someone needs to know about the shipment. Any thing such as personal property needs to be also listed on the BOL any hazards mechanical possibilities of failure that might put someone in danger. The parking brake issue on a slope should of been listed as a hazard in the loading of this car knowing if I seen that it would have made the decision to just not accept it being it could roll out of park. Now I even googled Audi E5 a electric SUV in the owner's manual it also has the possibility of rolling away So I took precautions by placing a winch cable to the bottom of the frame and sure enough its parking brake was not holding. Even found out Tesla will roll out of park to. These hazards need to be listed on the BOL and the customer is responsible for that. In fact you can be fined and jailed for not listing cricle things on your shipment that a carrier is unknowledgeable of.

So you googled it for the Audi, but not the Lucid? And you blame Lucid?

The car does indeed go into park if you are stopped and open the driver-side door.

In certain conditions, yes. But OP fails to realize that the parking breaks on any car have a limited ability to stop rolling. Especially with a car as heavy as the Air, something that is clearly spelled out in the manufacturer’s instructions to haulers

Read your owner's manual it is in there drivers door opens at park car shuts down and goes into park. Now when I was downloading car this time using winch on car it was in park and every time, I released the winch cable it was rolling, and you could hear the brakes trying to hold it. Also, when I got it down onto the ramps out of the 6% grade what I'd say is in the photo there 2 wheels on the pavement and two still on the ramps it was at around 3% grade to make sure the bumper would not contact the ground. I disconnected the cable then entered the car and on the big middle screen was Parking Brake Failure Service Immediately. Was trying to get my phone out to take photo of it but then it went away, and I never seen it as I pulled car up to the service bay of Lucid I know they hid this information from my insurance company. But if you would help me out forward your information to my insurance claims about what your Lucid did. [email protected] in Subject Claim 25-263906462

There are standards that are set by the Hiway Safety transportation board A tow truck driver or a car hauler dose not like go oh I have to look up every damn owner's manual of every vehicle if we sat and took 2 hours to read every owner's manual we would never get on the road and earn a living that is what the BOL is supposed to tell what handling should be required in the loading and unloading of their vehicles. And this is why the HSTB has made requirements that every vehicle are supposed to do from 1 car to the next why do you think Lucid is on the HSTB fine list for not following regulations why do you think their stock has dropped it is due to cars rolling out of park on hills.

I find your post full of strange, unsupported claims.

There is no such organization as the Hiway Safety Transportation Board. Or HSTB. Perhaps you are talking about National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.

Further, the NHTSA had never made requirements what each vehicle is supposed to do from "1 car to the next" That sounds nonsensical.

Your excuse that it would take too long to read the manual to correctly operate the car had been rejected by every court in the country. If you don't want to learn how to transport new high tech vehicles, stick with a Ford Focus.

Your claim that Lucid is on some imaginary "fine" list from an imaginary organization, for some imaginary regulation failure, is simply a fabrication.

I have researched the NTSB database. There are no reports from anyone whatsoever about Lucid's failing to hold in park. No reports of any Lucid fine by any safety agency. No unresolved safety investigations. Nothing. From what I see, you may be the first person to ever drop a Lucid!

Sorry, but It seems you came to a Lucid owners forum looking for support for your actions; hoping we Lucid owners will support your error. And you try to get support from us by casting false claims against Lucid of fines, stock prices, and rollaways? How do you think that will work out?

No, I did not but I've been warning other Tow truck companies and car transporters the failure in retrieving one of these could endanger your life if it rolls out of park as your exiting the door and that door pins you under it as it rolls backwards. I know there was a parking brake malfunction I seen it on the big screen not just that warning light and they are listed by the NHTSB

For sure! Not disagreeing here. Just pointing out a situation where the car self-changes to park.

I see them come up on the load board every so often I will never touch one of these again. Someday one of them is going to roll away and kill someone.

I suppose I should have been more clear. The driver side door being open does not necessitate that the car is in Park. I have driven the car with the driver door open on a rare occasion for parking purposes. Passengers can open their doors without the car going into park.

Regardless, OP isn't going to get whatever he was looking for here.

Well…… hate to burst your bubble but maybe you should try again. The car definitely goes into Park from Drive when opening the drivers door.

Not sure if putting out personal information like this is allowed.

Also, with all the opposite reports you are getting from people here on the forum do you really think it’s wise to give the internet personal details about the incident.

I’d delete this post, if I were you. Nothing an Adjuster would love to do more than watch your little video explanation and reach out to Lucid for clarification.

While the outcome as posted is clearly regrettable, I'd be inclined to withhold judgement for the time being as there were probably more details we don't yet know.
It's quite possible that the OP wasn't in the best state of mind to formulate a coherent defense.
A terrible day for all involved parties for sure, though.
