I want my GDE and GGT now. But, I am mindful of my very early S and X - both of which creaked like pirate ships as long as I had them.

I was told pre-vin goes to production in 8-12 weeks - which is when VIN would come. Again, ask an SA and each will give a different answer.

Patience. Though I would get much more use out of my Gravity in summer than fall or winter…

Agree on the patience.
And yet patience is relative to each individual.
Some don't have time for patience.
For those who don't, options may exist through contact with their SA.

The 8-12 weeks pre-VIN period you stated is somewhat consistent with what my SA had told me previously.

Again, back to patience; I'm in no rush (another relative term).
EOY would be nice.

The one missing feature was the Power Package, which I'm going to wait for.

Oh, that's right -- I forgot that the Power Package was also a missing feature in these available GGT's.. or at least in a few of them. I imagine that most people would want the outlets. I definitely find them to be a missing feature in my current EV. Thanks for confirming and adding more details.

I wonder if these GGT's were produced before they decided to add the Power Package back in as an option, after the HUD/Tech package was removed as an early option. Hopefully the next batch of GGT's will include them.

Hard to know the exact reason for the GGTs w/o the Power Package.
It could also be these were ordered w/o the package by customers, but were cancelled, for different reasons.

I don't think that's a function of being an early build but rather of being a Tesla build. Our 2015 Model S had one of the lowest structural rigidity numbers of any full-size sedan at the time. I thought our 2021 Model S Plaid would have addressed this, but by 10,000 miles it had developed squeaks and groans in its rear quarters.

On the other hand, our early-build Air Dream P (No. 154) was as solid as a rock. The Air Dream that replaced it after a wreck (No. 395) now has over 36,000 miles on it and remains as quiet and rock solid as a vault.

I got the same feeling of solidity while test driving the Gravity on city streets that I get in our Air but that I have never gotten in any Tesla I've owned or ridden in. This is the kind of thing that Lucid sweats and that Tesla doesn't.

She didn't say the models werer produced before adding the Power Package, just that they were produced w/o the package.
It's not just a model from a cancelled order.

Anyone with some flexibility in the model they want, has choices.

That is a good question. I assume that some parts continue to be constrained, and they want to keep the line moving. It is odd, although at least it implies they're making a lot of them?

That's the answer.
She said it comes down to parts availability and the need to keep production batches running.

She said it's rare, but sometimes a model assigned a pre-VIN will have the pre-VIN removed because as parts are being organized, if a part isn't available, they remove the pre-VIN until the part is available. That was the case with the models with HUDs assigned pre-VINs before the supply issue.

I am just guessing based on flyovers that Lucid has been producing about 100 Gravity per week for the last couple of months. Most for KSA but some for North America. I agree that parts constraints is driving a lot of production decisions.

I don't think anyone ever said there was a supply issue with the power outlets.
That may seem implied because models w/o the outlets are available, but platinum appearance was offered over stealth according to another member's conversation with an SA.
They aren't standard, so we have those without the outlets.
Some customers don't want the outlets.

She says SAs aren't provided a full explanation of how the order system is used in making production decisions.

I think there’s likely no correlation between orders and production. They chose aurora green to be first, per many SAs, for example, but I would be surprised if that was the most popular color with respect to orders. I think they’re building what they can based on parts. A bit absurd since they’ve had 6+ months to ensure they have the right parts, etc. Generally, they’ve tried to build most expensive options first to get some revenue, but if you don’t have the parts, you build what you can.

I emailed SA today asking if there’s any chance in “h” “e” double hockey sticks I can get my GDE at end of July. I am guessing “no”, in which case I am SOL for my R1S replacement. Oh well. Will likely cancel my GDE and keep “only” my GGT order as we don’t need three cars and I need a car by August. We need an SUV, so maybe I extend the R1S lease. Who knows. No consideration of other EVs. Tried them all and not thrilled.

I would think there is some correlation between orders and production.
We just don't know the details of that correlation.

The two order trackers on this forum are just one representation of overall Gravity orders.
Going with that limited perspective, Aurora Green is the most popular color on both trackers.

Get your GDE by end of July? Hmmm.
Based on the tracker, your order date was 5/20.
You joined the forum in late April.
I don't know if you looked at the GDE tracker before placing your order with the expectation of delivery by the end of July, but that was a very overly optimistic expectation.
Orders six months ahead of your were unfilled in May.
No criticism intended, so take the text here as well intended.
I'm sure you had your reasons for your expectation.

I doubt Lucid has said anything official, but has anyone heard anything about when 5 seat models will start being produced? I know that Lucid say they were going to focus on fully optioned Gravity builds first, which implies to me that anyone ordering a 5 seat model will have to wait a while. But I'd love to know how long that wait might be.
